I just found out that somewhere along the line, executing a CTRL-S or CMD-S no longer works with DNG files. Instead, I need to head up to the menu and select: Metadata > Update DNG Previews and Metadata I gather this is NOT the case for other file extensions. While I don't like this, I am sure there is a reason, but Adobe NEEDS to provide a shortcut to do this for the many of us who are keystrokers and used to shortcuts ... Maybe an ALT/OPTION-S or some such. Please, this is critical for many of us.
I would like to see an option that lets the user decide a certain behavior in LR develop module. I start my editing in LR, then go to PS for additional work. While the PSD is saving, I typically jump back to LR and begin to select next image(s) to work on. Often I'll have a few selects up in survey mode then POOF all of a sudden, LR deselects the image(s) I had been reviewing and selects the newly saved PSD file that got imported from PS. I'd like to be able to tell LR not to do this when the newly imported PSD file was automatically imported into LR from PS (as opposed to manually imported from card or other source). Thank you.
Much as the masking tools have now been grouped, is it possible to include 'crop' with the transform tools? It is a real pain to have to switch between the two when you want to correct perpendiculars and then crop the result (auto limit isn't ideal most of the time). Also, if you have crop open and want to transfom, you don't get the guide lines. Really, really frustrating!
Issue: After upgrading Lightroom Classic to version 11.0 where the new masking features have been introduced, and you try editing an existing local adjustment (Brush or Gradient filter) that had a Luminance Range added to it, LR asks you to update the Luminance Range Tool to its new version. After updating the tool, the adjustment changes dramatically and it looks nothing like it used to (it affects different areas compared to your original one). This means that you have to reconfigure your entire adjustment from scratch (Luminance Range wise). This is an example of an adjustment before the update: And this is what happens when you hit "Update": Personally, i have hundreds of images that i used the Luminance Range feature on. This means that whenever I would like to adjust my previous edits (which happens very often), i would have to re-adjust every single edit from the begining - which translates into a significant amount o
When displaying pictures in the Library module Loupe view, there is always a noticeable (2-3 sec) time lag to display a picture in full detail. E.g., at 100% magnification, either by zooming in from "Fit", or when displaying next picture while at 100% magnification, the picture is initially fuzzy and refreshes to sharp detail in about 3 seconds. Since I always generate 1:1 previews on import, I believe this delay is because edits that I've made in the Develop module have invalidated the previous previews. Typically I will have viewed the picture at 100% magnification in Develop, so a full-size image has been generated by Lightroom. IDEA: when changes in the Develop module invalidate the preview, save subsequent views generated in the Develop module as previews. E.g., if the image is displayed at 100% in Develop, save that as the 1:1 preview. This would avoid the several-second delay to generate the 1:1 preview in Loupe view.
If you do not save metadata to xmp, and you try a Open as Smart Object in Photoshop, Snapshots are not available. Request for Change Add a popup warning stating metadata is not being saved to xmp, snapshots will not be available. this comes due to: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/p-snapshots-not-available-in-exported-smart-object/td-p/12480072
There should be a keyboard shortcut that opens the mask panel with the top most mask already selected. As it stands, Shift+M opens the radial gradient mask window with a new mask. But when I'm copy and pasting settings from image to image, the radial gradient has already been created and pasted to the new photo. So I just need to open to the mask window and preferrably already have the topmost layer selected so I can immediately move the radial gradient around to where the subject is in the new photo. Instead, I have to press option+arrows buttos to navigate to the layer. Even clicking on the Mask tool button doesn't open the panel with a layer preselected. Why not have a shortcut just to open it with the top most layer already selected? It will save clicks when making small adjustments to masks that are being copy and pasted from one photo to the other.
Hello, Finally the new masking tools solve all previous problems , synchronisation between virtual copies cropped or not is perfect, even the clone tool has been corrected. The ability to substract from a gradual filter and to finetune this substraction is amazing. Bravo !!!!!! Now I am a bit surprised that they din't think about a shortcut to toggle between activation and desactivation of a mask, it is such a pain to leave the effect ajustment pannel in order to reach the toggle icon next to a mask to activate or desactive it. It is such helpful to be able to toggle on/off a modification to finetune it. Before V11 I just reset the effect by double clicking on the text "effet", then a ctr-Z bring me back and allow me to toggle. Now the mask color incrustation always appear (BUG) after after the double clik on "effet", so it doesn't work anymore. A shortcut is high needed. Didier
Method: 1. Create a new Blurb book with the default size, Standard Landscapes2. Pick a page, and add a new cell to it. Photo cell or description cell does not matter.3. Change the book size, say to Large Landscape4. You get a message "Your pages will be migrated to the new size, but positioning and layout will change. Some existing content may not fit and will be removed."5. The cell you added will be deleted. Result: You lose your work. Expected: Keep all the cells, scaled to fit the new page. Workaround: None. You lose your work. Note: The current resize algorithm is complex and wrong. It seems to remember the original page layout and revert to it. Nobody wants that. It is a bug. The correct behavior is simple. I assume that each page is represented by a data structure that is a collection of cells, and that each cell has coordinates. If the coordinates are zero-based to a corner, then after resizing the new coordinates should just be multiplied by
Hi Dear Adobe Team, Can You Please Add in update to be able to organize Presets Like we have in Develop Module, where you can drag and move around and make it to your style, so to where you can make presets the same way instead of being In Alphabetical Order. Let's say someone uses certain presets the most so they can move those to top, but the rest still be in Alphabetical order. thanks.
In Lightroom 11.0, to delete a layer mask, you have to click on the . . . icon and then select delete. However there is plenty of room right next to the . . . and the disable mask button for a trashcan icon. That way you wouldn't need to click into the . . . menu. You could just click on the trashcan icon, which would save you additional clicking and searching for the correct delete option in the . . . menu.
I'd love to have the option to add my graphical identity plate to PREFERENCES so that it will be displayed automatically with each new catalog that is created. Thank you.
Google Pixel phones sometimes produce files with an .MP.JPG extension. These have an embedded mp4 in them: https://medium.com/android-news/working-with-motion-photos-da0aa49b50c (Earlier versions of the Pixel named them MVIMG) I can use third party tools to remove the mp4 and then edit it. But this post is not about the technology, but about the business issue for Adobe. A Pixel user can edit the moving photos on her Pixel phone, or for all I know, in Google Photos. But she cannot see or edit them in Lightroom. This seems like an obvious ploy from Google to move Adobe users from the PS/LR ecosystem to the Google ecosystem. I would think that Adobe might be worried about that. How might Lightroom display a jpeg with an embedded mpeg? I think it should show each frame of the mpeg as stacked photos. It would also be nice to export frames and then delete the mpeg, which is very large. If it's any encouragement, I hate exporting frames using the Pixel
Working in LrC v11, both MACOS and WIN, but this for all programs and ACR Please consider the following request for change in the Select Subject Mask Ability to make multiple selections Ability to move pin
Here we are up to LR11 and still no CLOUD BACKUPS for CATALOGS and PRESETS. Honestly, I've been wanting this for years and seems like something that should have been included since Adobe went cloud-based. Why can't we have nice things? 😞
In previous versions when I would move from one photo to the next the mask tool would stay set up in the same way. I need to brighten areas of lots of photos one after the other using the brush tool. In the previous version this was easy but now when I move from one photo to the next now the brush tool doesn't stay selected and needs setting up again to increase the highlights. This will cost me a lot of time!! HELP!!!
Please make the "invert" mask setting part of the presets and affected by the "reset sliders automatically" checkbox. In other words, the "invert" setting should be "remembered" if the "reset sliders automatically" checkbox is unchecked. Previous versions of ACR behaved this way, in that the invert setting was "remembered" as part of the settings when using the brush, linear, or radial gradient tools (in fact, the invert setting was remembered specificlally to each tool. For example, my radial gradient tool *would* be inverted, but selecting the brush function, it would remember that I *didn't* have it inverted for that tool.)Basically, we need the settings for each of the brush, linear, or radial gradient tools to "remember" the invert and slider settings from their last use if the "reset sliders automatically" setting is unchecked.Look at how ACR 13.X handled this, and make it that way again please!
Using profiles has become an increasingly common part of my workflow. It would be very useful to be able to sort my images by profile, to see which are the most common in use, or find images with a particular profile. A third party plugin called Any Filter can do this, but it is a little cumbersome in use. I can't see any reason this shouldn't be implemented natively in LR too.
I'm very happy that in LrC 11 it's finally possible to customize the metadata panel (without having to use a plugin). That said, it would be even better if we could save presets for different sets of metadata, as the fields that need to be edited may differ depending on the type of photography. In Lightroom, I add info such as titles, captions and copyright info on many pictures, with a view of putting together exhibitions. For this, I need to print photos WITH text on. There is a good feature in the slideshow module that allows text to be edited and positioned around each photo, using metadata. It’s easy to process many different images with a formatted text. Although a problem there means that long text gets truncated, rather than being wrapped up… Anyway, I am totally amazed that this feature allowing text editing is not available in the Print module? The quality of the export is just not as good from slideshow, so I need to use the Print module… but cannot display a well presented text. It cannot be positioned, font cannot be changed… There have been numerous comments online about this incomprehensible missing feature in Lightroom such as https://feedback-readonly.photoshop.com/conversations/lightroom-classic/lightroom-provide-ability-to-print-metadata/5f5f44ef4b56
I recommend a "hint" feature for the subject masking that allows the user to suggest to lightroom which subject the user wants to mask. When the system gets the masking demonstrably wrong it could help to move the edit pin to an area where the actual subject is as a starting point for the mask. This is valuable to use the subject mask even when the system gets it wrong on the first try.
When creating a Smart Collection, you can choose which keywords will be searched to pull into the collection. However, these keywords do not autofill. You are required to type them exactly as they are, and if you make a typo, God help you. Please make these inputs autofill keywords as you type so one can just tab-complete the keyword when creating a Smart Collection in Lightroom Classic. Note: I saw previous posts about keyword autofill, but they did not seem to be regarding Smart Collections.
This is something that would make me very happy as scrolling through 17K photos, even with smart previews created, it lags very badly. Even though I have vertical sync turned on, I can see screen tearing. This is valuable for me as both the macOS and the Windows version of LR Classic struggles with it. This doesn't seem to be much of a problem with LR (cloud-based) so, maybe, you could integrate the same scrooling technology into the classic version, and make it cusomizable, of course. In summary, I'd love to see smooth scrolling in action, but the culprit is the lag between scrolling on the mouse and watching the change happen 3 seconds later, which creates a very jarring experience on a 4K monitor. Thanks for listening, Yours truly, Alessandro.
[You can now hide the built-in presets in LR 7.3 using a free plugin or manually with a multi-step recipe. --John Ellis]It is now possible, though tedious, to delete the built-in presets in LR 7.3 and later. See this recipe: https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/delete_default_develop_presets?topic-reply-li... --John Ellis]I really would like to be able to delete the develop presets that ships with LR3. I don't use them as they are in the way of my own presets when using the Library Module.
There is currently no way to control the default Sorting behavior, which I think is somewhat limiting. I almost always would like to have my folders and collections sorted by Filename. Insttead, newly created folders and collections are almost always sorted by Capture Time, which is far less useful to me. I think it would be very helpful to have a setting for Default Sorting for New Folders and Collections, with options being the twelve option found in the Sort dropbown. I often put a lot of time into organizing and sorting photos in the order I want to present them, and then renaming chronologically so they are named in order. When moving phots around between folders and collections, the sorting often get broken when the default sort by Capture Time is applied, and it is annoying to have to go through every folder or scene and have to set each to sort by filename. In leui of a new Sorting mode setting, I think sorting by Filename by default would be more helpf
