Photoshop stops using the GPU if you have 26 or more images open. See the thread below for details

24.0 Still not fixed. Photoshop still does not allow opening more than 25 images. Well, you can but no GPU acceleration in certain areas. AMD Radeon 5600xt, 64GB ram, Ryzen 3900x here. Unfortunately, I was stupid enough to trust Adobe and upgrade from 2020 version... which allowed opening 120 images with no issue whatsoever. This is absolutely pathetic Adobe... One year and you still cannot fix what you have broken yourself. Imagine leaving your car in the garage where they offer you a new engine, but later on it looks like one cylinder is not working because the garage removed one piston claiming it wasn't intended to be there... That's what you are - this sort of shady garage. Shame

PS Version 23.4.1.

Still not fixed. Attached is screen shots of the issues: GPU isn't being used on the 26th tab open. But GPU is used on the 25th tab.

"Scrubby Zoom check box" is an indicator, as this zoom function only works with GPU. Other functions that use GPU doesn't work either in the 26th tab.

This issue was reported 8 months ago, and I can't believe there isn't a solution yet. Come on Adobe. Let us use our GPU on many tabs as we want.

PC spec:
Win11, 12900k cpu, 64gb ram, 3090rtx gpu, gen4 nvme's.

I understand, however, even having one document open now for a growing number of NVIDIA card users is too much.

And give people a little grace for being desperate with client deadlines to be searching and following threads of Photoshop freezing or crashing as of late due. We literally can't use any version of the program right now and all of tech support's suggestions have not worked.

I did start another thread with specifics and am following several similar threads. Seems Photoshop is plagued with performance issues right now with no ETA for fixes. We literally had to move to Affinity Photo this week to meet project timeline goals.

@SC-Agency  You should raise your issue separately. The issue in this thread is very specific regarding the use of the GPU when going over a certain number of documents.

It is not about hangs, crashes or freezes.

For some of us with NVIDIA cards, this it just opening Photoshop or one document and Photoshop reverts to or only recognizes the Intel card and makes Photoshop freeze or hang. So it's not just people with 23 or 45 images open. Please scan other forum posts. People are posting at Dell and other sites as well.

I've had to download Affinity Photo to meet client deadlines. I'd prefer the Photoshop and Creative Cloud I am paying for.

It isn't my NVIDIA card. Tests fine. It isn't Windows, no missing or corrupt files. It isn't my Photosohop needing updates and needing any driver or Windows updates. I suspect there is some conflict there between Adobe products and NVIDIA cards of all sorts. The common denominator is the combo of Adobe and NVIDIA.

Can this please get sorted soon? I thought I was the only one experiencing it. I have ryzen 5950x, 64gb ram and 2070 super. I used to be able to open 50+ PSD files without issue until last year. This is necessary for a stop motion workflow or big e-commerce photography job and it pains me to not have scrubby zoom work past 25 images. I notice my v-ram is almost maxed out with 25~ ish photos open too and low normal ram use. Why is this still not fixed? You cant do these workflows in bridge or lightroom, its purely photoshop, actions, and layer work that we copy across and fine tune, tab, and then close all and save all
