Hi groupI've got a ditamap with some 250 referenced SVG files. When I generate a FrameMaker book from my ditamap, I get the following error message:Cannot initialize API client c:\program files\..\svg2pdf.dllMy "APIClients section" in my maker.ini seems to be OK and I have 16 GB RAM (running FrameMaker 2017 on Windows 7).Any ideas what could be wrong?ThanksYves

I have, and have been using for some years a copy of Framemaker 8. Following a disk crash I got a new PC, and tried to install Framemker. When entering the serial number, it complains that it is already installed on two other computers. It isn't!It was "installed" on the broken PC, and may well have been installed on a previous one when that bit the dust, but I have no active/useable copies of that Framamaker serial anywhere.Help please.

Happy Thursday everyone - I'm having trouble with a FrameMaker file not automatically adding pages, for either added paragraphs or graphic frames. I can't even add a page break. (The information is in the file, but appears to be buried beneath the text frame.)I'm adding an image that seems to offer a clue. The anchored frame in the image included (orange because it is conditional) has a black line drawn underneath it. The second black line is the ruler that is drawn in the footer of every page. I've checked pagination, and that doesn't appear to be the problem. Thanks in advance,

Hi there. I'm using FM 13.0.1.385 with structured XML.We've had a few instances where when a book (or chapter) is printed to a PDF (using either the Print or Save as PDF options), you can see the text on the FM page shift and then return to the starting position once the print process is over, resulting in an incorrect PDF. As an example, the last page of this 12-page FM file looks like this before we try to print:When we hit the print button, the text temporarily shifts to look like this (and this is what the PDF looks like):It then returns to the original layout.At times, we've been able to create an accurate PDF using another machine and/or the other print option.I've checked that we're logged into Creative Cloud.I've checked that the fonts are synched from TypeKit or installed directly on the user machines.I've checked the default printer setting.This is not a continuous problem; it only happens sometimes, which makes it even weirder.Any suggestions of other things to verify would

What data markers are you using for S1000D compliance using FrameMaker 2017?

I am trying to use ExtendScript for the first time (with FrameMaker 11, from TCS 4), but the script cannot be executed (very basic script example from the  Adobe "Introduction to Scripting" guide). The error message says "Cannot execute script. : Target Adobe FrameMaker 11 provides no engine for debugging"I tried it with other applications of the TC Suite: same error messageDo I need to install another application/module? I've got a book with a couple hundred graphics in AI files and I'm trying to wrap it up and get the PDF generated for printing.All the graphics display just fine in FM, but when I try to book print the PDF the system will freeze on certain files which contain photos. This AI file will print just fine:This one, however, will crash Framemaker/distiller:It just freezes here:I have to close FM in windows and then delete all the lck files just to get it to function again.Any ideas?Thanks!John

When I update/save, receive error message: "The document was saved to a temporary file, but FM can't rename it to have the correct name. The newer version has an odd suffix"  And indeed there are files with odd file extensions - New chapter.fm.D6B

HiWe are having some issues with importing/ linking FM17 into RH15. So we are trying to publish directly from FM. But we don't see the Webhelp option in the Publish pod.Please advise.Sreekanth

I increased substantially the amount of virtual memory on my machine, and that reduced the frequency of crashes, but FM 2017 keeps crashing.

If I open a new, blank FM document to create a test file, it saves a PDF. But if I open a specific, previously created doc and make changes, I get the warning box. If I look in the folder where the ".tps" file is supposed to be, it is not there. (I assume the ".tps" file is a Temperary PostScript file that distiller uses to make the PDF?) This sounds like a corrupt file, so I got a new copy from the archives and tried again; no luck. I have tried "print to PDF" using the Adobe printer, no luck (same warning box).

Windows 10 Lenovo 64.TCS 2017Started creating new instructions using FrameMaker. Our default company font is Arial. FrameMaker's default font is Calibri. Created new xml files with Arial and saved. When opening once again, I get this:The "Zapfdingbats" Font Family is not available.  "Adobe Pi Std" will be used in this session.The "Courier" Font is not available.  "Courier New" will be used in this session.The "Zapfdingbats Regular" Font is not available.  "AdobePiStd" will be used in this session.How to fix it? Under a deadline. Started creating docs in Word (argh!) just in case.Any help in resolving this issue is greatly appreciated.

I use Bentley's OpenRoads Designer software as well as FrameMaker 2017.  These two seem to be stomping on each other's dll files.  The most likely suspect is TBB.dll.Symptoms of the problem are that one program will run fine, until I start the other program.  Then the first program fails with an error that the dll is invalid.  I reinstall the broken program only to find that the first one is now broken.I really don't care whose fault it is but does anyone have a fix?

Adobe FrameMaker locks up and needs to have its process ended in Task Manager after selecting to view Object Properties the third time in a session. Windows 7 Enterprise SP1. When it locks up, the document you are working on distorts (see image). After terminating the process, I of course have to Reset Lock and Open to get the docs I was working on open again. In practice, this means that I have to remember how many times I've already right-clicked on something and viewed or edited Object Properties, and close out and go back in to avoid crashing. This really renders the Object Properties feature problematic, as it is a very common feature to edit.

I built symbol references that go into a table in my body pages, but only one of my symbols does not show up in the table:Table in the Body Pages:In addition, when I create a new row to see if it will add the symbol, it creates a new row with the content from the previous row:Any ACP out there know the issue?  I am novice to moderate-experienced user of Framemaker, so I'm learning.Thanks!

I need to insert a variable into a mailto hyperlink in a PDF doc. Static text is easy...message URL mailto:<email address>?subject=Feedback for pageClicking this in the PDF will launch the mail client with the subject of "Feedback for page" in the subject line. But I really need it to automatically populate with the current page number as well. So, I guess it's a dynamic link? Here's what I want to do but I can't get it to work....message URL mailto:<email address>?subject=Feedback for page&<$curpagenum>I've tried it witht he brackets removed and without the dollar sign. Both times the variable is just ignored. Anyone done this? Thoughts? Is this even possible?

I see that I can define an XSL processor to run my pre/post processing stylesheet in the structapps.fm.The FrameMaker 12.0 developer reference offers XALAN or SAXON as options (page 26). Meanwhile the FrameMaker (2017) developer's guide says that FrameMaker supports XSL version 1.0 (page 427).If I need XSL 2.0 functionality, and I have Saxon in my environment, will this functionality be supported?ThanksT

FM2017 does not create WebHelp and I need WebHelp files. When I tried opening the files in FM12, it wouldn't let me.What are my options?TIA

I cannot Save to PDF or print PDF when running FrameMaker 2017 in Parallels for Mac. I'm guessing I have a setup problem. I can print and save to PDF just fine with these same files and same FrameMaker 2017 installed on my PC.Whenever I try to Save to PDF or print to PDF, FrameMaker becomes unresponsive (with not responsive message) almost immediately and never recovers from that condition. I have to force quit the application. I can work in the files in Mac (Parallels), save, etc. All functions work. I just cannot print.I switched to Mac (MacBook Pro Mid-2015 running OS 10.12 Sierra) with new job/role about a year ago and I work almost exclusively on the Mac now. All output from FrameMaker is PDF/electronic. I just have to switch over to the PC to save to PDF or print to PDF. All files are sync'd by Dropbox between the machines, so I know it is not the files. They print fine from the PC. I believe the setups are identical, but I'm obviously missing something with the Parallels setup.

Folgendes Problem:Ich habe eine neue Tabulatorposition im Absatzformat definiert.Fenster blinkt kurz mit der neuen Position, Position verschwindet dann.Absatzformat kennt die neue Position nicht.Um das Vorgehen zu überprüfen habe ich die Schritte zur Erstellung einer neuen Tabulatorposition in einem anderen ganz neu erzeugtem leerem Dokument durchgeführt. Ergebnis: Es funktioniert, Absatzformat konnte geändert werden.Daher die Frage, ob eventuell in einem Dokument das Verändern von Formaten gesperrt werden kann?
