P: CS6 / CC Keyboard shortcuts not responding Mavericks/Yosemite MacOS 10.9; 10.10

Since Installing Mavericks on my mac pro, the keyboard shortcuts, such as zooming in/out, undo etc, intermittently do not respond.
I have to click on another tool in the tool bar to get the keyboard to respond again.
The problem returns intermittently and seemingly not as a result of the Auto Save function.
My mac pro 15" has 8gb of ram which is more than enough for the type of work I do.I am an illustrator who primarily works around the brush tool.
Have tried disabling Graphics Processor and restarting, but this does not resolve the issue.

Any help would be most appreciated.

"The only way to get PS to respond again, is to click somewhere on the canvas. If I tried zooming in and out etc whilst the program was unresponsive, It will suddenly try and do everything in quick succession once becoming responsive again. This usually leaves me seeing PS zoom in and out quickly, and paint and bunch of paint strokes in different parts of the screen. ."

this is also exactly what has been happening to me.

Just out of curiosity do you have any of the following
logitech wireless device
Nik plug ins
DxO plugins
changes to the keystroke short cuts that you have made yourself
a USB hub that cuts out
a centraal heating system nearby witha thermostat (serioulsy )

th reason I ask the last one is I have noticed a correleation between the thermostat cutting in/out and losing functonality of devices connected to my usb hub, (no longer used on my system and have also gone all wireless, ethernet to internet etc) so I'm thinking that if local electrical interference can upset the functioning of the usb hub, which can efect devices, then perhaps there is a very slim cahnce that local electrical effects can disturb the functioning of devices like the wacom tablet, which may then have aknock on effect to the normal keyboard

I went back to psCS5 on my usual account ( and wacom works fine too) but have been trying a cleanly downloaded and newly installed psCS6 in new use account where I don't use wacom, to see if it made any difference not using wacom or aving any plugins. I intended introducing them one at atime, slowly, to see if I can find the culprit I stopped using or deleted all the above items on my system, until Adobe fix it. Obviously ( as PsCS5 works fine) it is something that changed i PsCS6

probably not very scientific, but I have noticed that it (psCS6) works ok so far ( I hour) except the zoom to 100% keystroke stopped working so I checked it in 'view' and see that the keystroke is 'n', hmmm very curious

I'm having exactly the same issues with my Mac and Mavericks. I find Photoshop becomes unresponsive whilst either painting for a little while, changing tools, or most commonly, undoing mistakes (stepping back).

The only way to get PS to respond again, is to click somewhere on the canvas. If I tried zooming in and out etc whilst the program was unresponsive, It will suddenly try and do everything in quick succession once becoming responsive again. This usually leaves me seeing PS zoom in and out quickly, and paint and bunch of paint strokes in different parts of the screen. I then have to undo these mistakes before starting painting again.

It's unfortunately very frustrating, and happens at least a few times every hour, probably more. It's making meeting deadlines for clients harder, and work far less unenjoyable.

My system specs are:

15" Retina Macbook Pro 2.3 ghz I7 with 16gb Ram - Software Up to date
Wacom Cintiq 24HD - Drivers Up to date
Photoshop CC - Software Up to date

I'm also using a multi-monitor set up. Wacom Cintiq is the main screen, A 20" Apple Cinema Display and the MBP 15" screen too.

Hopefully a fix can be found soon, otherwise I'll have no choice but to try and rollback to Mountain Lion. It certainly sounds like a common problem and It's good to know Adobe are on the case.

I also had the white menu problem, but the plugin from the previous forum had seemed to have solved that (so thanks for the help there).

I won't ever install an Apple OS upgrade without doing thorough research again...

Thanks Adobe for the help.

I'm afraid I have to report a worrying new variant to this bug.

Total loss of the spacebar, regardless of whether or not I click on the interface, and regardless of whether or not the other tools work.

This happened to me just now. I was able to select any tool either with the keyboard or directly, and those tools were working. I could use them with the mouse or the Wacom pen.

But the only way I could select the hand tool was directly - ie, by clicking on it with the mouse or Wacom pen in the tools palette. It worked, but of course I had to select the next tool directly as well. So, no space bar scrolling at all.

Again, to make it absolutely clear: This was a total loss of contact with the space bar even though everything else seemed functional. Clicking on the interface did nothing to rectify the situation.

Now. I did a few control tests while this was going on. First, I selected every single tool with the keyboard and used them. They were fine.

Second, I closed and restarted Photoshop. The problem persisted.

Third, I tried the keyboard - and space bar - in Microsoft Word, Apple Mail and TextEdit. It worked absolutely fine in those programs.

The loss of contact with the space bar only happened in Photoshop, and it was a total loss with no fix.

How did I resolve it? By restarting the Mac.

It will no doubt be of some interest to you guys to learn that my Mac had been on "sleep" for some hours before this space bar problem happened. However, it has never done this before, despite me using sleep mode several times a day.

This has suddenly become significantly more serious as far as I am concerned.

I note with some interest the initial post was some two months before I purchased CS6, and I wonder about the ethics - and legality - of Adobe continuing to make the software available for purchase in the knowledge that this issue exists.

Yes, Jerry, I now see where that was written, and also that Kendall (I'm sorry for that mixup! I know a few female Kendall's and made an assumption; my mistake) has rectified that statement.

For the record I can corroborate that input devices other than Wacom products produce the same error: a peer of mine using the same hardware and OS experiences this bug while using a monoprice tablet. But Mavericks does seem to be a common element AFAIK, and I think its important to keep the facts straight.

What I might do (if I get time) is reinstall in a new user acc and see if the problem still occurs - is there any merit in trying that - anyone?

Howdy Simon,

I would love to do a web-hosted screenshare with you and poke around your system. Often these kinds of problems are caused by seemingly innoculous settings in obscure assistance apps.

I should be around this afternoon or next week. Just ping me back here. And, quite frankly, that offer goes for ANYONE having this problem *without* the Mavericks + Wacom + Photoshop combo.

Really, we are trying to get to the bottom of this; thus far the evidence says that it's not something we are permitted to play with or fix.

Thanks,
David

First of all, I, Kendall, am a boy. Not a girl. So get that right please.

Second, I said it was Mountain Lion, but I checked back and its actually Mavericks, so my apologies for the misinformation.

No, we've done extensive testing for memory leaks.
And the memory usage HAS to go away after you exit the application - otherwise the OS isn't working correctly.
