P: Support scalable user interface UI for high resolution monitors

I'm using a high resolution monitor(2560x1600). As a result, all the the toolbar fonts and menu fonts are small and hard to see. I do not want to lower the screen resolution as this would defeat the purpose of this monitor.. Will the new CS6 have the ability to increase font sizes to accommidate Hi-Res monitors?

Thanks

Oh, it should - but not for many of the mistaken reasons listed in this topic. (and you need to read my responses more carefully)

It should be scalable for true high-resolution displays (which are just now available).
It should be scalable for people with vision problems.
But larger displays don't increase the display density, and don't need scaled UI components.

@Chris, You are defending a defenseless position. The toolbar should be scalable, period, end of discussion. What you are doing is called deflection, not addressing the problem subject. If I were your boss, you'd be in trouble.

Larger displays are not higher resolution - just more pixels, or the same pixel count over a larger area.

On a 30 or 40" display, the toolbar would be the same size as on a 21" display at the same resolution (pixels per inch). And on most of those displays, it works just fine as-is. Only on higher resolution displays (like the new retina displays at 200 ppi) is the size a problem.

As people have confirmed, CS6 has the same issue, so it looks like I won't be upgrading. I suspect even if I did buy a 32" or 40" screen to edit, because the res is so high the toolbar would disappear to a line which would still be impossible to see.

I guess I could buy those magnifying strips that people use to read small font and sellotape a couple together and stick it to my monitor. But....considering I paid a fortune for both my mac and all the adobe master suite programs, I kinda feel slightly outraged on principle that I am having to do my own work-around and fudge things. Goes without saying whoever did the project didn't do any "real" end user testing or feedback, and if they did, it was probably considered too much of a change to warrant the cost of expanding the toolbar size. Shame, again profit vs customer satisfaction and loyalty and it would appear that minimal changes and sticking a 6 on the end is more important than actually creating a world class product that people would highly recommend. Think of all the people that have vision issues that this product will not reach due to this issue. They are nailing themselves in the foot and they don't even realise it. It would be interesting to see the ratios between product purchase vs expected sales vs actual and do a pivot table over the years to compare. I would expect to see, yes an increase in purchases due to economic growth, but on the grand scale of things in relation to the actual % of growth vs purchases over the year...a decline in sales. But again, I guess as long as sales figures do not decline each year they don't care. It will come back to haunt them.

I'm 28 🙂 and just logged a similar comment and was wondering if others had it, and here it is!

It is a shame they still did not bother to correct this issue.

My eyes are going kaputt, thanks to Adobe!

I guess Adobe is too busy trying to find ways to rep-off its customers and doesn't have time to fix what they really want. Sometimes I think they think they're running an airline.

The buttons in the toolbars and panels are too small.
I changed the UI text size to "Large" but the result is not really large.
Large Fonts are only at about 2mm !!!!!! on the monitor!!!!
The program seems to have been designed by teenagers with perfect eyesight..
This is a very fundamental problem in an otherwise fantastic program.
The User Interface (Tool bar, Application Bar, Etc) is too small and should be able to be enlarged easily!!!
-----------------------------------
That it's something that Adobe has to fix, I think.
I can see the menues, etc., but only when my face is inches from my laptop. It's like working blind. Horrible.
Large UI-Fonts in menu are only about 2mm!!!
Is there an update for CS6 to have the ability to increase font sizes to accommidate Hi-Res monitors?
Changing the screen resolution is NOT a fix.
Adobe is ignoring this issue!
-----------------------------------
If possible, ADOBE will work on it to make this available as a feature in the next update/release of the product?

I have just upgraded to CS6. Cost me a lot of money - but I can't use it. Will Adobe be supplying eye tests and spectacles to customers? Or was the magnifying-glass left out of my software box?

Adobe - please listen, please act. The icons/tool panels are too small.
