P: Photoshop 27.10: "Edit in Photoshop" from Lightroom Classic & Lightroom Desktop does not load image

I updated to Photoshop 27.1.0 and have Lightroom Classic Vers. 15.5.1 installed and the Edit in.. Edit in Photoshop 2026 feature is not working. Neither right clicking or using Cmd-E works. The screen switches over to Photoshop but the image does not open. These are Sony RAW files. I do not have Photoshop Beta installed either. I tried uninstalling both PS and LR Classic and restarted computer and this did not work. I then re-installed Photoshop version 27.9.1 and it’s now working. Seems to be a bug. Running a Mac Studio M2 Max with Tahoe Version 26.6.2, everything up to date.

This is related to the MacOS Tahoe 26.6.2 update. I tried to reproduce this error on my MBP M1Max running Tahoe 26.6.1 and I couldn’t. Photoshop opens the image just fine, regardless of whether I have checked Denoise or not. My wife already updated her MBP to Tahoe 26.6.2 and she does see this issue exactly as described: enabling denoise means Photoshop does not open the image, disabling denoise makes Photoshop work correctly again.

So here’s a workaround that I just tested: Disable Denoise in Lightroom, open the image as smart object in Photoshop, double click the smart object to launch Camera Raw, enable denoise in Camera Raw.

I seem to have similar, but stranger problem. With those with “Denoise” box checked, they open in Photoshop OK. When I do several edits, and then Stamped layer, any filter doesn’t work with it. Then if I do something else with that layer (remove) and one more stamped layer filters work alright again, and it is possible to send back to Lightroom .If I do same procedure in Photoshop from Camera Raw everything works OK with every layer. Of course there is no sending back. Smaller, but anyhow strange problem.

I’ve identified a bug in Lightroom regarding files not exporting to Photoshop when using the “Edit in Photoshop” feature:

• Files that have the “Denoise” box checked in the Details tab of Lightroom will not be exported to Photoshop using the “Edit in Photoshop” command. 
• Files that don’t have the “Denoise” box checked will export fine via “Edit in Photoshop”.

I can replicate this with any file in my libraries, maybe you can check this at your end too?

Contrary to what I said last night, it’s still not working properly.

However, I’ve now identified which images open in Photoshop and which don’t:

• Edited or unedited images without Denoise applied in Lightroom open fine via the “Edit in Photoshop” feature.
• Edited images with Denoise checked in the Detail section of Lightroom will not open via the “Edit in Photoshop” feature.

This looks like a bug and I think others can very likely replicate this issue. I’d appreciate if someone else could give it a try on their machine,

Just a quick update on this - like mentioned before, after downgrading to 27.9.1, the “Edit in Photoshop” functionality was working again for me. Thought I’d give the upgrade one more try before going through the uninstall process of Lightroom and Photoshop. Rebooted the machine first, closed all apps, upgraded the previously downgraded PS version through Creative Cloud, opened PS first and LRC afterwards and voilà, it seems to work fine again (at least for now). From a technical point of view, it doesn’t seem to make much sense to me but I’m still glad this issue seems to be sorted now by downgrading and upgrading again. Will monitor Activity Monitor as LAMY2017 suggested and look out for the other issues people are having with the latest Photoshop version (like the curves adjustment layer not working properly or random app crashes) and report back should I run into them as well.

Trying to export edited files in LRC to Photoshop using ‘edit in’ files aren’t exporting, unedited files are.

No solution from me, just want to ask if you watched/checked Activity Monitor. On my system, LrC 15.5.1 is using 6.8GB of my 8GB MacAir RAM. Ps 27.10.0 is using 4.2GB. The 11GB is Unified, I assume.

But my image did open during LrC->Ps. Exiting without making edits is prompting “Save changes...before closing?” which is new.

For me, the “Edit in Photoshop” command in Lightroom is not working anymore. Photoshop opens fine but no image is being loaded. This is a feature I use on a daily basis and the only way to resolve it for me was to downgrade Photoshop to 27.9.1. Seeing that people have a lot of other issues, I think it makes sense to stay on 27.9.1 for now and not upgrade before all the bugs are hopefully resolved in the next version.
