P: Photoshop 27.10: "Edit in Photoshop" from Lightroom Classic & Lightroom Desktop does not load image

Since today’s Photoshop 27.10 update, the “Edit in Photoshop” command in Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 is not working anymore for me. Photoshop opens automatically as before (if it’s not open yet) but no image is being loaded. Downgrading Photoshop to 27.9.1 resolves the issue and the “Edit in Photoshop” functionality is back to normal. I also tried to change the external editing file format from TIFF to PSD or PSB but this didn’t make any difference. Anyone else facing the same issue?

I’m running macOS Tahoe 26.6.2. Closing and re-opening LRC and PS didn’t solve the problem, rebooting the machine also didn’t show any effect.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the detailed reports and reproductions here. It has been really helpful in isolating the issue quickly. I’ve filed this for the engineering teamto investigate and prioritize.

In the meantime, here are confirmed workarounds:

Downgrade to Photoshop 27.9.1 via the Creative Cloud app (Other versions > 27.9.1).
Alternatively: Temporarily disable Denoise in Lightroom Classic before sending to Photoshop, then re-apply back in Lightroom, or it using Camera Raw as a filter inside Photoshop.

We understand this disrupts a core editing workflow and appreciate your patience. We'll update this thread as we have more information.

Vandaag 16 sept zelfde probleem. Eerst ook PS gestart en daarna Lightroom CC echter file opent niet. Hoe op te lossen. (Laatste update Tahoe 26.7).

Photoshop 27.10.0 will not open a RAW file passed from Camera RAW hosted by Bridge with Enhance Details applied. Bridge 16.07.36. Camera RAW 18.6. Mac Studio M1, OS X 26.6.2.

Check Enhance Details in Camera RAW hosted by Bridge (Preference set to Double-Click Edits Camera RAW Settings in Bridge) and Photoshop with not open the file. Uncheck, Photoshop will open the file. Opening Camera RAW in Photoshop works. RAW files both with Enhanced Details and without open. I rolled back to Photoshop 27.9.1 and opening a RAW file with Enhanced Details from Camera RAW hosted by Bridge works so the bug is in Photoshop 27.10.0.

I AM FULLY AWARE OF THE PROBLEMWHICH APPEARS TO BE ONGOING SINCE 2023. I HAVE AWORKROUND WHICH IS TO OPEN PS BEFORE LR. IF I NEED TO USE PS IT WILL THEN LOAD. I AM PAYING FOR A PRODUCT WHICH IS NOT FULLY FUNCTIONAL AND ALL THE ON LINE COVERAGE SEEMS TO BE HOW TO USE A WORKROUND NOTHING ABOUT A SOLUTION

LR process images correctly, you can also edit one image in PS with no issues. When trying to process the LR images, Photo, Edit in, open as layers in Photoshop, it opens PS, screen goes black and then nothing happens. You have to Ctrl, Alt Delete to close PS. I’m using windows 11 but my friend has the same issue with his Mac.

Last time I used this process, about 10 days ago no issues.

If you use the new ‘Render to DNG’ menu, then do realise this: Render to DNG creates a TIFF file in a DNG wrapper, not a raw DNG file. As TIFF is RGB, meaning three colors per pixel (whereas raw is one color per pixel), it is completely as expected that the DNG file will be larger than the raw file.

As of Sept 13, 2026 edited photos in LRC still will randomly not open in PS although PS opens but there is no image file. Adobe we are paying you a monthly fee to fix this, Have reinstalled both and this fix doesn't help. Everything worked ok until latest update.

same results . i have reinstalled both and reset preferences and still the photo will not open in photoshop. i can only open it as a smart object

Latest version of LR and Photoshop Beta 27.11.

I can’t open files from LR to Photoshop. It gets stuck at around 75% on the progress but it doesn’t open. Rendering a RAW to DNG works.

But, there is a bug with the DNG render… I shoot in 4:3 ratio on my Sony camera but the actual ratio of the raw file is 3:2. The problem is that if I reset the photo to its 3:2 ratio and then I choose render to DNG, it defaults to 4:3 so basically crops the image. The only work around I found is to trim the file slightly from 3:2 and then it will render ok.

The attached photos show the difference in ratios. Also the DNG is 40% bigger in size!!! That’s crazy!
