FrameMaker

I am having issues opening ExtendScript Toolkit CC on Mac OS. It was working one day, and then two days later stopped working. I'm using it with After Effects as well. I tried opening it manually, and it still didn't work. I tried to uninstall and re-install it, and nothing worked. I can't open any files that are involved with the ESTK. I ran my computer in safe mode, but there were still issues with it. I changed the permissions with it. No one else in my class is having this issue. Does anyone have any solutions?

The latest not-quite-like-anything-before project to arrive at my desk was proved to be an ideal occasion to go back to MML: the styleset required is minimal, so I'm letting the developers experiment with writing their own tagged text. They like that sort of thing. The related question I have is, how long has MML been around? I'm pretty sure there it was there in FM5.5 when I first discovered my favourite documentation environment.

We have used single column tables for multi-sheet figures since FrameMaker was owned by FrameMaker (been doing this a while). The title is set to below table and the table sheet variable is used to count sheets. Title never gets separated from the graphic, sheet count is always accurate. Always has worked well. So well that we have import scripts to enter graphic control number into a dialog without navigating the File>Import path.Two weeks ago we upgrade from 2015 to 2019. Viola! We find that FrameMaker scales imports into a table to the height of the row. No option to scale or not to scale. This is a problem. A bit confusing until troubleshooting what was happening. If we insert an anchored frame first, the illustration comes in at 100%. If we let Frame do it, scaling can be so small that it is a negative percentage (how that's possible is anyone's guess). Hi there,Ever since I installed Office365 on my laptop (which was a company requirement) I have not been able to generate PDFs in FrameMaker12 for a book. I believe the Office365 update is the issue, as I was able to generate PDFs for books before that (however, only with RGB ticked).I've got Windows 7 and FrameMaker 12.0.4.445.Is there any patches/software that I should be looking for, that may be required and that may have been removed with the Office365 update?Adobe Acrobat Distiller DC has been generating the PDFs (and yes I know one of the forums say that FrameMaker12 only supports Acrobat Distiller XI; however, I have not had any issues generating PDFs with the DC version until now + I'm still able to use it to generate the individual files).Has anyone had similar issues?I would appreciate any help!!Kind regards,Jannica

Looking for a way to change the table format (drop down list in the Table Designer) via scripting. Does anyone know what the Fcode for some 'Apply Table Format' command is? I have no idea what the command would be called like, so GetNamedCommand will not help me here. Should I use SetProps on the TblFormat instead? Has anyone done this before?

Adobe FrameMaker 2019 constantly crashes while we use the Object Properties pod.

I am having a similar problem with the text in the book that I formatted (2 books actually). I used Palatino Linotype. When I create the PDF and print "actual size" it comes out fine--whether or not I use crop marks. However, the printer (whom I have used for years) prints from the PDF and the font comes out about 3 percent larger than intended. It takes up too much space on the page and looks very amateurish. I've tried every way I can think of and even tracked down the maker of the printer that they use. He helped me create a PDF that he felt they could print, but it still did not print correctly. I use FrameMaker 12. I am going insane!

Does anyone else have problems with FM 2019? I am not using it as a HTML structure tool right now and I can just move my cursor and the whole program freezes. The text turns to bars across the page - I will attach images if I can. I just wonder if this is happening to anyone else and can it be resolved?

Hi,On many illustrations in my documents I have text frames with labels (explanations or numbers).This way the size of the illustration does not matter, but the text size does always fit to the regular text.My illustrations are in SVG.However, when I convert to HTML5, it seems that I only have these options (Publish Settings, Optimization tab, Convert SVG to raster image):Option deactivated. Convert only SVG and ignore all labels. Bad. In the HTML5 I see only the SVG part (crisp and clear); my labels are gone.Option activated. All SVG is converted to JPG, even those illustrations without any text frames. When there are additional FrameMaker objects on the illustrations, these are merged with the SVG file. The quality is worse, but I can read text.Best would be, if FrameMaker would use the SVG files, if there aren’t any additional elements.If there are additional elements (text frames, circles, arrows, etc.), then FrameMaker should add this to the SVG file.When I would add the FrameMake

I am creating an application for a large customer who needs better control over the bookmarks in their PDF output. So far, I have been able to generate PDF bookmarks from special paragraph tags. The problem is that the bookmarks do not always reflect the exact text of the titles that they point to. Also, the titles are not always given the same paragraph tag, depending on a lot of formatting rules that need to be applied.As all of this is round tripping to XML, I have created XSLT to create fm_bookmark elements which contain the desired bookmark text and pick up a paragraph tag that makes them show up in the contents tab of the PDF at the right level. The paragraph tags "bookmark_level_1" etc. are made invisible by setting them to white font color and tiny (2pt is the minimum) font. The remaining problem is that it is a paragraph, even though it is invisible for the human reader. This means that spacing above and below the paragraph kicks in and offset the actual title from the top of

I have two machine, FM 2017 in 1st machine and FM 12 in 2nd machine. In 1st machine, on FM 2017 files i have imported images as a references. Later when I am trying to open the same files in 2nd machine (Note: Before opening them in 2nd machine, i have saved the FM files from FM 2017 files to MIF 7) not able to load the images.Any solution..?Adobe FrameMaker​

Setting up a certification document, where we want to manage the response to each question as a separate .fm file. 69 questions so far, 40 or so to go … and I can no longer access the bottom of the book panel: scrolling down gets me as far as item 68 and that's it.Given the content (I sha'n't say "structure", because I'm not using structured FM), would it be any help to use folders? I have no idea what these are for :-}I'll mention we're still on FM12, in case that's significant. Thanks in advance for hints and tips.

I need to use the Find/Change dialog to search for special characters (like the Greek symbol for Omega).  I can copy the character from the body of my document and paste it into the Find window, but in this case it pastes the letter W.  While this does find the Omegas accurately, it also finds any word with the letter W in it.How can I search for special characters using the Find/Change dialog?Thanks!

I have 1990's vintage Framemaker documents but I don't have Framemaker. Is there any conversion software available to turn them into Acrobat documents?

Hi,I had tested the export to HTML5 only briefly yet. When I use the default export settings (and some tweaks), the export looks good in my browser and on my smartphone.One thing does not work. When there are several paragraphs in a table title, all paragraphs are concatenated and do not have any font information. Which means Times or something like this.With a single paragraph everything is fine.Is there anything which I can do about this? What can I do that the export maintains the separate paragraphs?Possibly I will have more questions in the next days.Best regardsWinfried

Experimenting with XML and DITA to see if it work for my company.We make unstructured parts manuals in framemaker in a book format that contains a series of parts page documents within the book.This content must be made available in an XML format with a lot of additional information that we don't require for normal parts manual production -- the xml version must contain fields for remarks, serial numbers, etc.Right now this requires that the information be reentered in the xml format, filling in fields we have information for.Was trying to see if books from here on out could be produced in a structured format that could be exported from framemaker to xml.To test this, I made chapters in xml, and I can save these individually in xml.And I can export the book file in xml. This produces an xml file referencing the xml chapter titles.But in order for it to work I'd need the ability to export as one file of the entire book with all the xml in the individual chapters included in that file.Is

Is there a technique when building an EDD that allows you to add an element to a structure that takes up no space on the page?basically, want an element to be included in an xml document as an empty tag set, like: <part></part>. However, do not want this element taking up any space on the framemaker page. Right now it takes up a line of text.Is there anyway in the edd, perhaps as a general rule, to make this element so that it takes up no space on the framemaker page? Tried different combinations, but wasn't having any luck.

The document I'm editing contains a large number of icon images, and two of them are causing the document load to throw an error like "insufficient memory to import file w_icon_redo.png". The document loads and can be edited, but the two elements which import the two problem icons have simply been dropped.The problem must be related to the PNG files, because no matter how I shuffle the document around the same two files cause the errors. If I create a document which just contains a couple of words and one of the problem icons, I get the same error.However I can see nothing odd about the two PNG files which won't load. Hi All, Something that I messed with in the HTML options in FrameMaker 2015 is causing there to be no hyperlinks in the output. It was working, not it's not. How can I reset this to it's defaults? Thanks!

Has anyone had an issue with importing graphics into a table cell in version 2019? We have done this for years and now graphics are scaled to a ridiculously small percentage. The graphics can be scaled back to 100% and the anchored frame can then be resized but this appears to be a bug.

I have my figure numbering set up in a 2,000+ page document (welcome to government life) and have never had issues.  Recently, I had to convert the files to the newer version of FM.  As I was making changes and updates to the document (not styles), I realized that my Figures proceeded as follows: 2-147, 2-148, 2-139, 2-140..they continue correctly from that point on, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out why the figure number jumped back by 9! There are duplicates of figure numbers.  Any help appreciated!
