P: Ability to create a Custom Crop Ratio preset

Where is the "Enter Custom..." option from the old Lightroom and how do we get it back (see attachments)? I like to make my photos 1080x1080 for Instagram and was able to do this in the LR Classic version.

I fully agree that usually, the positive and friendly way is much better. I teach my trainees to work the same way.

For YEARS I get frustrated regularly because I would need to work as following:

1. Prepare the RAW photo in Lightroom

2. Export the photo as JPG to HDD

3. Crop the image in third-party software

4. Import JPG into Lightroom Catalog
5. Check the photo again. Mabye start over at step 1 from here if anything stuck out after cropping

5. Print the photo

6. Check the print. Mabye start over at step 1 from here if anything stuck out after cropping.

It would be so much easier if the "custom crop ratio" would be available. I need this for every single photo.

On top, that's the reason why a lot of people around me are still not updating to Lightroom CC and stay on old version.

Therefore I can fully understand why people are getting angry and put their frustration in words in here. We feel completely ignored by Adobe.

PLEASE VOTE !
Antoine, yes that is true, but the best option is to VOTE

True, but you also have to understand the frustration after years of unsolved bugs. Adobe is treating its customers like excrements and deliberately retains features, so one mustn't be surprised to read frustrated messages on this forum.

I agree with Antoine and want to add that a friendly request is much better than an unfriendly.

It is just speculation, but I doubt they have any power to change Adobe's priorities. Bug reports and requests (which sometimes are just bugs but not acknowledged as such by Adobe) with tons of comments and votes are ignored for years.

This forum is merely a way for Adobe to get ideas for free and keep an eye on serious bugs, but in no way a true channel for feature requests.

The only real power you have is 1) to cancel your subscription and maybe 2) leave review on a app store.

After all this bad mood text I felt like exploding and got in contact with Adobe support. The only thing I got was a link to a feature request form. This in the end results in opening this page here.

So it looks like, adobe really gives a shit about paying customers.

Maybe *chris_cox_2148894 or @jeffreytranberry or @Rikk or @lightroomqueen have more chances to support us on getting this little feature. Or at least have another idea on whom we need to contact to get our "Enter Custom Crop Ratio" feature.

Please help us. This missing feature costs a lot of extra time per picture as we need to do this in third party software.

Sadly, you are right. Adobe doesn't care much about requests and bug fixing. They're focused on that community / learn / tutorial page no one ever asked. But that makes sense: Adobe is not developing LR for photographers anymore, but rather for smartphone users with zero knowledge on photography.

Don't hold your breath. Adobe would rather further develop stuff people won't want (I'm not joking, too many times coming across this) than stuff paying customers have been begging for for 2–3 years, if not longer(also too many times coming across this). Then they have their many sycophants tell us how great we have it by giving them our money to not get what we want for all these years. All we have to do is Vote and tell them that we want it. There are several of them across all the main boards you can go to for help, but when you have vote after vote after merged topic after pages and pages of merged topics of the same thing and pallets of cash rolling in and you're actually told (not referring to this topic) that Adobe has no plans to address the years old issue people have been wanting but will further develope the thing causing the problems in the first place, you know they don't give a crap. As long as you give them your money. I'm ignorant enough to have two subscriptions, one for myself and another so my kids can do their schoolwork at home. I need to go to the district and demand that they stop using Adobe because the kids won't know what to do once Adobe pushes away all their customers and no longer has a business.

Kick me off the boards for this if you wish. Voting for an bug/request counts for about as much as a bag full of holes. The only answers I ever get from here are Adobe broke it and Adobe has no plans of doing it. I can get that help elsewhere. Everything else I see here is other poor saps wishing our money went to software that actually did what we wanted after years of paying for not even software we get to keep, a service that was "sold" to us a being upgraded constantly to take care of this kind of stuff. Bah!

*Edit — I dumbly came here looking for an answer to entering custom crop ratios in Lightroom Desktop CC and Mobile, and voted for the feature.

there used to be a feature where the user could pre-set the crop ratio. this feature seems to be gone. could somebody put it back? something so simple as cropping takes so much time when I need a very specific crop ratio. I mean why would you even take it away? please put it back and soon hopefully. hopefully on Wednesday 😄

Yes, please add it in LR Cloud Versions!
