Hello Community,When publishing a document in HTML 5, the output shows downscaled versions of the images within frame maker. The images are PDFs imported into anchored frames and look great when publishing to PDF.What can I do to increase the image quality when publishing to HTML5?Thank you.
I'm working in a FrameMaker-Book.Chapter 1 uses heading1 and in the text for heading1 there is one letter superscripted with a character format "sup".In the Table of Content (TOC) I find the superscripted letter perfectly again, but the hyperlink doesn't work anymore.Exemple:Hello this is my high heading1 titleIn TOC I also find the same text correctly again, but from "high" until the end of the line, the hyperlink doesn't work anymore. Neither in FrameMaker nor in the PDF I'm writing.I have tested it with FrameMaker 12 and 13 in the German version and on FrameMaker 7.2 English version. Is there a workaround?
Hello, is it possible to change the program language after installation? If so, how does it work?
I have a document that uses Adobe Garamond Pro, and one paragraph style which calls for angle = italic. The font is not greyed out in the Paragraph designer, and the document displays correctly on screen. When I use Save as PDF, the paragraph with the setting angle = italic is rendered in Courier (or some other typewriter font) with bizarre kerning. What's going on, and how do I correct it? Let me know if you need extra information.
I inherited a document that was created in QuickSilver (which no one seems to have). I converted the resulting PDF to FrameMaker and then reformatted/styled everything. Now we are to the point when Help files are being requested.Apparently, in QuickSilver, you can bookmark sections that automatically generate PDFs of, for example, just pages 2-14. The result was a suite of 200 or so Help files based on snippets of the whole.Does Frame have a similar bookmarking/tagging options to automatically create Help files? Our other option is to just Print to PDF and specify the page range. Doable but not automated. Thanks for the feedback!Meredith
Dear all,Script part InsertXRef2 works correctly when starting in a document (case a). It does not insert the cross reference if the document is a book component (case b).In case a the footnote references and the endnotes are in the same document (at end).In case b the footnote references are in one book component and the endnotes are collected in a new book component. When calling InsertXRef2 the arguments are:a: oDoc = app.ActiveDoc;b: oDoc = SimpleOpen (goFno.aoBkDocsCollected[jDoc].Name);a,b: oTR = new TextRange (oTL1, oTL2); // the footnote referencea,b: sXRefFmt = "zenref-endnote-reference" containing "<hypertext><super>\ <$paranumonly>\ "a: oTgtDoc = oDoc;b: oTgtDoc = SimpleNewDoc (oTplDoc.Name, 0);a,b: oTgtTL = goFno.aoEndNoteTL; // Begin of endnote in oTgtDoc I get this output for the first foot
Dear all,In a document are cross references to EndNotes which are paragraphs towards the end of the document. The cross references have a distinct format ("zenref-endnote-reference").I'm able to insert new such references as long as the current location is prior to an already existent such XRef. For this I look for the next XRef starting at the current location.→ But how can I determine that there is no other such XRef after the current location? The Find process just wraps at the end of the flow and finds the first XRef...If oCurrentLoc is the current location and oFoundLoc is the result of the "Find next XRef", how can I determine whether oCurrentloc > oFoundLoc? There is no such thing as a global distance in the document (or is it?).Any ideas are welcome! My current idea is this:startPgf is the paragraph with the current location, where the Find startsfoundPgf is the paragraph where the Find found the next XRef.In a loop from FirstPgfInFlow (to be determined) to LastPgfInFlow (see
I want to convert Framemaker files to the Responsive HTML. I want the miniTOC for each chapter to convert to links without a page number reference. I want the same for other cross references-convert to hyperlink without page reference since it is HTML help and not linear.Ken
Dear friends,My whole script now works fine with the exception of the XRef update after inserting a new XRef. It works correctly if the target of the XRef is in the same file as the XRef (oDoc == oTgtDoc). Both files are open at the time of the update - and the active document is that with the XRef (oDoc).→ What may be the problem here? The blue XRefs all work correctly and point to a separate file (\endnotes). Manual updating with the GUI is OK, but why does this not work in the script?// --- Build new XRef and insert it at saved location Fno_SelectParagraph (oDoc, oPgfNew); // Required oTgtTL = new TextLoc (oPgfNew, 0); Fno_RestoreLocation (oDoc, oU
I don't see any posts about anything like this, not sure if it's a known bug or if I should report it on Adobe "bugs" page or not.I use FM 2015, up to date as of 7/31/2019, for PC. I find that often even after shrink-wrapping, FM leaves a tad too much space after whatever the final character is in the bounding box, such that when it's placed inline in a paragraph, and a word of text is supposed to follow, the space between the box and the word will be too large. If it truly shrink-wrapped right up to the very edge of the character in the bounding box (say, the way "fit artboard to artwork bounds" sizes an artboard precisely to the boundary of a drawing in Illustrator), then there'd be no problem; a spacebar space could be used with nothing further needed. But b/c this is not the case, I find I often have to grab the right edge of the bounding box, and size it inwards several points, getting it as close to the math character as possible w/out cutting the character off.PROBLEM/GLITCH/or
I've posted on this before but never arrived at a satisfactory outcome, so I'm going to have another go, filling in a lot more detail this time. It will take several posts to work systematically through my example so please hold off responding until it's complete. In our application we have thousands of images, some at low resolution like 72ppi or 96ppi, some at higher resolutions like 192ppi, 200ppi or 300ppi. The content of our application is displayed in a variety of formats, only one of which is a printed page (or PDF equivalent of a printed page). In some formas we want to display the images in their native size and resolution, while in PDF we want to be able to scale the images to an appropriate size. We do NOT want to have to create multiple copies of every single image in separate formats for PDF, browser, e-reader etc.The way our application handles images worked in FrameMaker v8, and our current FrameMaker 2019 implementation has inherited the methods that were used then. But
The weirdest thing is happening right now -- I am working on a chapter, and at the bottom of the last page, which actually shouldn't be the last page, I cannot return past the bottom of the last page and I know there is content there. A black line appears at the bottom of that last page in the document, and for some reason I can no longer see the rest of the images or text past this spot.A snip of this phenomenon:When I try to get down past this line, the cursor actually looks like it goes down into the footer, and it is bouncing around like it is going between content that I know exists there.Has anyone seen this? What the heck is going on here? I am at a full loss. Also, the page count of this document stays at 22 pages; if I return down below the line, no pages are added.
FrameMaker 2017 here, on Windows 10.My entire document displays correctly in Frame, and it displays correctly when saved to PDF format. But a text inset displays incorrectly when I publish to HTML5. I've tracked the culprit down to text and/or graphic objects placed on top of an image inserted by reference. To duplicate this, follow these steps:Place a paragraph or two of text at the top of an empty FM document.Insert by reference an image below the text.Click Graphics > Tools and use the Draw a Line or Place a Text Frame buttons to place a graphic object on top of the image.Save the FM document.Insert that FM document as a text inset into a different FM document.Publish the parent FM document to HTML5.When I do this, the image I inserted in step 2 is replaced by an image of the text that was above it. Not only this, but the font size and margins are smaller/narrower in the image. If the image I inserted is taller than the paragraph of text, then the bottom ha
We've recently been asked to upgrade our PDF output to comply with a variety of accessibility standards and requirements. We're new to it all, but our limited understanding of the requirements for "logical structure" leads us to believe that we must output PDFs with tagging that indicates heading levels and the like, rather than just the paragraph tag names that we use. I've been testing out our PDF generation process, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the PDF tags for paragraph-level styles to output correctly from an unstructured document. I'm also not clear on how to properly use the <Art>, <Sect>, etc. tags. In the example below, you can see that <p> tags are used universally for all paragraph tags, with <span> tags that hold the paragraph tag name. Even when I have an actual paragraph tag called "H1" they're tagged like this. However, they do nest properly (e.g., titles, numbered headings, and subheadings). I know that I can do things through Acroba
Putting pieces together.I have a cross reference object and want to follow it to the target object (oXRef.XRefFile, ???),I imagine to do the following:- open the target document- loop until i find the XRef marker with the content oXRef.XRefSrcText)... or is there something simpler?BTW: FDK reference: "XRefFile" The filename of the file containing the crossreference source. If the cross-reference source is in the same document as the cross reference, the filename is an empty string ("").This not true, it is always the absolute path to a doc.// Comment FDK reference: "XRefFile" The filename of the file containing the crossreference source. // If the cross-reference source is in the same document as the cross reference, // the filename is an empty string (""). This not true, it is always the path to a doc.
Dear all,File https://daube.ch/zz_tests/Endnotes-simulated.mif contains markers of type Cross-Ref which all can be found with Find dialogue or a corresponding script.I wanted to replace this method by using a while loop with NextMarkerInDoc.But after the first iteration the next marker is considered undefined (it would be the first relevant one).What is going on here?The output of the script (FM-15) below is this:Type.Name: Cross-RefMarkerText: 39380: 1Heading: Gugus-file1NextMarker: 1NextMarkerText: 37202: zen-endnote: 1 Just a footnote with some local formatting.#target framemakervar oDoc = app.ActiveDoc; TestMarkers (oDoc);function TestMarkers (oDoc) { // =======================================var oMarker = oDoc.FirstMarkerInDoc; while (oMarker.ObjectValid()) { $.writeln("\n Type.Name: " + oMarker.MarkerTypeId.Name); $.writeln("MarkerText: " + oMarker.MarkerText); $.writeln("NextMarker: " + oMarker.NextMarkerInDoc.Obj
Is there a way, when working in an unstructured book, to enable Track Text Edits for only 1 chapter?I have a book with 18 chapters. I'm making changes in only 1 of those chapters but, when I enable Track Text Edits, it enables Track Text Edits for every chapter.
If I create a paragraph style in an unstructured fm document, can I copy the style to another fm document?
How do I fix the following:"Could not open (filename of Frame Maker file), because it could not be found." The entire book is open and I am editing the file that FM said it could not find.
I have a FM document with CGM files for the graphics. When I export or save the file as a PDF, the resulting images in the PDF have very jagged edges on the curved lines and end points. I have tried every obvious PDF setting in FM11, but nothing seems to improve the quality of the vector lines in the exported PDF. I tested the export settings from the graphics software (IsoDraw) and was able to export smooth lines from that program. FrameMaker 11.0.0.380Windows 7 SP1 (corporate controlled computer)

I have a user on a fresh install of Windows 10 x64 build 1903, who is using FrameMaker 2017 Version 14.0.4.511 and is experiencing random crashes. The crashes just close out of FrameMaker with no error or anything. He has had it happen once while just opening a file, once saving a different file, another just moving the mouse around on the FrameMaker file, and a couple others he can't recall what he was doing at the time. They aren't frequent, maybe once a week, and I can't see anything related between them. Not sure where to go to for troubleshooting this? Any guidance? Thanks!
I just got a new computer with a 14-inch screen. How do you increase the display size of the toolbar window at the top of the FrameMaker workspace and the status bar at the bottom?
Is there a way I can configure my documents in FrameMaker such that, when I save them to PDF, the PDF properties fields will be automatically populated? I'm referring to the fields on the two dialogs in the attached images. Thanks,
I'm setting up a new computer and I want to transfer my workspace file to the new computer.
