P: Photoshop 27.10: "Edit in Photoshop" from Lightroom Classic & Lightroom Desktop does not load image

Since today’s Photoshop 27.10 update, the “Edit in Photoshop” command in Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 is not working anymore for me. Photoshop opens automatically as before (if it’s not open yet) but no image is being loaded. Downgrading Photoshop to 27.9.1 resolves the issue and the “Edit in Photoshop” functionality is back to normal. I also tried to change the external editing file format from TIFF to PSD or PSB but this didn’t make any difference. Anyone else facing the same issue?

I’m running macOS Tahoe 26.6.2. Closing and re-opening LRC and PS didn’t solve the problem, rebooting the machine also didn’t show any effect.

P.S.: I posted this in the Photoshop forum as well

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for the detailed reports and reproductions here. It has been really helpful in isolating the issue quickly. I’ve filed this for the engineering teamto investigate and prioritize.

In the meantime, here are confirmed workarounds:

    • Downgrade to Photoshop 27.9.1 via the Creative Cloud app (Other versions > 27.9.1).
    • Alternatively: Temporarily disable Denoise in Lightroom Classic before sending to Photoshop, then re-apply back in Lightroom, or it using Camera Raw as a filter inside Photoshop.

We understand this disrupts a core editing workflow and appreciate your patience. We'll update this thread as we have more information.

I have been having trouble exporting files from Lightroom Classic (15.5.1) into Photoshop (27.10.0). If the raw file has been denoised in LRC it won’t open when I export to Photoshop. I am on MacOS and the files were taken on a Nikon Z8.

Are you talking about Lightroom or Lightroom Classic? There is a long thread in the Lightroom Classic forums about this. It only concerns denoised images and MacOS, but open as smart object does work. If not Lightroom Classic, then please mention which versions of Lightroom and Photoshop, on what platform and your hardware specs.

And for that matter, any AI process like, denoise, raw details and super resolution. If any of these process is applied, open as layers in photoshop will not work

Bug: "Open as Layers in Photoshop" fails silently when AI Denoise is applied

    System:
    - Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 (also tested on 15.5)
    - Photoshop 2025 (also tested on Photoshop 2026)
    - macOS [Tahoe 26.6.2]

    Issue:
When selecting 2 or more photos in Lightroom Classic that have AI Denoise applied and choosing Photo > Edit In > Open as Layers in Photoshop, Photoshop launches but no document opens — no error message, nothing happens. This occurs consistently.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Select 2+ RAW images in Lightroom Classic
    2. Apply AI Denoise (Photo > Enhance > Denoise) to each
    3. Select the same images, right-click > Edit In > Open as Layers in Photoshop
    4. Photoshop opens but no file loads, no error shown

    What I've isolated:
    - The same images WITHOUT AI Denoise applied open as layers correctly, every time
    - Manual/slider-based Noise Reduction (Detail panel) does NOT cause this issue — only AI Denoise does
    - Rolled back Photoshop from 2026 to 2025: issue persists
    - Rolled back Lightroom Classic from 15.5.1 to 15.5: issue persists
    - Manually running File > Scripts > Load Files into Stack directly in Photoshop (not via Lightroom) works fine
    - Reset Photoshop preferences, checked macOS Automation permissions (Lightroom listed and allowed) — no change

RAW Images with applied Denoise in LR Classic wont open in PS.

PS Version 27.10 LR Classic 15.5.1

Same Image with Denoise not applied will open.

I Deinstalled and reinstalled both apps but the issue is the same

In Lightroom Classic 15.5, a RAW file with the current nondestructive Denoise enabled will not open in Photoshop using Edit In > Adobe Photoshop.
Photoshop launches or becomes active, but the image is never transferred. Lightroom Classic displays no error message.
Disabling Denoise and updating the AI settings immediately restores normal Edit in Photoshop behavior.

    Steps to reproduce:
1    Open a RAW file in Lightroom Classic 15.5.
        2    Apply Denoise.
3    If prompted, update the AI settings/order of operations.
4    Choose Edit In > Adobe Photoshop.
5    Photoshop launches/becomes active, but no image opens.
6    Return to Lightroom Classic and disable Denoise.
7    Update the AI settings/order of operations.
8    Choose Edit In > Adobe Photoshop again.
9    The image transfers to Photoshop normally.
10    Re-enable Denoise and update the AI settings again.
11    Edit in Photoshop silently fails again.

    Additional testing:
I can reproduce this consistently with multiple RAW files.
I also tested it using virtual copies of the same RAW file. A virtual copy without Denoise transfers normally. After copying the Develop settings from a Denoised version to that previously working virtual copy, it also stops transferring to Photoshop.
The failure therefore appears to follow the Denoise Develop setting, rather than the underlying RAW file, catalog entry, virtual copy, or Photoshop installation.
I have reproduced the following sequence repeatedly:
Denoise OFF → Photoshop transfer works Denoise ON → Photoshop transfer silently fails Denoise OFF → works again Denoise ON → fails again
I have also restarted Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, and the computer. The behavior persists after a full restart.
Other RAW files without Denoise continue to transfer to Photoshop normally.
Important: There is no error dialog or other indication in Lightroom Classic that the transfer has failed. Photoshop simply opens/becomes active without receiving the image.
    Expected behavior:
A RAW file with nondestructive Denoise enabled should render and transfer to Photoshop normally through Edit In > Adobe Photoshop.
    Actual behavior:
When Denoise is enabled, Photoshop launches/becomes active but receives no image, and Lightroom Classic reports no error.

    System:
        •    Lightroom Classic: 15.5
        •    Photoshop: 27.10.0
        •    Computer: Apple silicon Mac  macOS 26.6.2
        •    Camera files tested: Fujifilm X-T5 RAF
