Hi,     How to move textframe from top to bottom of framemaker page using textframe "Align" property in extendscript ? And i have attached screenshot for included textframe in top of framemaker ,and i have mentioned "Align" property.I need textframe move into bottom.So please suggests if any ideas.

Hi Guys, i am trying to create PDF as an output using a DitaMap and Dita topics in it. and I am able to achieve the same but want to change default template name (C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2017\Structure\xml\DITA\outputTemplates\ditabase.template) to custom template to generate pdf output.so any idea, how can we allow a ditamap/topic to use custom template instead of default one?

Hi,I would like to use dita for structured authoring; however, I still do not understand how I can customize the layout of my output.  For the PDF output, I cannot change any character style or images on the reference page. Which template is applied and how can I modify it? Same question for the HTML5 output.  I know that I can make changes in the CSS. But a dita hazardstatement becomes a bulleted list in the HTML output with typeofhazard, consequence, and howtoavoid as bullet points. Changing this via the CSS would not be an elegant way. BTW how can I define that FM will use always a particular CSS without creating a new one each time I publish my document?

We recendly upgraded from FM 11 to FM2017 and I'm getting extremely frustrated with anchored frames. In FM11 we used Anchored Frames to insert images into our documents. There is no consistent size with the images - some have their DPI set to 120, some to 200, some to 800. In FM2017, the DPI seems to be attached to the Anchored Frame, which results in all of our images being resized to fit the default anchored frame size. This was never an issue in FM11 - how do we stop FM2017 from enforcing this horrible function. This is causing us to manually resize close to 500 images in just one document alone. There must be a way to stop this from happening every time we update the styles.

Every time I click on a Text insert in a document, the paragraph style for alI the text in the insert is changed to the first paragraph style used in the insert, e.g. if the first line of text has a Header-style, all the text in the insert is changed to that style.

Hi All,I have probably asked this question before, but the issue has come up again. When you insert a table in FrameMaker, there are "default" paragraph formats for each column in Header, Body, and Footer rows in the table. In the MIF TblCatalog, they look like this:...<TblCatalog <TblFormat   <TblTag `Format A'>  <TblColumn    <TblColumnNum 0>   <TblColumnWidth  1.0">   <TblColumnH     <PgfTag `CB_CellHeading'>   > # end of TblColumnH   <TblColumnBody     <PgfTag `CB_CellBody'>   > # end of TblColumnBody...You can see them in the <PgfTag entries in this snippet. Are these properties exposed anywhere in the FDK? I don't think they are, but if not, I wonder why? It sure would be handy to be able to change them programmatically. Thanks in advance.Rick

Hi AllI have a book with 20 chapters or so, and I have to add volume pages to group some of them to divide the book in 3 or 4 sections with 5 chapters per section (more or less).In each volume page I want to add some kind of TOC listing only the chapters in the volume and theirs titles, but with a standalone TOC it shows all the chapters and titles in the whole book, and with a miniTOC it shows only the volume page contents.Is there a proper way to do this task other than using one standalone TOCs per volume and playing with the chapter styles to show only certain chapters information?Thanks a lot for your time

I have a legitimate copy of FrameMaker 8. The license code is apparently registered to a former co-worker's personal address even though it's the company's copy, so Adobe Support will not give me the Authorization Code I need to register it.Is there a workaround so I can activate FrameMaker 8? The company has batch files that are dependent upon this version of FrameMaker, which is why they cannot upgrade to the current version.Thanks,--Lynn

After upgrading to Windows Version 1803, OS Build 17134.1, I was unable to save a document as a PDF file using FrameMaker 2015 (File > Save as PDF).  Our IT guy was unsuccessful at resolving the issue until we finally rolled Windows back to the previous version (1709).—Just reporting this, in case you have a similar problem.

The links in my TOC break as soon as a subscript or superscript appears in the line of text. I tried copying the marker at the beginning of the line of text and adding it to the subscript/superscript, but nothing changed. I also tried adding the marker to the (normal) text immediately following the subscript/superscript, and still nothing changed. Lastly, I tried adding the marker in both of these places, and still could not get the link to work past subscript/superscript.Does anyone know of a workaround that I could try?

I have a book file that has one appendix file ("Appendix A: Event Codes"). In the appendix, the word "Appendix" is tagged Chapter.num new, the letter "A" is tagged Chap.Num, and "Event Codes" is tagged Appendix name. My TOC file is set up to include paragraphs tagged Appendix.name, Chapter.name, Head1, Head2, and Index Title.     In the generated TOC, the appendix appears as "Appendix Event Codes: Event Codes" instead of "Appendix A: Event Codes." I tried adding the Chap.Num tag to the list of paragraphs included in the TOC, but that didn't work. Does anyone know what mistake I'm making?Thank you,Cameo

A fascinating new request from a colleague, about making .pdfs that are ready for the Acrobat "Read out loud" function. Aha! I thought; set the language in the style definitions, generate a tagged .pdf and Bob's your uncle …Or not :-{ I've explored the output .pdf, and while the language settings from the FM styles appear to have survived the journey, Read out loud delivers the entire text in English despite the language setting.Hints and tips on this new-to-me topic will be very welcome!

I am a new Framemaker user, using Framemaker 2015. I wanted to see what Framemaker would do if I did "update all" on a character tag in the character designer while there were character format overrides in the text. But I wasn't able to create an override and I don't understand why.... Here's what I did: - I have a character style called Emphasis which is AS IS except for the angle which is "italic" - I applied the style to a sentence using the character catalog - I highlighted two words in the sentence - In the character designer for the Emphasis style I noticed that the fields were no longer "AS IS"...they reflected the properties of the highlighted text instead - I changed the weight to bold and hit "Apply", expecting to create an override. The two words I highlighted changed to bold. - But when I do a Find/Change looking for "character format overrides" I don't find any overrides.                 I'm wo

Hello,in my FM document there is one page which contains the table, this is the only page which is horizontal oriented.In FM everything looks proper but when I generate PDF from this document, the page with table has changed size (more squared) and table is cut.Could you please help, do you have any idea how to save this document as it is in fm?thank you in advance.

Hello,The image below is a screenshot of the heading row of a table. This table is in a Word document, and I am trying to recreate the table in FrameMaker.I'm only having trouble with the heading row in FrameMaker. Below is a screenshot of my best try. I created two rows for the heading, but maybe there is another way to go about this. One issue I'm running into is the white line between the 1st and 2nd rows across the 12 small columns. The other issue is that I can't make the right border next to the text in the 2nd row disappear (nor the left border next to the far line of text in the 2nd row).In Custom Ruling and Shading, when I apply the "Invisible" Ruling Style to the top of the 12 small columns in the 2nd row, I get the white line. I wish I could just straddle the rows to fix this problem, but that throws off the alignment of the text in the 2nd row.For some reason, I'm not able to change the right border next to the text in the 2nd row or change the left border next to the far l

I'm wondering if there is a way to do a couple of things across all the files in a book.....1. If I want to define a new paragraph tag, can I define it for all the files in the book at once? Or do I have to define it in each file individually?2. Can I define and assign master pages for all the files in a book at once? Or again do I have to do it individually for each file?ThanksTony

Is there a automated way to make numbering consecutive across the files in a book for tables, figures, and headings? The Format-Document-Numbering dialog does it for chapter numbers and footnote numbers with the "continue numbering from previous" option, but that's it. Any ideas?

With Structured FrameMaker, doc files rarely open where I want them to. I was hoping the screenX and screenY properties would do that, but they seem to just modify the frame in the activedoc. I'm tired of dragging files constantly, or un-burying them from beneath the toolbars.In my case I have a really wide screen, so I have a main doc location on the left, my open tool bars in the middle, and then when I need it, I have a second document open on the right. If I can figure it out, I'd like to add some shortcut keys to force the windows to open in one or the other of those places.Any hints?Thanks for any help you can give me!Rick
