P: CS6 / CC Keyboard shortcuts not responding Mavericks/Yosemite MacOS 10.9; 10.10

I agree_ surely it must be the OS at least partly to blame when using dual displays gives different play to single e.g. when I use single display and move the brush tool away from the image over the palletes the cursor automatically changes, whereas with two displays if I move the brush tool off the image to over the panels it stays a brush cursor unless I touch somewhere on a panel then it changes. But this is intermittant, like the other issues

also it is not just my wacom that fails to respond to input like changing brush size or swapping default BG colour, it is the (apple) keyboard too

It really seems like sometimes Ps responds , at others it won't, and it's different depending on displays,with no obvious pattern (to me)

I JUST bought a brand new macmini last month and a new 22HD cintiq to go with it. The mac uses Mavericks and I have Photoshop CS6 installed and I'm getting the same issues with unresponsive keyboard shortcuts at random intervals.

A month ago, I was using a 4-year-old Dell laptop with CS6 and a Wacom Bamboo and had no such issues. I'm a student and at my campus they have PCs and older Macs paired up with old and new Cintiqs and they all run CS6 and they don't have any issues.

Seems like this is primarily a Mavericks problem. Its only slightly comforting to know that I'm not the only one who just spend $4k on new equipment and is getting this issue. But I'm still pissed that after months it isn't resolved yet.

yes that not recognising the 'X' keystroke is one of the most annoying, probably because it is used most often (by me)

the other most common anoyance is that the wacom (intuuos 3) stops responding to the (left0 scroll bar set to increase/decrease brush size, until I use the Apple keyboard, then it 'finds' it again and works again for a while (didnt happen before I upgraded Ps and Mac Os

I'm getting this issue a LOT on my Retina MacBook Pro. I mean every 3-4 brush strokes that I want to undo using Cmd + Z, nothing happens. It's VERY annoying to have to double check whether the computer is doing what I'm asking it to do every couple of seconds. Pressing X to swap swatches also doesn't work about 30% of the time, which means I often end up dodging instead of burning, and sometimes I don't notice in time. Then I undo and nothing happens.

It feels like the keyboard has a contact issue or something (but it's not the case, just so you know). Once again only Photoshop is affected. I use many other apps and none of them show even the slightest sign of the keyboard not responding. The keyboard always responds, always, in every other app I use. Always.

The issue doesn't seem to happen or at least not as much on our Early 2013 iMacs, only on my rMBP. Latest versions of everything of course.

I couldn't agree more with every word you have said here.

No white menus here for a while but plenty of other glitches to make using Ps a complete PITA

Too soon to say, I've only just upgraded to 13.0.6 but I'll keep an eye on it while I'm working over the next day or so and if it returns I'll let you know. The keyboard disconnect happens after just four brush strokes though.

Adobe is looking into the problem, but cannot control for all variables, particularly those which are at the OS level. The info you posted, however, might be helpful in figuring out the culprit.

That said, the arrow key bug you are describing SHOULD have been totally fixed in 13.0.5. Are you still seeing it in 13.0.6?

It was the same for me. CS4 runs fine on Mavericks. Ps CC does not.

I really have to say that after many years of being an advocate of Apple/Adobe/Wacom, this current period of bug-ridden operating systems/software/hardware is easily the lowest point in terms of usability and even enjoying working with these products.

Mavericks is a complete disaster in terms of performance (main gripe: waiting for up to 40 seconds for the Finder to display folders and files when trying to open, save upload/download). Utterly irritating.

The lack of keyboard/stroke response seems to be getting even worse over time and I am frequently having to quit Photoshop CC when menus and dialogue boxes suddenly become completely blank/empty as reported elsewhere on other threads and forums such as here: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...

My Wacom Intuos 5 is nowhere near as good as my Intuos2. Wacom proudly announced on launch that they had developed a more realistic and slightly textured surface to the tablet. All this achieved was to wear out nibs at a blindingly fast pace (three days compared to over a year on previous versions). That surface took less than six months to wear smooth so was in fact a complete waste of time. The design of the pen is also terrible and the side button is ridiculously placed so that I am always accidentally 'right-clicking' which is very annoying when trying to work quickly. That and the fact I used to be able to 'stipple' when drawing on previous tablets but this is impossible on the Intuos 5 as it's response is just too slow and unresponsive.

As a previous poster also mentioned, having spent £££££$$$$$$$$$ over the years on products from these three companies, I find it appalling to be faced with all of the problems listed above.

I'm paying a monthly amount for Photoshop CC but I am going back to CS4 because it has none of the above problems when running Mavericks. If it were easy to downgrade to Mountain Lion I would have done so, but it isn't and I'm currently looking at alternatives to Wacom for a decent graphics tablet.

These aren't isolated problems restricted to the users on this particular thread. Most Mac users I know are experiencing exactly the same problems.

What was once a daily joy using these products has now become a chore and my workflow has been completely messed up with everything taking much longer than it should. As I said...this is a low point.

And some more info. I am using the latest, most recently updated version of Photoshop (13.0.6).

I have noticed that when Photoshop has disconnected from the keyboard the icon in the dock becomes dead as well. If I hop into another program, like Mail, while Photoshop has died the icon is unresponsive.

And here's another keyboard anomaly for you. The cursor refuses - sporadically - to advance through text using the arrow keys even though the keyboard is ostensibly still working. So I can select any other tool but still the cursor won't advance. This too happens on a random basis.

How on earth did this all get through testing?
