P: Photoshop 22.0: Where is Line Weight/Width and Pixels options?

I'm having trouble using the Line Tool in PS 22.0.0.

How do I set the width/weight of the line? In PS 21 there was a "Weight" option along the top bar, but I don't see that anymore. Am I missing it? Or did it move?

This might be a separate issue, but the lines I'm drawing are not showing up. I have a fill color and stroke color selected, but when I make a line, I don't see it. I just see a blue outline of where it is... the same that might happen if I made a "path" instead of a "shape."

I just need to make a line with a width/weight of 20px.

@mark_dahm thanks for the possible solutions to the some of these problems this one almost helps me:

2. If the main benefit of the pixel option for you was to prevent a bunch of new layers from being created as you drew the lines, you can hold down the shift key at the beginning of drawing the second line, and the second line will appear on the same layer as the first line.

BUT holding shift makes the line lock to 90 degree angles (although it also at least doesn't create a new layer...) But yeah locking the angle thing is no good in this case.

I deleted the PS 2021 version and recovered the 2020 version from Time Machine. The line arrows work fine on that version.

I actually made a thread about this, but deleted it after realizing there was this giant thread.

This being an intentional removal instead of a bug is INFURIATING. I understand the difference that lines are no longer being defined as a skinny rectangle, but forcing them as vectors is absolutely asinine when virtually every other graphic editor on the planet has one.

I'm an indie dev that primarily works on 2D games. While I use more specific programs for sprite-editing, when working with environments I use Photoshop. And in creating objects/sprites, I fairly often need to just draw a clean 1px line to create a straight edge.

Creating lines as vectors is an extra step I never wanted or needed, even with the option to create them all on the same layer. When drawing, if I want to incorporate a nice, clean, straight line, I used to be able to quickly get one with the Line tool. Now I need to make a line, rasterize it, and merge it with whatever drawing layer I'm working on.

If this isn't solved, I'm just reverting back to the prior version, because all this update has done is cause a ton of headaches for me.

Thanks for the feedback @lumigraphics and @jake_myler

If I wanted to use a shape layer I already could. Now I have to merge it down so the line is actually part of my pixel layer like I need it to be. :sigh:

The question is does this change actually help ANYONE. I'm still trying to figure out a way where the new line behavior would be a feature that I could actually use.

What the hell are the product managers thinking? Almost every update changes something in a way that makes the program harder to use.

I need to draw a PIXEL LINE with an arrowhead. Nothing more or less. I almost never use the line tool for anything else, so I had settings saved and one click and drag did the job.

Now the pixel option is gone and I'm wasting my time trying to figure out how to do this simple task.

Here is a very pointed suggestion- don't make stupid changes like this. Instead, rename the old tool (say, Legacy Line Tool) and ADD the new method as a separate tool. You already have working code that didn't need to be ripped out.

Same with all the other "improvements" that you come up with. If its not removing functionality, fine. But when you do, fill in the gaps.

You can create arrowhead shape layers if you stroke the inside the heads will point to where you want. If you stroke alone the path or outside the path  you will get a single or double width stroke connecting to the arrowhead but the arrowheads will now point past the point you want to point to.

I agree with Jake Myler's comments on the Pixel option for the line tool. I also create comics with Photoshop and when crucial features like this get taken away or gimped, my eyes start looking at Clip Studio Paint a bit more.

I literally cannot use PS 2021 with this feature taken away. I use the pixel line tool ALL the time. It was rough enough that my Coolorus 2.5 plugin broke too, but they're working on a beta that has been working until I discovered how broken the line tool is.

Back to PS 2020.

Came here looking for this. This is outrageous! The line tool doesn't make sense anymore. All the things I've used for years are suddenly unusable. Pixel mode being removed is absolutely absurd.

I refuse to use 2021 until this is fixed. I can't use it. Back to 2020 it is.
