Current Situation Currently, the interaction between After Effects and Premiere Pro seems rather rudimentary and coarse: AE compositions containing animated text are imported into PP as pixel graphics, not vector graphics. So, upscaling them in PP renders them ragged. It's not possible to import PP sequences into AE for adding visual finishing touches to the sequence. You need to render them first in PP and import the rendered footage then into AE.By rendering, artifacts are added to the material as the rendered result is saved using a lossy compression format. Moreover, it's currently wasting a lot of valuable working time for rendering a PP sequence first for the result to be rendered in AE again. Desired Situation Why are AE and PP two separate programs at all? Why the back and forth? In a collaborative environment, every member of a PP project may focus on their distinct tasks within PP. So, this is my feature request: Just add AE effects and effect expressio
Adobe After Effects 1. Clip Organization: The way multiple clips are handled is cumbersome. Compared to Premiere Pro, the clipboard becomes messy when importing multiple clips, especially when they need to be placed on different sections of the timeline. This forces users to create multiple layers, which consumes memory and slows After Effects down.2. Color Codec in Composition Settings: There should be an option to change the color codec from Rec. 702 within composition settings, especially since other color formats are often used in Premiere Pro projects.3. Popular Plugin Integration: Plugins like BCC, Twixtor, Boris FX, Magic Bullet, and Re:Vision Effects are expensive. Since we’re already paying a significant amount for Adobe software, these popular effects should be included as built-in features.
It is beyond me why the disc cache is not cleared when updating to a new version of AE…I was running low on space and could not figure out why, until i realized there was still the maximum amount of cache for several older versions (the apps itself were uninstalled when i updated automatically). so my idea: just clear the old cache when updating!
Support for emojis in text layers.Social media and chat based apps have made emojis not only commonplace but jettisoned them into the common visual lexicon. The ability to incorporate emojis repeatedly & easily through text based layers will prevent commen errors in workflow and allow for copying and pasting of larger texts that use emojis. Thank you!
Importing projects with editable texts from Photoshop or Illustrator into After Effects only works with the Photoshop project, Illustrator is disabled. It would also be really cool to work with Illustrator to animate texts as editable fonts
Why Can't we import SVGs into After Effects the same way you can import EPS or AI files?... SVG files can be opened in Illustrator without any conversion, so why cant there simply be a bridge to allow import in AE?
I think it's interesting that the OCIO config titles are taken from the folder names as it allows for custom titles separate from the config file name itself but it's problematic at the same time. Currently the ACES version and config build version is mentioned but not the OCIO version. I personally think the names should be the same as the config file names to completely and properly reflect what is being used so it can also be referenced against other configs in other software if needed. Like Photoshop for example... Furthermore the Description field should not give a generic description of how AE handles the config. It should contain the actual description of the config itself like in Photoshop. AE: PS: I hope this will be considered and improved. Thanks for reading.
After Effects is set up to read the folder names as OCIO config titles and will pick the first in order as default when either opening a new project, or switching from Adobe managed. I think this is problematic because ACES 1.2 is a legacy config that nobody should use ideally. (removing it in next release would be even better imo, ACES 2.0 will release soon and there'll be too many pre-installed configs). The ideal would be that the Studio variant with latest ACES version and the latest OCIO config version is picked by default. Furthermore I think AE should remember the chosen settings (even if it's custom) when exiting the software or switching back and forth between OCIO and Adobe managed.
I would like it when the Fill Layer resulting from a Content-Aware Fill has no 'holes' at the frames where a reference frame was created. That would allow us to remove the reference frames after the Fill Layer is created. Maybe a switch to switch to this new proposed feature on and off?
Could the devs please add some options to the guides when you right-click on them? It would be handy to have:- Clear Guide- Clear All Guides- Clear All Horizontal Guides- Clear All Vertical Guides- Snap Guide (to pixels)
Please bring back the original rendering info panel. In After Effects 2022 and older versions when rendering there was more information about what AE was doing. If you turn down the "Current Render" tab it would tell you what frame, layer, and action it was on. This was very helpful to understand what parts of a comp is slowing down the redner or causing errors. Please bring this feature back. Thank you.
Use OptiX for 3d renders but sometimes it does more harm than good baking it into renders. There are artifacts esp when you use it in scenes with volumetrics that aren't processed well by the denoiser. It would be much more useful to push the denoising process entirely into post so we can have more fine control. It would be amazing if AE had OptiX denoising built-in. I understand that the OptiX code/libraries etc are all publicly available to use in any applicationThanksR.
Since it's now 2024 and it was implemented in 2020(ish) there has been no further integration of the ProEXR plug in. So I'd like to request that the functionality of ProEXR be integrated fully into the Render Que.Currently we only have the following options. While the ProEXR exporter has the following that are inaccessible by the RenderQue options. The "Include layer composite" is clutch cargo when trying to deliver embedded mattes to a DI house (or really any number of other reasons).Right now the access to the rendering of layered composites can not be queued, or access by any other tools and this is a drag since it also can not given post render actions, scripted, or accessed by scripting tools like Automation Blocks (my current favorite non-Adobe tool in AE). Thanks for your consideration and hopeful implementation.
Having to use a 3rd party plugin like Duik, Rubberhose, Limber etc is fine BUT it is nowhere near as fast as using something like ToonBoom, Cavalry or Adobe Animate when animating characters. It basically prevents decent complex character animations in After Effects as it just takes too long as it thinks... and thinks... and thinks. Please Adobe. Fix it.
Can we please combine the stroke and fill options window and have a hold click for fill and stroke styles in 2025? It's sort of insane that it takes ten clicks to change the style and color of both fill and stroke. Also, adding a color should enable the stroke or fill and you should also have the option to either put stroke over fill or fill over stroke.
Due to the precise alignment of yet un-named stars, I find myself with two Comps, both with identical names in the Project Panel. So, with current constructs, I can't find a way to ascertain which was the one that was edited last nor can I find which comp contibutes more to the overall AEP filesize; thinking that there is a good correlation between a larger Comp Size and most-recently edited. Number of layers may not be ideal if there are tons of Expressions or Compound Shape Layers - all happily tidied away within the Timeline. So, I'm ideating for a Date Modified Column as well as a Comp Filespace/Datasize Column in the Project Panel. We do have a Size Column, so perhaps should work as a container for a Comp's FileSize/Dataspace.FWIW, the workaround is tedious, manual and hence, painful.
For complex situations, I work a lot with PreComps that I prerender to make a final composite. How great would it be when Ae could help in a modern way to manage this.I think of adding a 'Freeze' switch to each layer, as already kind of exists for RotoScoped footage layers..Another great example of this workflow it how Logic Pro does this: simple click a freeze button, and the track / layer is rendered. Unfreeze brings it back to an editable version. This would streamline these kind of workflows, without a lot of hazzle.
I often use one matte layer for many layers at once, but inverted.Especially when keying. So i use a tracked matte to separate the head/hair from the body, as it needs different keying settings. This matte is then used as an alpha matte for the head and an inverted alpha matte for the body. But then you run into problems with antialiasing, or visible seams, because of the different keying settings. It would be nice to have the possibility to contract/expand and blur to have an overlap (expand matte) with a transition (blur).THX
Let us change the names of layers and sub-layers in the Properties channel by pressing Enter key. For instance, when working with shape layers with a lot of sub-layers inside, it feels weird that you can't rename them there and have to go to the Timeline to do so.
Please add a new tool in AE that could deform the layer mesh by the vertices I set. Same as in Spine or Moho. Puppit tool doesn't quite do what I need it to do. It places polygons at its own discretion and you can't make sure that there is only one polygon between each point (as it is implemented in Spine).
For working with solo layers, I often need a second level of soloing. In compositions with over 100 layers, after soloing 20+ layers, I often want to solo a few of them without affecting the current solo list.Pre-composing usually impacts absolute parameters, and I don't want to tweak them using JS control layers.A double-solo or multi-level solo system, where the user can choose the number of solo levels, would be a handy feature to work with.
I'd like to be able to export After Effects composition markers to a .csv as I can do in both Premiere Pro and Audition (and be able to import .csv markers from these programs, as well). Additionally: Something I've found is that Premiere Pro and Audition export their markers in different ways in their respective .csv files. It would be nice to standardize the .csv to streamline export/import into other Adobe programs. I'll post a separate feature request for this.
Could the devs please add in a bounding box (with central and corner points) that appears around all selected objects in the Composition window? It would be really useful for the alignment of multiple objects, and could also be used for the transforming of multiple objects without having to attach objects to a null. Also if it would be possible to use the alignment tools with these it could be really handy, for example an option to 'Align section to centre/right/left/top/down'.
One idea that has yet to be explored: have more than one trim path on the same shape/layer - like how the animation in the video at the 0:11 mark: www.youtube.com/watch?v=h89RKznjEgo Let me know what you think
Howdy👋Currently there is some basic level of support for photoshop artboards in afx via a .psd file. However, AFX will import the psd and create a series of preComps, and a master 'overview' comp, as you would see all of your artboards within photoshop. However, it fails to set the preComp sizes to the size of each artboard, and instead sets all of the preComps resolution, to what looks like the bounding box of all of the artboards as they are laid out within the container comp. This then obviously requires a bunch of work, for what should work out of the box, bearing in mind that artboards were introduced in 2015....Additionally, Illustrator now has artboards too. However, there is no support whatsoever in afx for this.As a part of this refresh, it would also be nice to be able to do the reverse. I.E. have a project in AFX that has a container comp with nested preComps, with the ability to 'save frame as photoshop layers', and additionally (if the project is v
