P: Program error when saving, lag when zooming, changes not reflecting in document window (macOS)

Since the 22.1 update, MAJOR bugs:

- ‘could not save because of a program error’ when saving, work around: hiding a few layers or folders.

- major lag when zooming in

- actions and changes delay in showing, to the point where they never show up - once I close the document and quit Photoshop and go back in the changes are  visible.

what’s going on??

Same here. only way. I have one lucky document that saves normally, I have yet to figure out why that one got spared.

Crop this, change that, stay on one foot before you save..and you'll be fine... meanwhile the subscription part of the contract works flawlessly.

I've found that if you place all layers into a single folder, then hide that entire folder you can then save your file. It's a pain, but that's the only way I've been able to get around it. Hope it works for you if you haven't already tried that...

Same issue here.  I've followed all the steps and nothing fixes it.

I just upgraded today and my workflow is broken.  If I try to flatten, merge, copy all layers, etc., photoshop says "Could not complete your request because of a program error."  My workflow is dead until this gets fixed.  Is there some way to rollback to the previous Photoshop until this gets fixed?  OS is OS X Catalina.

If your image is 16 bit then change it to 8 bit. That solved the problem in my case without losing anything of my work

Yes, that seems to the source(s) of the problems - the layers. Change or add one and the error is triggered. It is reproducible 100% of the time.

So, Adobe developers - are you listening?

@wiliamjk

I also forgot to say, I tried to send the file to my girlfriend's computer who also uses updated Photoshop and the same error happened.

I am having the same problem here.

  • I can't save (error: The order could not be completed due to a program error)
  • Rendering is bad, crashing, or loading incompletely
  • The whole program is slow

I noticed the error when I tried to edit a PSD that already existed, I thought the file could be corrupted so I recreated it from scratch. But at some point the problem came up again. Here is an image of the layers of the file, if you might be interested: https://snipboard.io/zehsGK.jpg

Notice that I have some smart objects. The problem appears when I try to move these layers or edit them, inserting images from an external PDF.

It started yesterday after the update to 22.1. On the same day, my video card driver was also updated, I thought it might be related and I even restored the previous driver, but with no solution.

I followed all the steps described here, without success: https://helpx.adobe.com/br/photoshop/kb/basic-troubleshooting.html

Use here Windows 10, updated
