FrameMaker

When publishing documents using FM 2015 (and FM 2017) to all html formats on a Windows 10 computer, distiller no longer is activated so no images are being generated in the output from the files.The generate images using distiller check box is activated in the publishing settings.I have not experienced this issue before and is new since May 7th 2018 (the last time I successfully published files with images included), so suggests a recent upgrade to something is responsible.Any suggestions as to how this can be fixed?

My trial version of Adobe FrameMaker 2017 will not print my current files (I have been printing PDFs from Adobe FrameMaker 10 using Adobe Pro X (version 10.1.16) printer. And apparently my FrameMaker 10 has been hijacked because it will no longer print files on Adobe Pro X either. Baffled. What do I need to do/use/upgrade to create a PDF using the new FrameMaker?Thank you, Ruth

Obviously Framemaker has the "keep with next" and "keep with previous" options in the Paragraph formats as well as the ability to control the minimum number of lines from a paragraph that show at the beginning of end of a page (widow/orphan lines).What I'm looking for is the same kind of functionality, except with paragraphs instead of lines.  I'm running into a lot of situations with nested lists and tables of contents where the "sub-items" will be separated from the "top-level items" when the text flows to the next page.For example:1) Top-Level Item2) Top-Level Item3) Top-Level Item   a. Menu bar missing Format, View, Special, Graphics and Table options for one picky .fm file? The complete menu of options (File, Edit, Format, View, Special, Graphics, Table, CMS, Window and Help) DO appear when viewing most .fm files, but for some reason DO NOT appear with the picky .fm file?

Hi,One of my team has just installed FrameMaker 2017 and has installed the latest update. Whenever they open FrameMaker, they get the following error:Cannot initialize API client c:\program files(x86)\adobe\adobe framemaker 2017\fminit\plugins\RHFrameMakerServer12.dll.Check for errors in the APIClients section of the maker.inifile in FrameMaker install location or your %appdata% folder, verify that theclient program exists, and make sure you have enough swap space to run theclient.Any ideas as to how to resolve/prevent this?I have looked in the maker.ini and the referenced dll is not referenced.Thanks

Hi,Which function of FrameMaker handels the fm-reltable (inserting additional FrameMaker elements). Actually I couldn't find something like XSLT preprocessing ..... only some r/w rules but I supose that can't be all.Thank youRegardsApollo

When I publish an FM 2017 book as HTML 5, the chapter-level topics get auto-named based on the FM file names. E.g., Chapter_1.fm becomes Chapter_1.html. Is there a way to have the topics auto-named based on the chapter titles, not file names?  E.g., Getting Started.html rather than Chapter_1.html. Topic file names are shown in the HTML 5 OLH's Search pane as "titles" of the found text blurbs, and titles like "Chapter_1" look weird. I could rename the FM files... but that would clash with some rules and conventions.

Hi,I already post this question in the DITA Forum. There I got the impulse to may ask this better directly in the FrameMaker Forum ..... Since a major update to Windows 10, installed April 6 2018, printing to PDF results in clipped Frame equations. The screen shots below show (1) the view insider FrameMaker and (2) the view insider Acrobat DC.(1)(2)I have Creative Cloud tools as well, in particular Acrobat DC. Running Windows 10, Version 1803, OS Build 17133.1I had this problem a few years back when opening a document from an older version of FrameMaker in a newer version. The fix at that time was to open a new an empty document in the new version of FrameMaker and then copy all of the content from the old doc into the new document. This action would resolve the equation clipping problem. It does for me at present. In fact the example above was created in a clean document. Additionally when I directly print the document to a printer (in this case an Epson Ink Jet), the output is find, no equation clipping.

When I open a single document and use the Save Book As and select the HTML option, the Paragraph Styles are rendered in a logical manner - Body becomes 'P', etc. If I do this for a book, Body becomes H4.Also, when a book is selected, I have no access to the HTML setup options in Utilities, so I can't customise my output.This happens with both FrameMaker 2017 and FrameMaker 8.I realise that this part of FrameMaker is rather ancient (the documenation talks about using Netscape), however for the project I'm working on, the single HTML document output is potentially very attractive.Is there any means of controlling this output from Book format?Thanks,B Wilkinson

Currently, the project I am working on has documents created in Framemaker 2015 version. I am planning to upgrade my Framemaker version, that is 2017. Just wanted to know, if I plan for this migration will it impact my documents?Will there be any formatting issues?

I'd like to print an FM document in CMYK.There is only one paragraph tag used in the document.The paragraph tag includes the font 'Arial Unicode MS'.The PDF has to be in CMYK (Print vendor's requirement).The font has to be 'Arial Unicode MS'.Choose File > Save as PDF...Choose the PDF-Joboption 'High Quality Print'.Deselect the option 'Convert CMYK to RGB'.The PDF creation is faultless.But the embedding of the font is faulty:'Arial Unicode MS' is a True type font (TTF).But Acrobat 'thinks', it's an Adobe 'Type 1' font.The result is that the PDF is not searchable.But it has to be searchable.FM versions: FM10.0.2 or FM 2015 -> Same resultWhere did I go wrong?How can I force the correct embedding of 'Arial Unicode MS' in a CMYK PDF file?

The paragraph format in the status bar is not updated and always shows the paragraph format of the first paragraph in the main .flow. Any idea?

We create separate TOCs for each chapter in our manuals.  Some documents are used in different chapters in different books therefore I want to be able to use the folder name in the hierarchical book to populate the title in the TOC (by using <$chaptertitlename>) for that chapter.  However, in order to set that file as the template for that chapter's folder, I have to remove it from the book first and then set it as the template.  In this process I lose the link between the TOC and the book and my TOC no longer updates with the rest of the book.  Is there any way to relink the TOC after it's been removed from the book and set as the template (or prevent the link from being lost entirely)?Thanks for your time,Orion DeYoe

Hello, all.I'm using FrameMaker 2015 in a Windows 10 environment.Since yesterday, FM has been crashing repeatedly and consistently when it reaches Appendix A in a book file that I am publishing to HTML Help (.chm). I have successfully published this 275-page file, and the entire 570-page book file, to .chm many times over many months. The problem does not appear to be the Appendix A file. My coworker just published it to HTML Help successfully. Therefore, the problem must be with some aspect of my FM installation or setup. Why would it suddenly choke on a file that it has processed, with no problem, for months?All suggestions gratefully received.

is there any way by which we can convert ar argument tag in to a table.

I've noticed that when I have a document open and docked to the UI, whenever I use Ctrl + Mouse Wheel to zoom, it undocks the window and I have to redock it. Is this a known issue or something wrong with my install of FrameMaker 2017?Tahnks,Quintin

In my FM2017 document there is a cross reference to text in a table column which has a hyphen in it.Example: column 1  | column 2--------------------some loo- | ...oong text | ...The cross reference in FM looks correct, with no hyphen if the line is long enough.Example:see "some loooong text" on page 123In the generated HTML5, however, the hyphen shows in the original position, although it is unnecessary here.Example:some loo-oong textThis effect occurs both with an automatically inserted hyphen (by FM itself) and with a soft hyphen (CTRL + hyphen). Any ideas what else I could try?

Is there a way to get a quote for FrameMaker 2017 (I currently have it) and AcrobatDC for a full year. Currently I have it that way and pay on a monthly basis. My company is now going to reimburse me, and is asking for a quote for a PO.

How can I find out, if a paragraph is inside a textinset?Is there any (hidden) property, that can tell me?
