P: XML from Resolve crash Premiere when Lumetri is applied

I'm running 25.4.1 and I am not able to import an XML from Resolve. When I try to import the file I get an error message without any details or explanation.

Has anyone else run into that lately?

I did my grading in Davinci and bringing it back to Premiere for my online (export Premiere XML and ProRes 4444 from Davinci), however Premiere won't import the XML.

When importing the XML the first time Premiere crashes. After reopening it comes up with a message "File Import Failure." I've exported it multiple times, but to no avail. I've renamed the XML, moved it to another folder, tried to open it in a clean Premiere project. Nothing works.

I'm on a Mac studio running OS Sequoia 15.6.1.

Hi @David23633973yjr1 - What XML settings are you using from resolve?

+1

Resolve 20.2.1

Premiere 25.5

My quick&dirty solution was to export a ProRes and run a Scene Edit Detection in Premiere.

Worked for this project but would rally like a solution since I´m roundtripping 100% of all my projects

Hi @Joe_wpi - Can you post the settings you are using for your aaf, it sounds like you are trying to consolidate your sequence instead of just linking to the files.

@jamieclarke Please explain this workaround. I dont see ProRes options for AAF and the MXF files that AAF puts out are giving import errors in Premiere. This bug has me at a standstill. and its insane adobe can create such critial bug without offering any explination of a work around.
Please advise!

HI @David23633973yjr1 - Thank you for reporting this. I was able to reproduce the issue and have filed a bug report. We’ll update this thread as soon as we have more information to share.

As a workaround I was able to export an AAF from Resolve.

  • Issue – I can not import an XML from Resolve.
  • Steps to reproduce  I export a round-trip XML from Resolve and then when I import it into my Premiere project I get an error box without any details or text. Using the "Premiere XML" export preset in Resolve 20.1
  • Expected result  I want the XML to import the colored clips that Resolve made.
  • Actual result  A 'file import error' that lists the XML file I tried to import and a blank box under 'error message'
  • Adobe Premiere Pro version 25.4.1 and 25.5, it was working before these versions.
  • Operating system – macOS 15.6.1
  • Video format  The XML is bringing in ProRes MOV files. The MOV files themselves can be added to the project manually.
  • Comparative information helps us understand more about when the issue occurs:
    • I've tried in multiple projects with multiple XMLs. I don't know if this a new compatibility problem with Resolve or Premiere. It's a workflow that has worked until recently and is an important part of my daily work.
