Learn how to create, build, and animate 2D puppets.

I need to import the project I made in Adobe Character Animator to Adobe Animate, same we do in Adobe Ae and Pr
It is kinda weird that the replays don't have the same name or color label.
When you first open Character Animator you are given a list of example puppets, but it's not easy to go back to that menu after selecting one.
Say you record a replay of a puppet dancing, but you want to use it in a song that has a different tempo. Wouldn't that be possible if you added a speed adjustment option, like in Walk Cycle?
Open up the other keys on a keyboard to be used for triggers. Especially the Function Keys. Also, would be great to be able to add a modifier on triggers.
Would be really helpful to have the audio track locked so it doesn't scroll in the Timeline. Keeping the waveform visible even when scrolling up and down.

Characterizer offers 3 way of building a puppet: 1) Automatic Webcam where you sit in front of the camera and follow the instructions2) Manual Webcam where you sit in front of the camera and follow the instructions (but instructions are more detailed and numerous)3) Image where you submit one single image with minimalistic rigging I am suggesting that Characterizer should offer a fourth option that sounds quite simple to me which is:4) Manual multiple images where you can enter several images or photos following the same instructions as Manual Webcam but instead of having to sit yourself in front of the Webcam, you can feed Characterizer with Pictures/Photos. You can feed Characterizer with:* Pictures of a puppet you already created (so that you can apply the various styles offered by Characterizer)* Photos / Screenshots of a celebrity or friend you want to puppetize
Please change the default setting to what you did previously, rather than some pre-determined default. It is so irritating to constantly have to go back, un check the red buttons, etc. For instance, in recording a walk behavior, you have to go back to the beginning, so your characters are in the correct place, then you have to make sure to fix the body speed so that they actually record. If you want to record it over again, you AGAIN have to go back re-do the body speed. There should be a default to what you just did and then go back and have a save function, like in every other program I've used.
I like using Dragger behaviors. Something intuitive about being able to move a limb exactly where I want it. Sure, I can get bad results if I overly rely on it, but it can help when layered atop other behaviors doing simple fixes. But sometimes when I'm trying to pose the character just right, I get lost in where the dragger handles actually are and end up grabbing the wrong one. It's not like I can go back if I'm having to handle multiple handles at once, meaning I have to start all over. It'd be nice if there was some option to be able to see where the dragger handles all are in Record mode. That way I know what specifically to grab to make a part move. Some keyboard shortcut I can hold down to show them temporarily, that will make them invisible when I let go, could be handy too.
Currently, there aren't a ton of options in the puppet maker.1) Uploading custom items currently isn't an easy task. How about a drop-down for each section where you have the option of adding an illustrator file to that area on the puppet. For instance lets say I'm looking at the chibi section and I don't see a Sikh turban, but I want to add a turban. So I go in and make one in illustrator. It could be added into the animation but if I want to have it as an always there option, having the ability to just add it into my own puppet for quick customization would be nice. And you could even include a blank for each of the templates to use to build more customization options.2) How about having a special section where someone could upload a different item. Tag it for searching and people can find them and add them to their puppet maker section. Then someone who was more talented could set up things for more users.
It would be very useful to have a closer integration with Stream Deck than there currently is. I easily run out of keys on my keyboard to use as triggers and to extend functionality to Stream Desk I need to run it as a midi device. Whilst this does work, it is laborious and having a direct integration would be ideal. This is not only for streaming but for general performance controls.
the ability to go from cation text to visems.. now thats gold!
The user interface color desperately needs to have the flexibility to change like in other Adobe programs. The black background is way too dark!
I've noticed that when I have Triggers record enabled, and I'm recording, say doing an overdub of some mouth stuff with triggers, other triggers and swap sets that are on the timeline don't play back, instead taking the currently active or default state of the swap set. On playback all is well again, but Id really like to see those other triggers during recording as they affect my performance timing on the overdub ones?Maybe an overdub mode that focuses on only one trigger and the others all playback from the timeline rather than being live?
It would be great to have blur effects inside CH to make more professional looking animations to separate puppets from their backgrounds. Dynamic Link with CH is so buggy and laggy that I and many other users have stopped using it as you can see from the community support forum. I have basically stopped using Premiere and AE all together and try to finish everything in CH even if the quality of animation drops to avoid using dynamic link and missing deadlines. So please consider giving us more effects within CH. thank you!
Ive seen others mention something like this before but it would be huge to be able to invert the clipping mask. Every other adobe program has this ability so Im guessing this is an issue to be fixed more than a feature request. The work arounds necessary because this doesnt exist are so time consuming, if they work at all.Thank you
I'm profoundly deaf. It makes editing audio and visemes a bit of a pain.In my everyday life, I lip read, and when my brain adds this to the bit, I do hear through the device embedded in my head, I do ok. It works better when I know the person and recognises the mouth movements and the sounds they make. This is a major problem for the alogrythm when trying to lip sync audio. We may speak the same language, but the sound and mouth shape we make it with varies a lot. I think there is a possible and viable solution.Over the last few years, I've tried out speech to text apps. These are very good, even with live speech, and it got me to thinking about my struggle with CA and Audio.Idea:When you auto lip-sync a piece of audio in CA, wouldn't it be great if it could display the text to go with it?Better still; If the text was displayed on its track above the audio file in the Player.Even Better: What about if this text was highlighted as you moved the play-head? It would match the text and wa
I would like to be able to attach or pin one independent layer to another independent layer rather than just the static body layer. I would like to be able to build limbs or even body structures that are made up of independent layers chained together, like segments of snake skin all attached to a single spine element. I'm imagining it like a blend on a path in illustrator, only I can now attach draggable handles to that path and animate it.
Hello, It would be great if CA would support Rear and 3/4 views of characters along with walk and run cycles for movement. Thanks,Rajnesh
If you have say three properties armed (red dot on) and you set up all the draggers etc, then you decide to arm the "trigger" behavior as well, it loses all the other values you set up for armed behavior properties (e.g. all the drags you set up ready for the record are reset). I don't think arming or disarming a property should reset values for other properties (especially draggers). It should only reset a specific property if the "arm" (record) button is turned off for that property.
I find myself always having to adjust the parameters whenever i add a cycle layer behaviour. If there could be a way to set default settings to your own custom ones then that would save a few more clicks.
If you have characters in similar size - choose to copy rigging elements from one character to another. Or have the ability to copy rigging elements onto a new character and make refinements if needed
