P: Not detecting older GPU's

I have a AMD HD8490 GPU and installed Photoshop version 21.2 and the GPU is not been detected, I'm not alone as I've come across other people with the same issue on the Photoshop community forum.
Reverting back to 21.1.3 fixes the issue
Why does Adobe release updates to fix bugs and then break something else with the same update.

Tony Rogers: Apparently input that does not fit your narrative is not allowed... I hope that the problem does get fixed as well; there is an expectation of civility on this forum. If that is uncomfortable, there are social media blogs that put up with ad hominen  slurs.

"DISCLOSURE: I do not nor have I ever, worked for Adobe."

But you've decided to be the forum policeman. I see. Every forum's got one.

I'm not interested in what you have to say. I just want Adobe to fix this hideous, basic bug that cripples ACR and photoshop.

Jim Setzer:  No, Jim, it is Not "all about you." Switching to SAAS business model was clearly done to smooth out cash flow and make things more predictable / manageable for the corporation and has absolutely nothing to do with beta-testing.

Apple actually sparked the switch to SAAS with their App Store model. Everybody else HAD to jump in as well lest Apple become the only purveyor of software.

With the old "purchase once and then upgrade occasionally" revenues were unpredictable,  yet support expenses were continuous, even for customers that would buy once and stay with the same version forever. I see postings on this forum for people using Photoshop 6! That predates the earliest CS versions even, yet there is an expectation that Adobe will forever keep "the tires on old Betsy" until that user goes into a Home.

Adobe is not the only company to get smart about this management; SAAS is becoming the prevalent model, and it works well, both for the users and for the companies.

Would you prefer to pay enormous upfront pricing and then have enormous Upgrade expense? Or, would you like to be able to budget a little subscription fee monthly and forever receive updates as you choose and at no additional expense?

Consider also that there are a lot of people including students and hobbyists that can enjoy this powerful program suite that would not have been able to pop for a big initial investment. I see a lot of those folks posting here, the younger (sometimes angry) set who are outraged that they cannot do Full Screen stuff on their phones! If they had not had access financially to Photoshop and Lightroom because of cost, they wouldn't even be here, in early stages of learning, to become more advanced.

I don't personally know anyone who works for Adobe so I can't say just how complex their regression testing should be for PS.  All I CAN say is from an end-user's perspective it seems one of the driving reasons to move to the subscription model is so that the user base can be their unpaid beta testers.  I would be happy to be a beta tester for a discount on my subscription since this costs me time (aka money) with every Adobe update to one of their apps.  One of the reasons I switched away from Premier years ago.  Those bugs were costing me BIG MONEY and almost lost me my best client.

Philip Chong: Unless you personally work for Adobe AND are a manager level employee, there is no way that you could have any inkling about what Adobe "Wants"

Small minds do not offer constructive thought nor comment; often on the web, those people hide in the bushes and snipe.

Adobe do not care!

They know everyone wants them and they are too big to fail.

This is sad!

The problem needs to be resolved urgently.
Without a GPU, Photoshop cannot even properly redraw its screen (on Win7). It is enough to press Tab to verify this.
Are Adobe programmers now writing Photoshop exclusively in scripts?
It feels like Yes.

I was not sure to what your three letter comment was referring. There was a second issue afloat, which you may or may not have seen: when I tried to reply to your earlier comment, a Warning popped up, probably not originating with your system, and most likely a hack against the provider GetSatisfaction which is used to host this forum for Adobe. It may be fixed now, but the first instance I encountered was when trying to reply to your posting; there were numerous other MeToo remarks by other readers, and I think it turned out that they were encountering this Warning at random and not related to a specific user. So, I was not sure whether your three letter comment was related to that!

@901591 About what exactly ? The issue here is that older GPUs are not detecting on Photoshop 21.2+ and they are releasing updates without even caring about this major issue.

@17207245 Hoegen:  Could you provide just a little bit more detail?
