P: Photoshop 22.1.0 - Program Error using Spot Healing tool and using Select and Mask

Repeatedly ...even after restarting PS and/or rebooting laptop, I try to use the spot healing tool and incessantly get this popup:

"Could not complete your request because of a program error"

All I can do is click the OK button and then continue until a minute or so goes by and I get the same thing happening again. Another buggy update???

This does not work. I have tried it. Had to revert to a previous version 21.2.4 as this update and the previous update are terrible. Not only does this spot healing brush not work properly giving the error message but the tools lock up (on both MAC and PC) turning the tool into a mouse icon. To fix this I have to save and close the file and reopen the file. Then it may happen again. 22.0.1 is the worst version of Photoshop I have had to deal with in over the last 25 years.

Hi @joel

We're sorry for the issue and frustration you are enduring.  Can you try re-installing version 22.0.1 in the mean time?  Here is the link to the re-install instructions: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/using/install-previous-version.html

Additionally, would you like to participate in our PreRelease program?  It would be the latest Photoshop with a fix to your issue.

Seeing the same issue. PS 22.1 / Windows 10 20H2

Spot healing brush in certain spots of the image causes this, a few mm over in a different spot, no error message.

When is this issue going to be fixed? My workflow has been severely impacted by this error.

Having this issue too. Here is something that I have noticed: The program error is almost always located in the same area of each photograph that I am working on: just left and up slightly from the center of the photograph. This has been on multiple images over and over again. One other observation is that the error occurs more often with longer strokes of the spot healing brush than with short strobes or dabs.

I do hope that there is a fix for this soon as it is causing a overall problem here at work.

I just updated to Big Sur and now this is happening.  Wasn't happening before I updated my OS.

Well my issue literally just started today. Was using the spot healing brush on one are moved to another area and bang "can not do to error". move to another area and it works fine. Opened a another image to test worked no problem. Closed it and went back to my original image and it started working again...UGGH Adobe starting to look a lot light Microsoft.
