Feature Requests

When you connect an external display to an iPad, the screen currently simply gets mirrored. That's fine, but it could be utilized in a much more useful way. A simple improvement would be to only show the currently edited photo on the external display, similarly to how LumaFusion does it. Even better, however, would be to also alter the iPad screen to only show the sliders and not the currently edited photo, since it's already visible on the external display. That way the sliders could be larger and/or you could fit more of them on the screen at the same time. The iPad screen would then be fully utilized as a kind of control panel while the external display would only show the edited photo so one could see it nice and large.   Apple documentation for supporting external displays on iOS apps   This feature has already been discussed here, but since it was posted as a discussion instead of an idea, I created this post so others can upvote it.

Anscheinend gibt es keine Importfunktion für Prests für das IPad. Nicht jeder hat auch einen PC. Immer mehr Menschen nutzen nur noch ein Tablett, daher wäre es doch sinnvoll das man die gekauften Prests auch über ein Tablett importieren könnten und nicht nur am PC. 

I am a Germany based editorial photographer and I want to work with the Lightroom-Cloud and my iPad more and more since it's just a convenient way of working especially while traveling - even though the features and possibilities are still quite limited.   My feature request: being able to drag&drop images out of lightroom on iPad into another app in split-view with preset export settings for that case.   So maybe this is a very neiche problem, but - for my work I like to compose pictures to combine their visual elements and enhance the story telling as well as the visual appeal. For that I use to create exposés in apps like Keynote or other Layout-Applications. So on my Mac I used to export the files I want to put in the exposé onto my Finder and then import them into the application. Then on my iPad I could use the same files from the iCloud and drag&drop them with the apple pencil or my finger right into the layout-frame in e.g. Keynote. Thats very handy and a lot

Lightroom has switched itself to the "streamlined"ui, mentioned here: https://blog.adobe.com/en/publish/2023/07/26/adobe-photoshop-lightroom-has-new-mobile-interface-make-editing-even-easier-on-go and the option to turn it off no longer appears, the option previously appeared. I don't want to be forced into this interface change, it is honestly worse as a ui and I can't even change my images to the correct profile with it (the default Adobe Color profile is way off and is inaccurate).   Galaxy S9 Ultra Lightroom 9.0.0 Android 13

Make it availble to have plug ins from mobile/ipad to upload to website 

Hi, it would be really great if the Search facility could be improved to make it easier to see photos or counts of photos by metadata (ISO, Shutter Speed, Focal Length, etc.) much like Lightroom Classic.   Classic has a filter that lets you see this information easily: I understand that CC can filter by metadata, but its slow and cumbersome and does not include any counts: Even darktable has a great feature where you can see a small graph of the count of each value and you can select a range of values with a quick mouse click/drag: An a right click give a popup with counts and an instant filter: Why is this important? One recent example was when I shot an even with my 24-120 f4 lens, but wasn't sure whether a 70-180 f2.8 would have been a better choice. This was a slow and tedious thing to work out in Lightroom CC, I had to select each Focal Lenght individually and add up the numbers on a piece of paper. I love retouching with the Apple Pencil. It would be amazing if we could turn off touch painting while the Apple Pencil is active and paired with the iPad. This way, our finger touches do not inadvertently retouch the photo that we are working on, especially when using cloud generative AI features. Speaking to the latter, having this feature and functionality would help save energy and compute resources from inadvertent touches.

Is there a setting that send a notification when someone has requested acces to view an album instead of an email? Am i missing it somewhere?  A badge sound notification for iphones and ipads would be better. 

In light room I would like to see a feature where I can quickly sensor nsfw photos. Like a blur function in the masking section would work good. 

I think we as users who post to the "Community" should get a more active notification panel. When my photos have been featured on this section of Lightroom, I have no idea that it is featured until I see the blue ribbons. A push notification system would be so helpful! 

I would like to see in an upcoming update artificial intelligence options for quick editing of entire albums, just like there is in imagen-ai or aftershot, in which they analyze the latest editions in the catalog and create a personalized profile.

The only thing missing I find is to be able to rename the photos that are imported into the Lightroom Classic app on a tablet tablet. This would be amazing, especially when travelling or on the go, when the only device I bring with me is my tablet, not the whole desktop computer. 

It needs a change. We authors of photographic content uploading it to Lr Community need an option for users to have chance to comment on your photos. Add commenting option; this should have been done by now.How is possible smart people working at Adobe company didn't think of it until now.    

Okay, so I'd like to suggest a few things: To make the rotation tool(and about every other slider) more precise on the phone, as it tends to "jump" when I release the touchscreen, which makes the edition process a hassle.  Including a central cross for cropping, to make it visually easier to balance the picture. And also include other grids, as the actual is too limiting on a creative point of view. I'd like to also report a small bug where when I export a photo, it sometimes saves older versions of it, not the last edit.   Thanks for your time, and consider those improvements for the community!

HiPlease add an auto crop or Ai powered auto crop to Lightroom on iPad.

I frequently upload photos to my WordPress blog. The photos are displayed one after another. Lightroom (Lr) works with a "left-right" photo navigation. After editing, the photos are exported (with the file name structure maintained, e.g., photo _001, _002, etc.). When arranging photos on the blog, they are usually sorted by file names. Sometimes, this leads to funny or mismatched combinations, such as a photo showing the top half of a person followed by a photo of someone else's hands. To fix this, I have to go back to Lr, renumber the photos, and upload them again. If there was a "BLOG" view in Lr, I could scroll and arrange the photos appropriately within the program itself.

While editing images I often use the mouse wheel to scroll between edit panels. This has become more important with the advent of HDR - the "Light" panel is now quite long if you are using Curve and SDR settings. The problem is that, if the mouse pointer is just slightly outside the edit panels and you don't notice, moving the wheel takes you to another image. This is infuriating when you are focussed on what you are doing  - it breaks the flow.   I would much prefer it if operating the mouse wheel while editing did not navigate to another image. The cursor keys provide this functionality anyway, and they reliably move one image at a time - moving the mousewheel may move any number of images depending on how far you move it, so you end up on a random image. I don't think using the wheel to navigate between photos while editing adds useful functionality, but for me it has a big downside.   If there is evidence that people often move between images with the mouse wheel whi

The Geometry/perspective correction tools like Upright on Lightroom desktop are critical for architecture photography in particular. These tools should also be available on mobile platforms like iPadOS.

I think a fantasic feature would be a Generative AI Fill Flash. This would be subject detection, then producing a fill flash effect on the subject.  Bonus points if you can opt in to adding catch lights to eyes and "brighten" them up. Mirrorless cameras have great dynamic range and some don't come with a built in flashes (Nikon Z6 and up).  I rarely use my external flash due to the dynamic range of my Nikons and many venues don't allow flashes. However, it is teadious to do subject detection then tweak the light settings. I think this feature would be like a "digital" flash.

I'd love to see the following improvements for the App version on iPad (probably similiar in the other cloud versions): 1. Selecting/Deselecting images. e.G. "X" to mark an image for delete, it would be nice to klick it again so the function gets undone same for selected images.   2. In the Image Grid-Overview when I select multiple images I cannot apply "X" the to delete setting, i have to do it one by one.    3. Batchexport of framing & edit reply's. I love the framing export as well as the reply generation, problem: i have to do it one by one and can't do a batch export. I don't understand   4. Export with frame & Signature. For now I can only export an image with a frame but no way applying my signature, means I have to reimport it and export it again, this is quite inconvenient.    5. HDR post to community I love the HDR function and I also use the SDR rendering if it can't be displayed, but all these edits are for naught when trying to s

I like to do multiple version of a photo, but I often keep the more normal shot applied. If I want to share one of these versions I have to go through the process of: 1. Opening the photo 2. entering edit mode 3. applying the version 4. share it 5. switch back to my preferred library version   A suggestion I have is that for photos with named versions add some sort of expander feature that can be opened and collapsed. Think like the expander arrow on folders. It would allow easy access to those versions, while allowing you to also maintain a clean looking library. It would also provide a visual reminder that you have saved versions of a photo. 

It's very inconvenient to have to activate/ deactivate the filter button (stars and the three options (bad / neutral / good) every time. Why not suggest a gesture to access it. It would save us a lot of time. It means we don't have to sort and then retouch... whereas many people (like me) like to sort AND retouch at the same time.  

I use LR Cloud-based mostly as a consultation and searchable image database for a company. So all the editing work like copyrighting, captioning, keywording, star rating, flagging... is done LR Classic then uploaded to LR Cloud. And it seems these 2 LR apps were not built by the same guys ! Metadata fields are very limited on LR Cloud. Also the search does not look into the copyright field, so I cannot display pictures by the author. The search by keywords (added in LR Classic) works fine with 3 terms, from 4 terms it starts to bring up images unrelated to the search. And if I return some pics - edited in LR Cloud - to their base (LR Classic), a change in the caption field is embedded, but any star rating change or flag change, is not ! Annoying... Plus, why don't you guys also add the color labels in LR Cloud? And, most ideally, if the exact same Keyword Hierarchy as in Classic could be created and worked upon on the Cloud, that would be most welcome too.

In addition to seeing the grid, I would like to also be able to view my images at full size prior to import.  I don't want to waste the upload time or storage space on photos that I don't want to keep. The larger size helps if you are already viewing your uploads on a small screen.  If you have several similar images it will be easier to figure out which one you want to keep.
