P: Photoshop 2025 v26.6 Bug - black document window

Photoshop 2025 v26.5 was working absolutely fine, then I made the mistake of updating to the latest patch, version 26.6.0 on my M4 Mac Mini.

After updating to 26.6, the actual document window is solid black - even if I open a photo or previous document...

Even though the Layers and Channels palette preview thumbnails are showing what's in the document...

After digging around in Preferences, I tried turning off the "Use Graphics Processing" option and relaunching Photoshop afterwards, and it's working fine again...

I'm just wondering if this is a bug related to the M4 Mac Mini graphics driver compatibility with the version 26.6.0 release? And, if so, when can we expect a fix from Adobe.

I've discovered the workaround for now, but obviously turning off the Graphics Processing setting will affect perfomance. Like I say, with this option switched on previously to the latest 26.6.0 release, it was working fine so it must be a new bug with 26.6.

I'm never updating this software ever again!!

It's triky because is an hidden folder. Tool see them clic COMMAND + SHIFT + . (Dot)

I tried doing a search and nothing came up. I only found it going through the finder folder by folder

I get the same result - LRC edit in Photoshop 26.6.0 and get a black screen. I'm using Mac M1

Why can't I find MachinePrefs.psp on my computer... I followed the instruction given on this and also did a search, and it doesn' come up anywhere! I've already downgraded my PS version an would like to try the workaround.

I'm back to report that deleting MachinePrefs.psp, as described in an earlier post, worked for me. I can now load iages successfully with th graphics card enabled. I'm not happy abbout deletong ,my preferences, but I guess I'll survive.

Similar issue and a partial fix by turning off the Graphics Processing. But when I create a new document, I don't have the typical "locked background" layer and it adds an artboard. I'm savvy enough to find this stuff but not savvy enough to want to deal with it. 😞

When I select "edit image in Photoshop" from Lightroom and the image opens in Photoshop, it is completely black. It appears OK at a "Overview" and as a Background but not in the large editing window, which means I can't edit it. I've googled without finding any solution. Same problem even if I open another image or restart the computer and program. The programs are also updated to the latest versions. Yes, I'm a rocky on Photoshop so the problem is probably very simple... Does anyone have any suggestions??

Thank you. Changing colour mode from RGB to CMYK solved the issue.

I would have sent you a copy of my "MachinePrefs.psdp" file but on opening it in TextEdit to see what kind of information it contains I can see there's lots of references to files that I've been working on, including the full file paths to where they're stored on my system.

Obviously, I can't provide this kind of information as it's confidential stuff for our customers. Sorry!
