P: Photoshop 22.1.0 - Program Error using Spot Healing tool and using Select and Mask

Repeatedly ...even after restarting PS and/or rebooting laptop, I try to use the spot healing tool and incessantly get this popup:

"Could not complete your request because of a program error"

All I can do is click the OK button and then continue until a minute or so goes by and I get the same thing happening again. Another buggy update???

I don't like the patch tool because I work on a blank layer. I'm just finding other ways around it but frustrated

Still the same problem here.

@AlicynDrew  Not sure how much it helps, but I've found the patch tool to still work OK. It's slower, but allows me to get my work done.

I'm getting the error again today and can't get past it. This is really killing my ability to get things done. I've tried turning layers on and off, restarting PS. I might get in one heal and then it fails again

another thing that happened this morning was I could not adjust the size of the healing brush. The brush settings were grayed out and the brackets did nothing

I have this problem, it's very annoying and I've wasted 2 days. I have also problems with my Nik efex, which have not been solved by purchasing the newest version.
