I am trying to modify the Frame dictionary, and I am wondering what are the characters that are at the ends of some of the words?For example:airlift/MDSGairliner/Mairline/SRMZairlock/MSairmail/DSGairman/Mairmassair/MDRTZGJSWhat do all of those mean? Is there some document that explains them all as there are a lot more than these.Thanks

Hi everybody,I'm struggling with the page sizes when creating a PDF file from a book. I can't manage to change the sizes of the pages to DIN A4. I copy some paragraphs from MS word to FrameMaker. I try to replace a character tag definded in the word file to another character tag defined in the FrameMaker file with the Find/change. I can fine a character tag but do not know how to change.

I have just about had it.  Somehow magically, now I can't convert my FM files into PDFs as I now get an error log.  It happened on Friday morning.  I was able to convert two files, then all of a sudden, the rest of the files I tried to convert I get this  error log file instead of my pdf.  Nothing happened to my computer or the software between the second and third file I tried to convert to PDF. I'm on FM 2017, and am running through VMWare on my MAC.  Any help would be appreciated.  I have even removed and re installed FrameMaker - no change.  No more PDF files can be run from my files.

Hello,In a Structured book, i need to get on attribute valus (on the highest element) but ...In a FM document, i can get value from an element by looping through all my document by "wraping" the element text and get the attributes (using : element.TextRange.beg/end).But in a structured book, i can't wrap the "element text" because it's not text, so how can i get the value of my highest element?

I am getting annoying behaviour with the "Replace Font" pod on my dual monitor Frame 2017 set up.Firstly, I have the Fonts pod open, with a list of all the fonts in my document.If I double-click a font in that list, it opens the "Replace Font" pod...but then, if I drag the Replace Font pod onto my 2nd monitor (out of the way of my document), it collapses, only leaving its title bar. The only way to reopen the pod is to click the button to reduce it to an icon, then click the icon to reopen the pod again.Is this a bug? I've tried half a dozen other pods and I can drag them onto my 2nd monitor fine, without them collapsing to their title bar only.

My books contain multiple documents/chapters. Each one has variables in the footer for Issue and Amend . All variables start out with the values Issue = 1, Amend = 0. If a chapter gets updated, only the variables in that document/chapter get updated to reflect the new values, i.e. Chapters 1-2 might but Issue 1, Amend 0; Chapter 3 = Issue 1 Amend 1, Chapter 4 = Issue 1 Amend 2, Chapter 5 = Issue 1 Amend 0, and so forth. It must have been changed in Framemaker 2017, but I don't see the option to delete a paragraph format where it used to be in FM 12. Where is delete paragraph format now located? Thanks.

Hello,I'm trying to create a script that go to the Right Master Page used in my document and create a round rectangle (at pos x, y and size h,w).But i can't go to the right page. (I'm already in the Master Page View, using Fcodes)I'm using :Fcodes([app.GetNamedCommand("GotoPage").Fcode]);I have the GotoPage dialog box, but how can i force it to got to the page named : RightMasterPageEnglish intead having the dialog box?I'm trying with RoundRectanble too, but how to define the x,y,h and w parameters to past with the fcodes ?

Hey gang,I have a multi-page, multiple-column table that needs to have a blank row inserted after every 10th row.  Is there a way to do this automatically? It's a real pain in the tuches to do this by hand when you have 1000+ rows in a table, not to mention the risk of error.Thoughts?-terry-FM12, Windows 7

Hi,We currently moved to FM 2015 and have our User Guide there. But we need to save the book in FM 11 version to make use of the plug-in that is compatible only with FM versions prior to FM12. Hello,Our team is having difficulty with publishing to Microsoft HTML Help.We can produce the help file, but the "Contents" tree is messed up.Here are the problems:-Everything is appearing at the same level in the tree-The very first contents topic shown is the name of the document rather than the first Chapter titleIn "Style Mapping, I selected the "Split into topics based on this style" check-box for first three Headings.This is the result I get:The first topic is the name of the file, not the section in FrameMaker (Introduction). And everything is at the same level.Can someone please walk me through the basic steps to produce an HTML help file with a proper contents tree?There is virtually no help in the FrameMaker Help Document, nor online. Hi.FM2015 occasionally crashes while I save .fm file as .rtf (About 5 or 6 time in 10).When it finishes the conversion, the rtf file size goes well over 800MB, even though the .fm size is about 1.64MB.Question 1)Is there any know bag fix about FM2015 crashing while saving as rtf?     * I found a topic with same problem with FM12 but not FM2015...Question 2)Is there any way around to make the rtf file size smaller?If it was Office word, there is a registry key to add to avoid rtf becoming massive.Thank you for your help in advance!!Message was edited by: ModeratorJC - [changed crush to crash]

Since I installed the FM 2017 upgrade, every time I open a document I get "The 'AVM Bolded' Font is not available. "AVM" will be used in this session. I experimented by deleting the objects from a document one by one, saving and reopening. Even after deleting every object, when I open the blank document I still get the error 24 times in the Console.(related question: in 2017, the console disappears once I click "OK". What happened to "Clear"?)Thanks in advance for your help.Jack

I am able to add strings as part of paragraph texts at the moment.I was looking up extend scripts to do this, however I am quite not sure how to add a variable. I recently updated my Adobe products and now I am receiving an error in FrameMaker 2015 that states "To execute "Save as PDF" command you must have Acrobat Distiller version 5.05 or higher installed." and it will not produce a PDF file for my Book.  In looking in the Adobe site, I see no way of getting the Acrobat Distiller 5.05 version.  Any thoughts on how I should proceed, before I remove and reinstall the software?Thanks!

I'm currently working for a client in developing and improving their documentation. The project requires an authoring tool that allows you to format documents, organize graphics, and generate HTML5 output. The client wants the final draft as a responsive HTML5 page.I started working on that project using Adobe FrameMaker 2017 a few days ago. I formatted some of the documents and inserted lots of diagrams.As part of the project, I need to link all the diagram parts to external documents (Word, Excel, etc.). The client wants the external documents to open in a new window after clicking the link instead of just downloading them. In my experience, if you click the link to a PPT, Word, etc. it will automatically be downloaded.  I tried using Hotspot to add multiple links to the diagram, but it didn't give me an option to link to external documents. I may be wrong, but I think hotspot only worked for links within the source document or within a page of a website. To test the other links

Hi everyone,I have master pages for my table of contents, and there is a right master page and a left master page. In the master page (aside from fancy headers/footers) there is just a text frame located on the page where the table of contents should be located.Now - when I generate the table of contents, I get the TOC information, but it looks like it is creating a text frame lying on top of the text frame from the master page?? (There are definitely two text frames on top of each other.) This appears to be why my TOC master page mapping is not working.Doesn't the TOC master page need the text frame to know where the text should go?? I am clearly doing something wrong here. Any advice is greatly appreciated.FrameMaker 2015

Hi All,I am facing a peculiar issue when I import Corel X8 version files into FM12.All the open 'curves' are getting closed with unwanted lines.The process I follow is File > Import > Object > Create from file...Please let me know if any of you have faced a similar issue and if is there a solution to this issue.Thanks,JayaprakashPS: I was using Corel V12 till recently and never faced such an issue.
