P: Move Tool - Toggle auto select shortcut changed

Hello. The changed shortcuts to toggle the autoselection of layers with the move tool selected is highly frustrating to me. I used to have a great workflow with auto select turned on and used cmd to drag elements that were either off-canvas or too small / too transparent to grab them. Now it seems to be inverted: I need to turn auto select off to toggle with cmd. When it is turned on, cmd seems to toggle now between layer and group auto selection.
I can't understand why this was changed or is at least not something I can switch between in the preferences.

Thanks you very much for looking into this.

With an active layer; I used to be able to have my cursor anywhere on the document and while holding down the control key > could move the layer around the workspace......

Now with photoshop CC and having recently updated my version; this way of moving layers no longer works for me.

I prefer to work the way I used to; which only required dragging around the layer I wanted to select, then press and hold control and then with my cursor anywhere on the doc window; I could move it freely.

Any solutions to this? Adobe help couldn't understand the issue

Thanks this works perfect for me, the only drawback is that you can't update it. By going back to the older version of CC2014, I can now use the same workflow and also take advantage of the new powerful layer comps. Appreciate it!

MY SOLUTION:

Download Photoshop CC 2014.1 directly from Adobe servers and sign in with Your Adobe ID:

And do not update.

Not to be pushing here, but with Christmas drawing near, I really need to be at my A-game. Any clue on when you can roll back the move-tool? It really slows me down to no end not being able to use auto.select.

It's been over two weeks. And I am really starting to feel the burn here, guys.

Any timetable on that rollback?

I am a PC user having the same problem and it seems like a bug. I've checked my friend's Mac and there is no such problem on mac. I've also tried to do the latest update. It did not work for me.

My short term solution is to work in unchecked mode and to choose layers with holding cmd, but looking for long term solution !

Is this a bug or did this get switch for a specific reason?

Infuriating. Can't wait for them to fix that. I feel like I am using a different program.

You should be be able to move grouped layers no problem. Not sure why you need to use CMD T... If auto-select is off... and you CMD select a bunch of layers... moving them with CMD off... should move them no problem.

Just to clarify... Martin and I talked off line--he can still drag as long as he *doesn't* hold down CMD. It's still, in his own words, like pressing the break instead of the gas... but it's a work around until the change is rolled back.
