P: Compare Photos and Survey Mode

I really miss the ability to pick 1-2-3 similar photos from a shoot and compare them during my editing process to pick the beset one of the three.

Please bring that back to this version.

I am working a project that required side by side comparison of images in Lightroom 4.2. To my surprise this opposition is only available in CC not in the latest version. I don't want or need two version on system. Is there a work around a plus in or an update?

Please add reference/comparison view to Lightroom CC! It's so important to be able to compare photos within a set to make sure it looks cohesive. Yes the edit/original is nice, but comparing different shots to each other is essential as well. Please allow us to view onscreen simultaneously. Thanks

Lightroom Classic is my main photo application. I depend on it for 90% of my photo needs. I'm thinking about using Lightroom 'cloud' when traveling. I use compare and survey routinely in Classic. Not having compare and survey is  a deal breaker for Lightroom cloud for me. Please Adobe, add these tools to Lightroom!

@Rikk Sure it's not meant to be a replacement for Classic, but there's not great interoperobility between the two. If this is Adobe's official stance that LR CC desktop will never get a photo comparison in order to keep the two visions distinct, could you elaborate a bit on the reasoning behind that?

This is a pretty basic feature that'd be useful across a wide range of use cases. They've added gradients and point editing etc which are more "advanced"... being able to compare photos seems like it shouldn't be gated behind the classic version.

The grid zoom is a hack I've used, but sometimes I'll be switching lenses or areas of focus then reshooting something when light has changed... it's not always just 2-3 photos right next to each other I want to compare.

Adding the Compare feature as well as Smart Albums to Lightroom CC should be a no brainer and would elevate CC to a viable application for those with large catalogs that need to be curated and organized and edited. Classic and CC will still be different apps for different purposes regardless. But right now CC is fairly useless for any viable workflows without some of these basic features. if the goal is cloud server access, easier to just use Apple Photos or other apps that are more feature rich than CC.

"This is not a case of "old version vs. new version." Lightroom desktop is not designed to be a replacement for Lightroom Classic. "

Exactly.

@Shawn Lee This is not a case of "old version vs. new version." Lightroom desktop is not designed to be a replacement for Lightroom Classic.

I fully support the feature request, and I would value a Compare view in my own workflow. However, since I don't have a magic wand to make it happen overnight, the workaround may help the original poster in the meantime.

to the queen, "increasing the Grid view to maximum is as close as you can get right now", nice, compromise well done!

the old house has a mirror which is essential, then people asking why this new house doesn't have one, what you said is well, you can use the window glass as a mirror right now.

really? r u a queen, or an unconscious evil defender.

Lightroom Desktop doesn't have a compare mode at this time, increasing the Grid view to maximum is as close as you can get right now. I'll merge your post into the existing feature request to add your vote, as the number of votes is taken into account when prioritizing feature requests.

Oh did I mention this can't-drag-files-into-empty-album bug is there for 2 YEARs! not some negligence then quickly fixed next update.

Good luck to those of you still think Adobe is a great company.
