FrameMaker

I have FrameMaker12 and recently was given a new laptop at work. The laptop runs Windows 10. When I open FrameMaker12 the text and menus are too small to see. I am unable to use FrameMaker. What can I do?

Hello all,Is there a way to view a list of the text symbols used in FM 2017?  And, I don't mean View->Text Symbols (that just makes visible the symbols being used in the doc).  I mean I want to see a list of all "possible" text symbols (i.e. achor, paragraph etc.)thanks in advance.Ben

Frame in TCS 2015 has recently stopped printing to PDF on my home machine.  I've just reinstalled Acrobat DC Pro (from my work Creative Cloud account) to no avail.  And it has continued to work with Word and InDesign without issue.  Using Windows 10 on 64-bit.I've made no known changes recently, and don't have this issue on my install in the office.I've searched the forum and the answer from about 2012 mentions file paths to Acrobat 10.0 that don't exist any more.I suffered the same or similar issue a few years ago - perhaps with TCS v5 - when I had to print to a .ps file and then convert it.  But I can't do this either now.When I try File > Print, rather than Save as PDF I get an error message that says:'Cannot print because the selected default printer [ which is Adobe PDF ] is not compatible with FrameMaker. (Cannot query escape 768.)'Any thoughts?Many thanks,Ant

Hi,When I try to insert a character from the Character Palette in FrameMaker 2017 all I get is a question mark. I have tried changing the font in the palette box, but I still get a question mark. What do I need to do to fix this problem?Thanks for any help.Cheers,Elizabeth

Framemaker 2017 cannot print pdf due to following error "Cannot print because the selected default printer is not compatible with FrameMaker. (Cannot query escape 768).  My default printer is set as Adobe pdf.  Using Windows 10 Pro version 1803Note: I do not have Acrobat DC or higher installed- only have Acrobat Reader installed, does this make a difference?

Is it possible to create a two line entry in a user variable in Frame 2017 and then display one line on top of the other? I am trying to place a multi-line user variable in a footer. Thanks for any help.Cheers,Elizabeth

Hi All,It is easily possible to change with Pod "Character Designer" a property of a character format.For example, in a template file of a FM book, when a character style is selected, the change of one property, e.g. color, could be updated with "Update Style" button when the cursor position is not in a particular paragraph of a body page. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate with the latest updates. FrameMaker 2017 no longer launches. So, I uninstalled and reinstalled after first downloading a fresh copy from the Adobe License Server. Here is a simple table (no header, no footer, 4 body rows, 4 columns):This is the related structure:I'd like to delete the text in the first row at once:Select the entire row.Press Delete.The Clear Table Cells dialog box displays.Select Leave Cells Empty.Click Clear.The first row is emptied, as desired:But the structure has changed:The BodyText elements are gone, too.Before entering new text, I'll have to insert these elements again. Thanks. That takes care of that.But I'm having trouble changing the stroke and fill color for the rectangle. I want no fill and white stroke. But I don't see any option for None or No Fill.

We are looking for someone to come in to our offices in Montreal and help our documentation team transition to using FrameMaker. We will mostly be working from templates, so nothing too in depth needed. Ideally training would last 2-3 days.  We are happy to pay for expertise but we do not want the added expenses of flights/hotels, so really looking for someone local.We would also consider doing an instructor-led online training.All suggestions and recommendations appreciated.  Thank you.

I'm using FrameMaker 2017 unstructured. I simply want to draw a rectangle, but every time I do, this dialog appears:I don't want to create a Hotspot, I just want a simple rectangle, so I click Cancel, but then the rectangle disappears and deletes itself.How can I draw a plain old simple rectangle like I used to in prior versions of FrameMaker?

Is there a way to have the tables centered in HTML5 output? I have tried various settings and ways. I have gotten nowhere. PDF they come out perfect. Thanks

Hi all,We've had this ongoing problem where some cross-references work just fine in FM, but don't work in the PDF export (you can click them just like an x-ref, but they don't go anywhere). It seemingly does it at random, and it doesn't matter if you delete the x-ref and redo it, it always doesn't work for certain links.Any thoughts?Thanks,John

Using FM15, and every time I click the mouse to perform an action, FM seemingly hangs for anywhere between 30-45 seconds. Which is an eternity since I move quickly. Are there any specific settings I need to address to assist with buffering. I have 16GB RAM.

I need to convert .fm to .png file.Please let me know how to do it?

Happy Friday!This is a simple problem, but for some reason it's still beating me.  I am not a FrameMaker Samurai yet, more like a brown belt, if that helps!Here's the scenario:I have 70+ Figure Titles with images right above them throughout the document, and in my Appendix section, I created a neat little Figure Reference table with the Figure Titles (Figure X-Y) in one column, and the description in the other column.  What I want to happen is for the user to click on a figure Title and be transported into the document where the title is placed at the bottom of the page, allowing the image to be viewed.  What's happening now that I don't know how to fix is that the target shows up at the top of the page when you click the link to it, so the image is on the next page above, out of sight.What setting am I missing here?  Happy Friday everyone!

I have a document (well, many documents) that includes print-quality images.When publishing to html5, the images are downsampled into jpgs (that's fine), but the quality is not as good as when I create my own lower-res JPGs of the images.So... where I have an anchored frame with a high-res image, I put it in a 'print only' conditional tag, make a copy on the next line and put the low-res image into *that* frame with an 'html only' conditional tag.Some of these frames are in indented paragraphs, some are not. I want the frames to follow the indentation level. I found that I needed to set the frame to be 'At Insertion Point' (if I used 'Below Current Line', I had to use specify alignment (left / right/ closest to binding/ farthest from binding), which are not appropriate).However, when I mark the paragraph (with the frame) as conditional ('html only') and publish, the image *right justifies* on the web page instead of left justifying at the indentation point (e.g. on a non-indented parag

How do I change the format off all paragraphs in a document with specific characters without effecting the rest of the paragraphs above or below the targeted paragraphs? Frame 11.If I paste Bullet format I get this extra paragraph:

I have some documents in FrameMaker 2017 and I am experimenting with publishing them as html5/app. They contain tables though, and the tables do not resize dynamically to screen like the text does, when I do the conversion. This makes publishing to both print and html5 awkward because the tables look narrow in print but ok on the phone/tablet. Have I misunderstood something basic here?Bjørn
