P: Premiere Pro - Type Tool and Captions

Hi guys,

I'm having trouble with using the Type Tool and the Captions within the Text Panel.

This has happened in the past couple of days or at least, it's when I have noticed.

When the Type Tool is selected and when I click in the Programm Panel, like usually to type text nothing happens.

A red line now appears at the top and across the said panel. I am still able to drag a box but nothing happens after that.

Likewise with the Text panel and the captions. When I create a new caption track, and create a caption, I am able to create it and type in it, but nothing appears.

I've tried uninstalling the 25.1 version and re-installling - Nothing.

I've tried installing the 25.0 version and the same problem - Nothing.

I've tried creating a new project and opening an older project - Nothing.

Lastly, I have also tried turning my Mac off and turning back on - Nothing.

In the 24.6.4 version, it works but ideally I'd like to be using the most updated version.

I would appreacite any help, screengrab provided.

Cheers

Felipe

@petrš35061063 and if you log back into the other account it's broken again? If you would be willing to get on a quick call with me in the next days, I'd love to take a look at some things on your end. Send me a private message in this forum 🙂

I need to finish the project, so I solved the problem by logging into CC with a different license account and the text appeared.

Thanks. I updated to version 25.2 a few days ago. Everything worked. Today it logged me out of Creative cloud and after logging back in the texts were gone.
When trying to create text in a new empty project I get the same thing with the red line as in the screenshot from ajmills01.

Hi @petrš35061063,

Thanks for your report, this is an issue we've been tracking. I've merged your post with the main thread.

Hi, I’m experiencing a critical bug in Premiere Pro 25.2 on macOS 14.3.2 (M1 Pro).

Text layers are not displaying in the Program Monitor or export. The text is visible in the Text panel, as well as in Properties. But not in the video preview. It doesn't work even in a new project. I've tried everything.

Already used Adobe Cleaner Tool and reinstalled from scratch — issue persists.

Please help

Hey everyone. The info from @ajmills01 supports a suggestion that is is an issue in the GPU pipeline on Mac. The effect that is added is forcing the CPU to take over. To make quicker progress we'd be very interested in doing a quick screenshare with anyone having this issue. So if someone has 30min to spare, send me a message here in the Community Forum and we'll try to get to the bottom of this.

@ajmills01

This is super helpful, thank you for sharing! Could you also try creating a shape layer and tell me if it works or doesn't work?

Thanks!
Theresa

@jeremiah_6906@Erika31947747bj0s@Denise32307055d6qb@Yi-Chiang32017749nny1,

Can you share your system, hardware specs, and confirm the Premiere version this is happening in?

Thanks!
Theresa

Upgraded to 25.2. Still the same issue. This is across the board, with text I type into Premiere as well as GFX I import.

My laptop:

MacBook Pro 14-inch, 2021

Apple M1 Max

macOS = Sonoma 14.5

Thanks, I tried it, it didn't help. I installed version 24.6.4. The text works, but the projects don't open because they are saved in the latest versions.
