Bug Report: Severe System Hang when Accessing Menus and Panels
App Version: Adobe Premiere Pro v26.2.0 (Build 65)

Issue Category: Performance / UI Responsiveness

Status: Recurring / Degrades over time

System Specifications
Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900XT 16-Core Processor (3.30 GHz)

RAM: 64.0 GB DDR4 3600 MHz

Storage: WD_BLACK SN770 NVMe SSD (Firmware: Latest/Current)

Operating System: Windows 11 Pro

OS Version: 25H2

OS Build: 26220.7872

Issue Summary
Opening any top-level menu or interacting with specific utility panels (Properties, Project Manager, Subtitles) causes Premiere Pro and the entire operating system to freeze for 5 to 7 minutes. The issue is cumulative; the application becomes increasingly sluggish the longer it stays open, eventually requiring a full restart to regain functionality.

Steps to Reproduce
Launch Premiere Pro v26.2.0 (Build 65) on Windows 11.

Perform standard editing tasks for a period of time.

Attempt to open any top-level menu (e.g., File, Edit, Clip) or the Project Manager.

Alternatively, use the Properties menu to adjust subtitle parameters, frame positioning, or zoom levels.

Expected Result
The UI should remain responsive, and menus/panels should open instantly without impacting system-wide stability.

Actual Result
The application stops responding immediately upon clicking a menu.

System-Wide Lockup: The entire OS freezes for 5–7 minutes. During this time, no other programs can be interacted with.

Performance Degradation: The "slug-like" behavior worsens over time during a single session.

Normal operation is only restored after a full application restart.

Additional Observations
Workaround Limitation: While keyboard shortcuts work initially, they do not prevent the freeze once a mouse-driven menu is accessed.

Hardware Note: Given the high-end specs (Ryzen 9 5900XT, 64GB RAM, NVMe SSD), this is clearly a software/UI conflict rather than a hardware bottleneck.

Note for Support: This issue significantly impacts professional workflows as it forces a complete system halt multiple times per hour. Please investigate potential memory leaks or UI rendering conflicts in Build 65.

I'm experiencing the same problem. There's no lag when toggling menu icons after reverting back to version 26.0.2, but I hope Adobe fixes the issues in the newer versions.

Exact  same problem was working fine till the last updates, barely usable now

    I9  13900K | RTX 4080 | 64gb RAM

It happens on very light projects without effects or anything and without use of tiers party plugins

I don’t know if it’s linked or not but the “Static Transcribe” fonction don’t work anymore it just does nothing now

I'm experiencing the same thing—it’s not responsive at all. Version 26.2, which was released recently, still isn't working correctly and is full of bugs. Most of the time, I can't even open projects; I only managed to open them the first time I updated, but since it wasn't functioning properly, I reinstalled it about seven times on different days, yet still had no success. When a project does open, the playhead doesn't move while the video plays, commands don't respond, and everything is frozen, making it impossible to work. Meanwhile, the previous version is running perfectly smooth, so I'm sticking with the stable version and waiting for 26.3 to see if they fix these issues.

I'm really looking forward to using the latest version; hopefully, they'll fix these issues soon and make the software a bit more stable.

I have the same issue on my Dell laptop. Very annoying when I do Adobe Premiere training! And it doesn't make Premiere look good...

I have an NVIDIA 5000 16 GB GPU, and an Intel Core i9-13950HX (2.2 GHz), 128 GB RAM. Windows 11 Pro 25H2

Glad to hear you were able to roll back and get things working again.

Same here — I’m also sticking with 26.0.1 for now until a more stable update comes out.

I too am having this problem with 26.2.0. This is on a Mac Studio M2 Ultra with macOS Tahoe 26.4.1 (latest version). Not a problem before the 26.2.0 update. One additional thing I noticed is if I’m also listening to an audio source other than Premiere, saying listening to music with the Music app. Just before Premiere’s playback, that other source cuts out for 1-2 seconds, then when Premiere actually starts to play, the other audio source comes back as well. Not sure if this is an audio-related issue, or it's just hanging the entire system. But whatever it is, I can confirm this is not related to just Windows.

Hi @一樹33758267b1gq @BradCooper20 @Avel384682290ts6 - Would you try installing Premiere beta version 26.3.0 build 51 or later and let us know if that helps your issue.

I’m also coming across serious issues with 26.2. I don’t have the greatest performance specs but since the update I have seen a significant downturn in performance.

I tried to move the position of text in the properties panel and my PremPro kept freezing for minutes at a time, same thing happened when I clicked on the colour box to simply change the colour of the text.

Currently trying to install 26.0.2 (or 26.0.1), both versions get stuck at 54% download when trying to revert back to the old version.

I have tried numerous times and even force closed Creative Cloud and nothing is working.

Looks like my clients projects might be delayed 😳

Update, able to roll back (finally) to 26.0.1, but won’t be going back to 26.2 until there are further updates.

This is happening to me as well, when accessing top menus, on a fast 9900x system with a RTX 5060ti and all SSDs. Many reports elsewhere too; memory leak or other bug that Adobe needs to merge with this thread and address.

Just updated to a new version of the program, the issue is not resolved at all…
