Captivate

I recently downloaded and installed adobe captivate on my computer. I am the only employee at my agency that has a license. When I contact adobe captivate to get support, I am informed to contact my administror. Who is my administrator? Where can I get this infromation?

I'm trying to setup a collapsible menu that slides out with an button click. Functionally it works fine until I apply effects in advanced actions to make it slide in on show (Fly In From Left) and slide out on hide (Fly Out To Left). It works once, but if I click to open again, the menu does not appear. I am creating a software simulation assessment in Captivate 9.  Is there any way to have multiple failure prompts appear like you can with a quiz?  I have it set for 3 attempts, but I wanted a hint to appear after the second failed attempt.   I do that in quizzes by just changing the 2nd failure caption.  Is this possible in the simulation assessment?

I obviously copied and deleted a lot in a project. Now there is an item that appears to be displayed across the entire application and was originally a variable entered in a text field.However, this text field can no longer be found. In the first screen in which the item is displayed, you can see it both in the project and in the export. But you can't choose it. It also does not appear in the timeline in the previous screens - so it is not hidden. And it is not part of a foil master.Unfortunately, I still have to delete it. The project is still in Captivate 2017.Does somebody has any idea?

Hi, I just updated to the latest version of Captivate 2019 and am having issues opening published HTML5 modules in Chrome - they just won't open. They open in Edge but not Chrome. Any ideas why?  Also, sometimes when I open Captivate and then click File/Open, it freezes. I have to do a CTRL+ALT+Delete...  Thanks for the help!Michele 

Hi, Has anyone else experienced laggy video/motion-path smart shape playback and losing sync with timings set on the slide timeline?Here is one example:I want to make interactive videos that have questions or slides pop up. Some of these slides may contain buttons (smart shapes) with audio. The problem I am having is that the videos seem to get quite laggy when playing back on a LMS as a SCORM wrapped project. For example I have a 60 second video with an overlay slide 15 seconds in. This overlay slide contains a button that the user must press within a few seconds of it appearing. If they press it within a few seconds the video will continue. If they don't press it in a certain time they branch to a bookmark further along the video showing what would happen. In reality when I am playing this back from a LMS the content is choppy and freezes for up to 15 seconds before resuming again and sometimes skipping over parts of the video clip!  On a separate note I have

Hi all, I'd like to know if it's possible to have: Captivate and Creative Cloud running with two different adobe id in the same machine (mac) Is it possible to do that? or It's a must that both packages need to use the same adobe id if activated and running simultaneously in the same mac? Thanks in advance.Jose

I asked earlier about why there are so many cache files that open when you open a project.  In previous versions there was only one for each time you opend a project now there are 7 cache files that appear in the folder when you open a new porject.  How do you recover a project from the cache files in CP8?  I tried a process that Rod Ward had written for earlier versions of CP8 but it didn't work.Any help would be appreciated.

HI, I'm experiencing issues when trying to record software simulation in Demo or Training mode. I use the Automatic setting, but the system isn't recognising any clicks on the screen and is not recording these steps. Can anyone help please?

...Hello Captivaters !... 🙂Today I started to play with video...I recorded a video from Youtube (without advertisement... which is so rare !!!...)I inserted it in my Captivate library and inserted it in a slide... but would also like to add a simple control "play/pause" button...I found some help (as usual) in Paul's video :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hq9XIyw_SFoBut I didn't manage to make the javascript code working as expected (or as explained in the Adobe documentation) !...So instead of the javascript command, I just put a "Pause" command... And it perfectly did the trick !...So I'm wondering what I am missing ???... It seemed to be so simple !!!...Take care and stay safe... And happy captivating !...😉...

Hi there,Looking for adviceI'm new to this but what I have built is a training that contains some videos, knowledge checks, drag and drop interactions, multistate objects, a lot of audio narration, etc.  When I've captivate previewed this training everything is working how I want it to.  I've published it and it has been uploaded into our Halogen system.  When launched from Halogen I'm finding that seemingly at random I miss some text or button, the thing is it has been different issues if I've closed it and reopened it.  I also get the dim gray loading screen as well and had one case where it just closed out on me.  I'm finding that as the course goes on there will be more issues the further it goes.  Currently the captivate file that I'm working with is around 180,000 KB, is this size of a file concerning?  I wouldn't think so but figured I'd ask. If you have any other thoughts I'd appreciate it.ThanksDale

I previously shared my video tutorials to the Adobe eLearning Community but I've decided to also include them here as well.

I've built a captivate slide where my user clicks a smartshape button to reveal another smartshape that contains text and audio. They can then click the next smartshape to reveal the next bit of text, and so on. It's a bit like a timeline interaction, except they're reviewing step 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5. When they click the Step 1 smartshape, the text smartshape shows but audio doesn't play. It plays for the others. And the weird thing is that if they go back and click on Step 1 at any time after the initial click, the audio will play with the text box (I have the advanced action set so that, once they've selected all the steps in order, they can click around however they want & text smartshapes are hidden and shown as they go). This is happening on another slide too, but on that one I don't force the user to click the shapes in any particular order. No matter what shape is revealed first, the audio doesn't play. But it will play on subsequent clicks. Any ideas? I'm usi

Hi.  I created a responsive project  for my students and add my audio of description to the slides one by one . but the size of the published html5 output in zip format in my desktop is 25 MB . is there any way to reduce the size . i will put it on the lmsI am beginner into the world of e-learning and captivate But  I have to do my best to do such projects to teach my students these quarantine days  so thank you for your guidance.

I have created a SCORM course in Captivate 9. There are 5 quiz questions at the end, worth 20 points each. When a user takes the course in IE, all seems fine. But when a user takes the course in Chrome, their score reflects incorrectly in our LMS. For instance, I tested the course yesterday in Chrome and achieved an 80% score, but my LMS transcript reads 60%. Any idea why this would be occurring in Chrome only? Thanks in advance.

I am very new to Captivate and have taken on the task of updating someone else's project. As the subject states, I cannot figure out what triggers an object to appear. Is there a way to generate a list of every time a specific object shows up in a project? Or is there a different, hopefully easier, way to solve this puzzle? Thanks!

When I hide an event video (3MB) and eventually show the video per an action/advanced action, the video appears, but there's a Loading sign that lasts for 5-10 seconds before eventually fully loading the video. This problem doesn't occur when the same video (3MB) is showing on the slide the entire time. This tells me Event Videos that are hidden and later visible via an action have a loading/buffering issue. Are there any ways to fix this?  

I've posted before but have yet to get a solution sadly. After downloading recent updates my DpiAwareness parameter was updated to 1 by my support team. However, when I try to create a Software Simulation I get the error that DpiAwareness must = 1. Can anyone help? Picture attached showing that the parameter is set to 1.

Hi there, I captured a video demo an hour ago and I've been editing it. Now the screen is suddenly white with no images on it at all, but the audio works just fine. Does anyone kniw how I can fix this please? Thanks in advance 🙂

Is it possible to have hotspots that stay on the 360 video while it's playing?  It looks like the hotspots only show when the video is paused.

Hi all, new to Captivate here so sorry if it's a noob question! I'm trying to create a matching knowledge check question with a shuffled 1st column. I want the slide to show the correct answer on 3rd failed attempt. I had been using the object state function to overlay an image when the 1st column doesn't shuffle, but I obviously cannot do this when using a shuffled column.  Is there any way of doing this? I've attached this image for reference.  I have done a quick search of the forum and couldn't see anything specifically about matching questions, although it was a quick look - send me a link if its already been answered 🙂 

Hi there,  I'm running into an issue while publishing my captivate project. Here's some context: I'm testing out a 360 project and have included some hotspots that upon clicking will reveal an image (which is a information filled textbox I created on photoshop), and at the end of the slide there's a quiz. While previewing in Chrome the project seems to run just fine, however upon publishing and opening the index.html on chrome, it doesn't play. I then tried on Safari and it did work with a few issues. The hotspots open the image, however the close icon (X) doesn't appear anymore. The quiz at the end also doesn't work. I've attached some screenshots for reference and labelled them accordingly. Any advice or workarounds would be appreciated!! Thank you!

I want to force the user to enter their name.  I have already set up everything up including the variable for username.  What I want is for the submit button to be shown only if text is entered in the text entry box.  Currently they can leave the box empty and click submit.  This throws the rest of the video off as there are now weird spaces and seemingly random " 's " floating because a name was not entered.   Is this possible?

We have a project in Captivate 2019 that after answering the knowledge check the slide won't advance.  We've checked the timeline and it hasn't elongated.  The student clicks anywhere on the slide but the slide just sits there.
