P: Photoshop can't open, freezes on splash image, uses all of ram trying to open then crashes.

I have googled every possible variation of this problem and tried every fix for this problem, none of them worked. I have tried reinstalling photoshop, deleting everything even remotely related to photohop in the appdata, deleting custom fonts, restarting the computer, updating graphics and computer, and holding every possible combination of alt, ctrl and shift while trying to launch in administrator mode. The result is always the same. It opens the splash image, gets to loading preferences or brushes, spikes RAM usage to every last byte of RAM I have, freezes the computer, then crashes.

And no i'm not running it on a potato i'm running it on an Alienware Aurora 4090, it should have more than enough power to handle this and Photoshop ran perfectly fine for months. Then just today it crashed and has never started up again.

Photoshop version 25.11

Help.

You need to Unistall your creative cloud using the Adobe Cloud Cleaner (a normal Unistall didn't fix my issue).

It is always recommended to backup before performing this action.

Here's the link to re-install Creative Cloud:

Note: i did not install any "Beta" versions yet, but i read on other threads that this could have been the initial problem.

Hello, with all due respect, why would you do something like that? If you have a lot of custom settings in the applications, 1500 (!!!) installed plugins... It's an enormous amount of work to put everything back...

this is what you have to do....

FIRST - remove all adobe applications TOTALY & COMPLITLY from the computer.

SECOND - delete all adobe folders from the C:/ drive including under user/local, user/roaming etc.

THIRD - run Adobe creative cloud cleaner tool

FORTH - restart computer

FIFTH - reinstall Adobe apps

When you start photoshop beta (the regular version gives the same error), it starts to take up all the RAM (I have 32GB).
It freezes at the moment of reading preferences and Windows issues to close the program or wait for the program response.

I didn't install any additional plugins or anything else. It just stopped starting one day.

Yes, I agree that it works this way too. The method I proposed has an advantage. The CCC tool doesn't actually uninstall the beta applications but only removes them from the CC manager. Therefore, you can continue to use them until Adobe provides a real solution to this situation.

also, it may be helpful to list what OS you are using, also the version, and the computer you are using. Maybe removing the Beta versions is just a fix for MacOS (Ventura in my case)

I guess it is listed as the correct answer because for many of us, it was/is. Also you need uninstall your Photoshop/Illustrator, Indesign, and any other programs you are having problems with and then reinstall them, restart, and run Disc Utilities if you are on a MacOS.

Hallo liebe Community,

I am having the same issue. I've spent the whole morning reinstalling Photoshop and updating MacOS, but Photoshop app is not starting. Same with the Beta version.
