FrameMaker

HiI am saving a FrameMaker file to PDF and want to search tables in the document for phrases/words that break onto two lines. The table text is set to not hyphenate because most of the command parameters contain hyphens, and I don't want to confuse the reader. However, I can only find the phrase when I search for the part of the phase that is on the first line.  In the attached example, I search for "user subscription charging ty" and find both instances.  If I search for "user subscription charging type", I only find the one instance - the phrase in the second column.  Acrobat seems to add a space when a word breaks onto a second line.I need to be able to search for a specific, complete phrase because many of the command parameters break onto two lines and it's a large document with many similar parameters.Does anyone know if I can correct this behaviour?  (I cross-posted this question to the Adobe troubleshooting forum).ThanksEmmaRunning FrameMaker 2015 version 13

I need to create accessible HTML output through FM 2017 since all our guides are already in FM so we cannot migrate to robohelp or any other HTML editor, because it may take too much time.There are few points that has to be considered while generating accessible output.Structure -  I see an error for the title element which says "Title" is not marked up as a heading but has Font Size (30.0px) significantly larger than that used on most of the page (17.2px). Check if this should be a heading (WCAG2 1.3.1). So how can we make it as heading by default?Language attribute - I can edit the HTML for this. But, if there is some method to implement it within the framemaker, it would be great.Table design - This is the major challenge for me where I need to create scope for each row and column header. When printing books in Framemaker 2017, I'd like to see the progress.Printing big books (many FM files) can be very time-consuming.I'd like to know which file FM is actually working on.But FM doesn't show the file (name) in progress. Or did I miss something?

Hello, all.I am using FM 2015 in a Windows 10 environment.I am creating a template that has three master pages:First: Contains one text frame ("Top") at the top of the page for document title and type variables, and one large text frame for body text ("Body"), which takes up the remainder of the page. I tagged "Top" as flow B, and did not autoconnect it. "Body" is flow A, and is autoconnected. The First master page looks like this:Left: Standard FrameMaker master page with untagged text frames for header and footer, and "Body" text frameRight: Identical to Left "Top" is intended to be self-contained. I want it to be obvious to any writer using the template for the first time, so they know where to put the title and doc type information.  I tagged it separately as B, and did not autoconnect it. In FrameMaker 12, how do you type greater than/less than/greater than or equal to/less than or equal to? For example, how would you type "less than or equal to 3" with symbols instead of words? Right now, my workaround is to create a new equation, pick what I want from the Relations group, and then drag the border of the equation box in until it covers the question mark on the left side of the equation.

FM 2017: the Table Designer will not change the background cell color in the header row. I can change it with the Custom Ruling and Shading but I want to change the Header background color for all of the tables in the document.

Seems like a crazy omission! Why is there not the ability to do a Find/Replace a variable with a variable? There is the ability to run Finds for a particular variable name (although you have to type in the variable name - why not have a drop-down list of all the currently defined variables so you can select the variable you want to search for?), but there is no option to replace a found variable with another (different) variable. In my particular case, a predecessor created variables that included product version numbers in the variable name. When a new version of the product came out, a new variable, with the new product version in the name, was created and applied to each occurrence of the variable for the previous version. That, of course, completely negates the purpose of variables! I'm trying to genericize these variables so there is one Product Version variable to deal with. However, having created the generic variable(s), there is no way in FrameMaker to Find the old variables a

I'd like to delete and rename a conditional tag simultaneously.An FM file contains two condition tags: Pro (for experts) and Light (for beginners).Now, the beginners have turned into experts, and I don't need the tag Light anymore.The information (formerly tagged Light) should now be tagged Pro, too.Is there an easy way to turn any Light tag into a Pro tag?Did I miss something in the Show/Hide Conditional Text pod or the Conditional Tags pod?Is there an easy alternative without converting to/working with a MIF file (and maybe damaging it)?

Is it possible to execute an Fcode through a Hypertext command? I want to be able to click on a Hypertext link in FrameMaker and have it execute an Fcode. I see this in the FDK Reference on page 800: FV_HypertextFcodeInvalid: Invalid FCode in the hypertext command. But I can't figure out the syntax for doing executing an Fcode in a Hypertext marker. Hiya everybody, I'm pretty new to FrameMaker 2017 (and FrameMaker in general) and I have a small problem I'm trying to work out.I'm editing a manual made by someone else, and I have an illustration that has several "call-out" numbers on it referring to components of the widget referred to with this manual.  What I'm trying to do is to add a cross-reference from each of these text line callouts to the particular section of the book that would allow the reader to click on the number of the component in the PDF and get linked to that section of the manual.  No matter what I try, I cannot get a cross-reference to attach to the text line.What's the best course of action here?

In the Show/Hide Conditional Text pod the option Show if all Conditions Applied is a BETA option?Create a new file.Open the Conditional Tags pod.Create some condition tags, e.g. "Cond1" and "Cond2".Open the Show/Hide Conditional Text pod.Select Show as per Condition.Select the option Show if all Conditions Applied.Click Apply.Only the text tagged with every condition tag shows. So far - so good.Now the miracle happens. Save, close, and reopen the file.Check the Show/Hide Conditional Text pod.Show as per Condition is deactivated and Show as per Expression is activated. I have resized a photo in Photoshop down from 34" x 34" 72 dpi to the size I need 146 pt x 146 pt 300 dpi, and saved it as a PSD format to import into Frame 2015. When I import it into Frame, it is reducing it to 24%, even though the Width and Height show 146 pt x 146 pt, dpi shows 300.I have had this issue before and I have not been able to figure out why it does this.Hopefully someone has had this same issue and knows how to fix it.Thanks

In the Welcome screen I have just modified 1 line to get the "Restore Last Session" with a more prominent button.I changed line 37 from ... class="button tertiary"... to ...class="button"...But FM-14 insists to use the original version - although the modified version is named welcome.html and the original one is named welcome-ori.html.Neither Windows restart, nor clearing Temporary Internet Files helped. The file displays as expected in FireFox or IE 11.Where the heck does FM get the orginal file from? (I have never heard of an FM-temp folder)In the initial version (14.0.0.361) I did not have this problem, but don't remind whether it existed in 14.0.1.406.Klaus

Hello,I'm using Frame 12 unstructured and trying to setup a generated TOC I inherited from someone else. Everything looks great except even pages aren't seeing the formatting I set up on the reference page. All pages have a Flow A. Master pages are set at Right/left. Thanks for your help!

FM 2015 (I believe was the version before the latest) did this neat thing where you could display a variables pod (the one that appeared below the doc that let you edit, apply, delete variables) and my double clicking on a variable name, a separate window would come up that would list all the occurrences of the variable. You could click on an occurrence in that list and go there. Boom. (I may not have this described exactly right.... as the update took away my old version.Now, in 2017, all I get is the variables pod with the list of current variables and the add/edit/delete (etc) buttons. I've found no way to find where the occurrences of a particular  variable live.Am I missing something?

Does anyone know the difference between 2017.zero and 2017.one? Usually point versions are bug fixes, but Adobe is treating 2017.one as a completely separate version.I'm primarily interested in the changes to FrameMaker and to Captivate.

Some days ago a new FM 2017 update has been published. It is called Cumulative update (2017.0.4). What exactly does cumulative mean?

We've got some old files that have been updated progressively from at least Frame 7.0 and probably earlier (their origins are lost in the mists of time, but there are vague rumors of some pre-2000 A.D. proto-civilization). In the Reference pages is a page called Enhance 1.0 (footer page title), which contains the following text: Enhance Reference PageEnhance stores hidden internal data on this page: do not edit or delete.My Google Fu hints at some FrameMaker add-on of old, but I can't figure out what exactly it did or how it might be affecting anything currently in the file. There are no images in the file and all the tags have been update/changed/converted to things we want. There is no index and the TOC is generated through Frame (mini and main). HTML conversion is handled through Frame to generate HTML5. The files used to generate HTML through WebWorks conversion (years ago).
