Feature Requests

Each time I am wrapping up a project file I need to run the Consolodate footage, Remove unused Footage, and Reduce project.It would save some clicks to have one underneath called Clean Project. It could run all 3 or even bring up a box for additional options such as Remove empty foldersConsolidate Folders that are named the sameMove all solids to same folder

I know this has been discussed but still would be a nice ADD to have it so that you can toggle off layers below and adjustment layer so it does not get effected... I understand the notion of pre-comps, but in many cases, a pre-comp is not the solution I need.

It would be great if any properties that have been added to Essential Graphics get some kind of clear indication in the layers panel that they are driven by Essential Graphics, right now there is no clear way of knowing that a property may be affected by Essential Properties from outside the comp. This indication could be an icon next to the property name, or perhaps even a "pull" button to pull the value from one of the instances where this Essential Graphics comp has been used in the project. (you would need to be prompted to select which instance to pull from)

I worked for years in a 30fps environment. The 10 frame jump was perfect for that environment. Working now in 24, I really miss being able to jump by exactly a 3rd of a second. I would love a way to switch to an 8 frame jump using the shift/ctrl/arrow key shortcut. Thanks for all you do to improve the app!

Hi, I really miss the ability to set the range of the slider using scripts.When creating Essential Graphics (Mogrt) it is extremely necessary, setting ranges by hand is very routine 

Here is what I dream about for "Rotobrush 3": 1) It becomes as accurate as Photoshop's Quick Selection Tool. The QST is so freaking good at picking out exactly the areas I want. I wish Rotobrush was even close. 2) Pencil & Pen drawing tools like Photoshop that can add or remove an area to the selection. When I'm staring at a shape I can draw but Roto wants to grab half the frame instead, I can draw around the shape and Roto will add (or subtract) it to the selection and be able to propogate it on successive frames. 3) User-selectable regions for freezing instead of an all-or-nothing like we have now. I know it'll be a little tricky to freeze just some frames between the Roto origin and an end, but I have faith you can do it. Thanks,- DK

Feature idea: When changing the framerate for roto'ing a newly added video, to have an auto switch back option to the original frame rate of the first imported video. Countless times I get caught out with changing the frame rate for a roto, then forget to change the frame rate back to the original video in the comp.e.g.Video 1 has a frame rate of 23.976Video 2 is now imported to roto a head of a person. Frame rate is 29.97 To roto something in Video 2, it would be suggested to change the frame from 23.976 to 29.97. After the roto'ing is done, there's no reminder or auto switch back option to the frame rate of video 1 for the comp.

Just as fonts now, blending modes in Photoshop. Ability to scroll blending modes, effect parameters and other drop down menus with mouse wheel.Thanks

The CC Line Sweep transition plugin is missing the animation function on two of its parameters. Direction & Thickness are missing the animation feature to be able to keyframe or use expressions.

While I appreciate Adobe's efforts to cater to users with varying levels of 3D experience, I am compelled to share my perspective as a long-standing user and enthusiast of the 3D features.I have been an avid user of Adobe's 3D capabilities since version 5.0, and over the years, I have grown accustomed to the functionality and interface that closely align with industry-standard 3D software. It would help my workflows to have Photoshop inspired Layer Comps in After Effects.  To avoid confustion with Compositions, perhaps this could be called After Effects Layer Sets.   As a designer, I often create muliple design compositions of a layout to show clients.  Using layer comps (or layer sets) I could create, manage and view multiple versions of a layout in a single Composition.   A layer set would be a snapshop of a state of Layers in the Composition, recording Layer visibility.  Since time is also a component, Layer Sets could also record the location of the Current Time Indicator and the location of the Work Area Begin and Work Area End.   Here is how it works in Photoshop: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/layer-comps.html   I currently make use of Layer Color Labels and duplicate Compositions to do this.  Layer Sets would allow for versioning more easily in the same composition.

We need an option to change the corner radius individually like in Ai.

Wouldn't it be cool if you add a function that lets you see which layer is visible and which is not? It would make selecting/deselecting layers so much easier. Right now you have to look left/right to see which layers you need to select. And some of the time you get them wrong because you might have 2-3-4-5 layers the same color and you have no idea which one is which. Right now the bottom layer that has the same color (but its darker) is the layer that has its eye turned off (therefore it won't be seen on the preview because the layer is turned off). The other suggestion I have is for layers to have an indicator that they are using the layer above (or other layer) as a track matte. Again you can look to the left for the track matte window, but you can again select the wrong layer. Right now in the example everything is tidy and clean, but imagine you have 100+ layers that have random colors, different/overlapping durations... Its going to be a mess and such function will allow qu

I would like to request the ability to create custom previews for mogrts created in after effects. We have the ability to do this now by looking inside the mogrt file (using 7zip open archive) and add thumb.mp4 or thumb.png to get a custom preview so why is this not a default setting already? Thanks!  The other request, my team uses libraries and there is no way to customize the preview image besides the default way in After Effects which is a still image.This feature would greatly increase the way we use motion graphics in premiere. Also, since we already have the ability to create our own previews with thumb.mp4, this seems like a great addition. If would could just get the ability to drag a thumb.mp4 to the preview box in the after effects essential graphics window, that would be awesome. Thanks! -Kyler

It would be great if all axis and rotations remain visible while rotating a 3D object. When you rotate an axis all the others disappear and is often necessary to see where they end up.

When I select a layer in the timeline panel, said layer shows up in Effects Controls with All its effects open. ie: If I copy 4 effects (all closed) from one layer, then paste them to a different layer, they are all open on the new placement and I must close them to continue working in an organized fashion, (I train people and think it is best to only have open what you are working on, not everything at once) So, the first thing I do now in version 23.5 is take the time to close them all except the one I am working on. In the past, they defaulted to closed (I believe). I would prefer this, default to closed, then I'll open the one I am working on and save a nano-second. If I save enough nano-seconds over the course of the day, perhaps I'll be able to get more sleep and work better. Thank you.

Please make AE and AI and XD compatible when it comes to importing shapes with gradients. It would save so much time. I have to convert the ai file to a vector shape in ae and everything turns gray becuase it has gradients...a gradient circle stroke from ae turns into a thin gray fill. Importing from XD to AE completely disregards the gradient as a shape and presents an 1x image...These three programs are made by the same company, we need more compatibilty. pls

If it worked like Premiere, you could park the cursor over a layer and hold down option(Mac) and scroll the thumbwheel and that layer will enlarge taller or shrink to allow a better visual of the clip on the timeline. If you hold down shift + scroll the thumbwheel, ALL selected layers enlarge or shrink height.  Would certainly be a welcome addition while working on a 4K or larger monitor with higher resolution as those layers get pretty small to see what is on them.To win the Technical Achievement Award at the Oscars, if you found a way to make the text (clip name)on each layer scale up or down with the layer size, you would certainly get my vote.Thanks for this opportunity.Eric Williamson

Please add a proper history panel to After Effects! The History panel of the Edit menu is NOT user friendly at all. Couldn't tell which event came first. Can't undo going back in time if you go back to the wrong spot. Nearly destroyed hours of work!!!! Premiere has one! Photoshop has one!

I often have to search beyond the basic fonts for my projects, and more often than not, I find myself typing out my text in a composition and then bouncing through hundreds of fonts looking for one that works. During this process, I know basic information about the font I'm searching for (ie- it needs to be serif and condensed), but there's no way to filter through my installed fonts with this metadata to view only the fonts I need. The Adobe font library available in a browser gives me this ability, but it involves a second step and doesn't include the fonts I already have installed on my computer. If I could get a similar interface within after effects (and it could be something available in Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign as well), it would dramatically speed up my workflow and result in higher-quality video, since I could more easily screen potential fonts.

Be able to select and move markers simultaneously

I would love the ability to view a video or comp when working with animation.Often I need a reference video, and with AE not making it possible to place stuff outside the main comp and see it the only real way is to add it to the comp - but then it blocks what i work on...Apps like AI and Animate makes you place stuff outside the workarea and lets you view it.A simple preview monitor that follows the timeline would also be a great. Thanks 🙂

Hi,  We do a fair bit of work with right-to-left languages in After Effects, and would love the ability to query if text is RTL through the scripting API.  Is this on the docket? If not, can you add it?If so, roughly when would it be slated for release? Thanks!Eric

Hey, I work a lot with collage style animation in after effects and tend to use a lot the feature "Detail-preserving upscale" and while its very useful its particulary complicated in the workflow to have it a separate effect, specially when working with null objects and expressions. I feel that this feature would be much usefull as a checkbox next to the default scale property. I mean, why would anyone prefer no to preserve detail while upscaling? but in the case you do want to loose detail for rendering time reasons, you can simply uncheck it and thats it. I dont know if my suggestion its the best way to improve the workflow of the tool and not sure if its an idea or a problem feedback but anyway I think that the feature as a separate effect is a problem with null objects. We need to render AE projects on different computers concurrently  by cli tool.Current issues: When we use  AE GUI, a cache will be generated, as shown in the green cache bar in the red box below. This cache can accelerate the rendering of AE.According to the directory of the Disk buffer, I find the cache storage location in the computer (see the figure below).  I shared the cache through file sharing(samba) and set Disk buffer path to the shared path on another computer . But the test results showed no acceleration effect.So I want to consult： Is there any way to use the cache of AE on another computer to accelerate rendering.
