Feature Requests

Would be great to have a panel that is for notes. Basically a text file that opens into the workspace where we can make project notes and then be able to save that file as a txt.

untill now AE don't have this very usefull feature "exclude an layer from the adjustment layer" . i think this feature should be in after effect. now adjustment layer will affect all layers below and  no way to exclude an layer out.

I have come across a situation I am hoping Adobe can work with us users. ISSUE:I have nested comps that are a few comps deep. I need to access information from the grandparent of the child, but I cannot flow upstream. IE: MC_Container_A / MC_Framwork / MC_Footage.I need MC_Footage to access information from MC_Container_A. WORKAROUND:From many trial and errors I have work around where I have to name all the comps with the same trailing name. (A)IE: MC_Container_A / MC_Framework_A / MC_Footage_AI then access the comp name replace the "Footage" with "Container" in my code and access the information I need.While this is a decent workaround, the issue is I now have to rename all my comps in the project library and when there are tons of comps to rename and duplicate it gets a bit tiresome. SOLUTION:As I have been looking at your "Flowchart" view this has the very thing I need. Each comp has a flow and even when a comp is nested in several different comps, it has its own

EaseCopy (https://aescripts.com/easecopy/) is about the plugin I use the most on AE. It's so simple, and so useful I can't even imagine anyone that doesn't have it docked in their workspace. Forever.  It's free too!  I'd say it should ship standard with After Effects. I hate that even the simplest plugin is a hassle to install on my work machines because of IT bureaucracy. I honestly have a list of free plugins (and a few paid ones - Overlord anyone?) that I believe should all come standard with AE. But since one idea per topic, this one is for EaseCopy.

Does anyone use this community forum? Google first right?

Just a suggestion, maybe im crazy but it seems like a blinking square would be an obvious thing to include i the options. Would love to see that added in a future update! (like the old alien movies unless im misremembering) love this new feature!!

I'm sure this has been requested before. PLEASE can the app icon colours be differentiated. Currently AE, PR, ME and AU are all purple. It's annoying when one is trying to launch one of them.

Please, for the sake of my ears, lower the levels of these sound effects. Neighbors three houses away know when I finish a render. My family who lives in a different state is aware when my renders fail. Astronauts currently on the ISS are perpetually updated about every time I take a snapshot. Every new update, I manually go in and lower the levels of the files, but then every time I update I forget and the first render that happens shatters mirror and cracks drywall. Please, -10 dB on these. Heck, -15!

Why do we not have the ability to use multiple styles in a line of text? For example: SomeNamemainText = thisLayer.name; //Layer name is "some name"textOne = text.sourceText.style.setText(mainText.split(" ")[0]).setFont("ArialNarrow");textTwo = text.sourceText.style.setText(mainText.split(" ")[1]).setFont("Arial-Black");textOne + textTwo ---There's probably an easier way to do that, but you get the idea.  This is a pretty straightforward concept, and yet we have to do a whole bunch of extra steps and multiple layers to achieve something so basic. Let's make this happen!

Honestly, AI, PS have the ability to change the font size of the interface but AE and PR don't?  At 4k the font size is so damn small it's hard to even click on things in the timeline.  I constantly miss click because even the hit boxes are like 5 pixels.  I was on the original Beta for all the Adobe products in the early 90s and have used each since until a few years ago when I changed professions for a bit and now I come back, get a 4k monitor and have to deal with this.  What have you guys actually done since the 90s to improve any of your interface workflows?  Other than the update around 2000 to the AE interface everything has been nearly identical to the Beta in every app.  No changes to help work flow whatsoever... You guys really need some company to bring competition to this industry because after the 10s of 1000s of dollars I've spent over the years personally as well as the money I had companies spend to build GFX departments that used Adob

Starting this off by saying, I love adobe support and this is my own fault for buying the wrong computer BUT Is there anyway to get support for the GeForce GT 1030 graphics card? I had to get a modified version of After Effects and Premiere to get my system to work properly which is fine for now as I am getting a new graphics card that'll work but it was a bit nerve wracking.

So it has been a long time since i needed to create proxies for after effects, but today I did and was horrified by the workflow. You have to literally do it one-by-one for each file in the project list. Alternatively, AE likes to just create a useless composition, per piece of footage instead to render, and then re-links all of those to the proxy.There is no way to batch link them! I decided just to do it in media encoder and do it one by one. This could massively be improved by being able to select several pieces of footage in the project panel and right click to re-link to proxies created (potentially externally with media encoder). Or it could be a scriptUI panel with a few user options that looks at the filename with a given variable prefix/append, ie.myfootageproxy and point it to a folder (either where the source footage is or maybe a custom one i.e. proxies) and it just iterates through your selection in the project window and links them up. So that's for re-link

Please provide links to download all past versions of the Adobe software.   We pay for Creative Cloud, and we should have access to the versions we NEED.  It does not matter wether the old versions are still supported or not.  

Next to each parameter that switches to relative values when that layer is parented to another, I'd like a small toggle switch that changes between the relative values and the absolute values. Parenting a layer that drives expressions on it or another layer, changes the values for those expressions. There are ways around it, but it's a lot of extra code that has to be added in manually for each parameter. Adding in a simple toggle button to allow individual parameters or the entire layer to show and use absolute values would save a ton of time and reduce my workload.

I currently use pt_shiftlayers a LOT to move 'blocks' of layers (the 'Shift selected layers' option), so the first or last in-point moves to the playhead and the other selected layers move with it, but keep their relative offsets in time. I'd like to suggest that Shift+[ and Shift+] would perform this task natively. It would keep the moving layers to playhead behaviour on the same keys ( [ and ] ), but add an extra level of functionality. Much the same way as we can now use Shift+j and Shift+K to move through keys for the selected properties only. Cheers!

I know you can customize your own hot keys, but it would be REALLY helpful if there was a standard hotkey for the "time reverse keyframes" functionality!

Hi,   With text tool selected, you can rightclick any text layer and simply convert paragraph text to point text and vice versa. However this is not possible to be done with scripting. Hi Guy's   Just listing some things that are must haves in todays workflow   1) All effects HAVE to be at 32 bits. I cannot understand how or why effects like Bezier warp or gradient wipe are still at 16bits. Not to mention Match Grain and Mesh warp which is an absolute essential. There are a lot of tools used in basic compositing which are still lying about in 19bits, whicgh was ok 10 years ago, but its just impossible to work like this now. Every project is in linear. Every project is worked on at 32 bits with the exception of web based motion graphics stuff (or other material ?) where you can still work on on 16bits or even 8bits in some cases. I mean you still have an effect called "Ellipse" which pretty much does what the name denotes...and thats at 32 bit...I mean people can just draw a shape layer wth 100 times the functionality then this effect...I honestly cant fathom how "Ellipse" is at 32bits and Match grain is still at 16bits. We would like to copy values and effects, even when layers are locked, so please let the lock prevent layers from changing, but keep 'm open for reviewing, copying and duplication.

Have been wanting this feature for a long time, it's been great for Premiere, and would love to see the same implementation in After Effects. We don't need to be able to collaborate in Ae in my office, but we often pass projects around, and this would save a lot of time hunting down people to make sure no one has the project open and we don't write over each other's work if we need to jump in and change a lower 3rd or something.

Hi, I'm brazilian, so I'm sorry I didn't communicate very well in English.In Windows, when someone clicks and secures a program icon and pinned to the Taskbar and drags up, some options appear to be selected.After Effects, for example, shows some of your latest projects, as demonstrated by the first image.  I think the Creative Cloud icon could have that same functionality. But instead of using projects like After Effects, it could show apps installed by that user.In my case, for example: After EffectsPremiereIllustratorAuditionMedia EncoderI don't know if I could convey the concept.But I appreciate the attention.I'm sorry, I tried to comment on this idea in the Creative Cloud part, but I couldn't find the suggestion part of ideas for Creative Cloud.

It would be great to have better text formatting options available with Essential Graphics – especially the ability to mix/match text styles in the same text object (bold + regular, etc.). Would also be nice to have access to all the character panel options (line height, etc.)
