P: Photoshop can't open, freezes on splash image, uses all of ram trying to open then crashes.

I have googled every possible variation of this problem and tried every fix for this problem, none of them worked. I have tried reinstalling photoshop, deleting everything even remotely related to photohop in the appdata, deleting custom fonts, restarting the computer, updating graphics and computer, and holding every possible combination of alt, ctrl and shift while trying to launch in administrator mode. The result is always the same. It opens the splash image, gets to loading preferences or brushes, spikes RAM usage to every last byte of RAM I have, freezes the computer, then crashes.

And no i'm not running it on a potato i'm running it on an Alienware Aurora 4090, it should have more than enough power to handle this and Photoshop ran perfectly fine for months. Then just today it crashed and has never started up again.

Hi,

This did not work for me, I used the cleaner tool and cleared both desktop versions of Photoshop and Creative Cloud. Did I miss something? I am on a Mac Studio running Sonoma 14.5.

My work is piling up, I need Photoshop to finish it 😞

Please help!

Thank,

Karleigh

Don't install beta software on a production system. Simple.

You don't have to lose any of your actions or tools. Go into every file that is adobe: program files, program common files, program 86x, and app data files and rename all of them adobe.old. Then run the cleaner. Reload creative cloud and photoshop then you can go back to the app data file and copy and paste all of your tools and actions and brushes. This worked for me. I didn't lose anything.  I had to reinstall the plugins but that was nothing

After spending half a work day on this the only thing that helped was uninstalling all beta apps, restart and reverting to Photoshop 2024 v 25.5.1

PhotoShop 2024 freezes/crashes on opening on my Mac Pro running Sonoma. Have tried contacting Adobe for help but have received no support or help at all. At this point wishing I had not subscribed.

Creative Cloud didn't even offer the Beta to reinstall. And just to confirm for you, Beta is no longer in my Apps list.

It is not about the version of the operating system, when this problem occurs to many people with Mac, with Windows, etc., the problem is with ADOBE. What's the point of sending the reports to ADOBE if they don't analyze them later? Always the same solution: uninstall and install, no wonder ADOBE is losing users. Fix this problem once and for all if you don't want to face lawsuits for not being able to work.

@DPhotography install Photoshop 2024 and do not install the beta.

https://community.adobe.com/t5/creative-cloud-desktop-discussions/creative-cloud-is-currently-causing-problems-with-photoshop/m-p/14786256#M7180

This is inferred to be caused by the creative cloud, not just by Photoshop.

Currently, some bugs starting at 25.5? 25.6 appear to be caused by Creative Cloud.
But I would like to request an investigation on this, but the developer is not responding on the creative forum.

This will also affect both the upcoming Photoshop and Photoshop beta versions, so I'm leaving this article on the beta forum at the moment.

What I am sure of is as follows.

1. Window 10 OS

2. Photoshop 2024 Even if you don't use the latest or beta version (Creative Cloud is also old), just update to the latest Creative Cloud will damage all existing Photoshops.

3. In other words, this is still the same issue when reinstalling Windows OS (because Creative Cloud is always installed with the latest version)

4. I've also tried deleting library folders etc to find out the cause of this, and I've told my colleagues as well as me to update the creative cloud version (they mostly use Photoshop 2023)

And Photoshop, which used to work reliably without any problems, will also fail if you install the latest version of the current Creative Cloud.

5. So what I guess is around the version release below.

Version 6.2.0.554 was released on May 10, 2024 (required release)

Improved user interface for viewing and managing pending application updates.
Easily view and manage credits generated from the account menu.
Use application preferences to display or hide recent files from the Home tab.
A recent section of the Home tab has been improved.
For businesses with access to Creative Cloud Edition 4, the Firefly tab has been released exclusively.
In-context purchases have been activated in Creative Cloud for Teams.
Enterprise users with Acrobat privileges can now access cloud-based documents via the Files tab.
Support for Microsoft Visual C++ 12.0 has been discontinued.
Fix bugs and technical improvements.

If you're using a creative cloud before that release, there's no problem at all.

So, this has a lot of influence on causing problems with Photoshop, so I ask for an investigation like this.
Maybe, I think other bugs that were caused by the creative cloud, not by Photoshop, can be identified.

For example, there were a number of strange issues such as the "Could not complete your request Select Subject Classifier model not loaded correctly" bug, the "Can't write new document present file" bug, and the GPU working like it doesn't work properly (it's actually no problem with compatibility checks, it's applied correctly to settings), but we confirmed that the creative cloud is all related.

Therefore, I report this because I think this will affect Photoshop as a result, and will also affect future updates.

Spent all last night reading all the steps and doing all the back ups for the CCD cleaner from your link ( https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html) to work and reinstalled Photoshop 2024, and having the same issue. Both the PS 2024 and 2024 Beta freeze on the splash screen at "reading preferences". I hate to say this, but I literally don't have time for Photoshop to stop working right now. I'm on a deadline to deliver a couple of hundred photos to a client tomorrow!

Delete the Beta Apps you have installed on your system. Once they are uninstalled, open PS and then reload the Beta apps, worked for me.
