P: Not printing in macOS 10.12 Sierra

You need to delete the .plist also, then you can make one print and the issue will pop back up.

Have tried it with CS6 and CS4, same issue.

When hitting the print button the program crashes. Replacing the prefs file and .plist file fix it but for only ONE time, then issue is back.

You are right, my first version was probably about 1990 ... I was guessing. Regardless, as a Mac user I have long felt like a 2nd class citizen and perhaps I am simply inured to the pain. I too, remember the angst of the will Adobe support Mac period, but there was a lot of pain and doubt about Apple during those years when Jobs was bounced and the gang were busy destroying the company. One can't fault Adobe for wondering exactly what might be Apple's future. I was soundly ridiculed by more than one PC user over the years including several who opined that a graphical interface was unnecessary and Wordperfect for DOS was the cat's pyjamas. 

Regardless, I'm too old to worry about the on and off relationships of Apple and Adobe. I simply want software that works when I need it to work, and Adobe could indeed do better.

I am not aware that Photoshop was available in the late 1980's. I had Version 1.0 since early 1990 on an Si.

Those were the days where Adobe was working WITH Apple about numerous problems occurring. In 1994 they found that they could make more money on Windows and I felt like a second class customer - I remember my calls to support and I remember the desperate statements in MacWorld and the frustration in Macuser groups. Not to mention the fact that all Versions were released for Windows first and some goodies were available for Windows only. I have not forgotten that either.

And by all means, my friend: When Sierra became available as a beta in June and Adobe suddenly realizes that everybody has issues with printing in September - not some hidden, rarely used features but PRINTING - than I call that ignoring of beta versions. But I am open to another logical or factual explanation.

And finally: I am aware of the limitations of .pdfs but restarting a Mac with an "old" system on an external drive just for printing sounds ridiculous at best. I am sorry if those limitations make it impossible for you to print, but I assume for lots of people a conversion to a .pdf and printing from there fixes the problem for some time.

Ron, I've been using Photoshop from it's beginnings in the late 1980's. It is an amazing piece of software and I love it.

First, what makes you think Adobe ignores Beta versions? Do you or did you work for Adobe? It doesn't seem to me to be a very logical development strategy.

Second, I really don't think Adobe is ignoring Apple customers and if you peek at the Windows problems you will be quite happy to be on a Mac platform. Apple and Adobe have had their wrestling matches, but they are big kids and Adobe has to know that that old Macromedia app is on its last legs.

Third, what annoys the hell out of me is customer support telling me nonsense. I was stupid to upgrade early in a new release and I am paying the price, but don't tell me Adobe hasn't tested it yet, or that these problems are unknown. Tell me they are aware of the issue and are working on a patch. Photoshop, OS-X, Windows are all incredibly complex pieces of software and no amount of testing will discover all the bugs and issues, there are simply too many variables. Just be honest and up front.

Finally, printing from Acrobat isn't a solution for those of us printing fine arts images. No comparison at all. It's just not on.

Adobe ignores the beta versions and tries to fix after the official release. Happens all the time since they moved away from Mac in 1992 towards Windows - if there only would be an alternative...
The solution for this problem? Save the file to be printed in .pdf-format and then print. I hate Adobe!

This year it is printing.  Last year it was downloading images from cameras.

Lightroom never had either of these issues.  Hey Photoshop group, "Communicate!"
Or, do you think you know better than Microsoft, Apple, and printer manufacturers on
how printing should be done!  Operating system and manufacturer developer guidelines are made for a reason.

I too am getting disgruntled with paying a subscription for something that keeps breaking and not being promptly fixed!  That is why you pay a subscription, right!

Constantly faced with the fall of Photoshop for printing in windows, I went to work on Mac OS X, there were no problems with the crash of Photoshop for printing. And I do not like it.But the happiness did not last long. This week I'm back and not once confronted with the problem of the fall of Photoshop for printing, already under macOS!
Adobe is a feeling that you achieve what I would no longer pay for the subscription.
