FrameMaker

Dear TeamI'd like to reinstall FrameMaker8 on my computer (Windows 7 system). However, after I uninstalled the software and installed it on the same computer, I can no longer open FrameMaker8 and got this error.Internal Error 8004, 6965356, 4565475, 5303539. FrameMaker has detected a serious problem and must quit.After consulting the support team, I used the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove installation records and reinstalled FrameMaker8, following the instructions here at Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems . Unfortunately, this didn't work. I still cannot open FrameMaker8.Would you please help me with this issue? Thank you very much.Best regardsSue

I need assistance. We have a writer with FM 2015 who is unable to generate pdfs. The options are not available in her File Menu.  She does not have Acrobat Professional DC. We have tried repair, uninstall, reinstall. Unsuccssful. Troubleshooting tips greatly appreciated.

I want to use HTML files that are generated by my application in framemaker.We can't import HTML files directly in framemaker.So is there any way we can convert HTML file into MIF file.

Hello all - newbie FM user here - training on the job!I've been given the task to update an existing user document.  This document is a .pdf file and was created by saving from Framemaker (not sure what version of FM- perhaps 10).  I have FM 12.0.0.329.  Anyway, I open the FM book and one of the contained .fm files.  I create a frame just at the end of a section in the .fm and it creates the frame on a new page.  I then drag the .gif into the frame and adjust the size.Then, I perform Update to the book and save as .pdf.  When viewing the .pdf, all I see is a blue square where the .gif should be.  I can save the image to Word and it looks fine.Next, I drag the same .gif into another frame (another page), perform Update and save as .pdf.  I can see the image this time.I've also performed the opposite.  Taken a .gif that displays correctly and moving to the frame/page I created and it will not show in the .pdf.Did I do something wrong when crea

I'm stumped on this one, but as a newbie to FM, I'm easily stumped.I have a full page graphic that may be in an anchored frame. Right above it is a caption.It's a screenshot, and I need to replace that screengrab with an updated one.If I delete the original graphic, the frame collapses and I don't seem to be able to select within that frame any more. If I just import the new graphic, it goes into a separate area and when I try to move it to anywhere near the original frame, I get an error message, something to the effect that with an anchored frame, I have to use some sort of special procedure.I'm used to programs (such as Word), where a graphic can be selected, right-clicked, and a new graphic placed, same size, same parameters.Is there any way to swap in Framemaker?

Here's the thing... I downloaded Framemaker 2015 XML Author version, and I can't locate certain things like font size changes and bullet point creation to construct the type of document I want to make.  I think I should have downloaded Framemaker (the unstructured version). I went so far as to uninstall and reinstall it, but that didn't work.  I was surprised.  How do I switch to Framemaker--unstructured version, please?  Thanks

Hi all,on the Computer of a colleague we can open DITA files directly from a map by simply double-clicking them (or right-click -> open). On my Computer this does not work. It is really painful to open the files individually from the file System, does anybody know a fix?Robert

I'm using FM 11. When I draw shapes inside a graphic frame, I need to apply a black border to each and fill them with different colors. I used to do this all the time using the fill and border icons on the graphics toolbar. Now, if I fill the shape with color A and apply black to the border, the fill changes to black. If I choose a border color first and then click the fill, the border changes to the fill color.I have tried setting the border or fill to NONE before I apply the other one, but the result is the same.Can someone help me with this? If I've botched a setting, I'd love to know so I can fix it.Thanks!Amy

I've posted about this before, and from all the tests I've managed to make it's related to the undeletable FM8 conditions – at least, if I save the guilty file as .mif and delete the conditions then it distills OK … once. Save as .mif after distill has failed reveals that FM has put back the conditions unasked. Why it's then interfering with a file where no conditions are applied is beyond me.I think I got as far as adding this to the bug-log for FM12 – can someone remind me how to go back to the bug-log and check?Thanks in advance.

In FrameMaker 15, I am publishing a Responsive HTML5 output. When the output generates, it adds an extra book level. So, if I want to view my topic called introduction, I have to select the Introduction folder, then the topic for Introduction. Is there a way to remove having to select the unnecessary folder? Each framemaker file should display as its own topic in the html5 file.

Here is a screenshot to illustrate my question:I have an ElementRange as illustrated by the selection in the screenshot. I need to add the two follow li elements to the ElementRange because they have the same status attribute value ("new"). Give an ElementRange, how do I add the next sibling element to the ElementRange? I am content with adding them one at a time, if necessary. I have some ideas and will post some code, but I am trying to get a head-start by asking here. Thank you very much.

Working on a document yesterday, saved it without error. Went to open it today and FM crashes with the following error: Internal Error 12044, 5309203, 5319262, 5320132. FrameMaker has detected a serious problem and must quit.  Even the .backup.fm file is crashing FM.The document is only 3 pages, about the only thing that is different from similar documents is that I had imported a SVG instead of our normal PNG.Any ideas?  Can I edit the file in another program to remove the SVG reference?

I am currently trying to import a Word file of 235 pages, but there have been a few issues. The most pressing problem is that when I import the word file all the body paragraphs are split into many different paragraphs. I cannot discern whether FrameMaker2015 is creating empty paragraphs automatically within the new document or if it is an issue with the Word source file. Has anyone else run into a problem like this? I also cannot import and select the "remove empty paragraphs" button without the import crashing. I am unsure if this is related to my problem.Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

I have an older Framemaker 7 book that I imported into Framemaker 2015. When I go to publish the HTML help each chapter gets generated as a book but there is only one level below each (no nested topics).  I want to have sub-levels within each chapter.  This is what I want the contents to look like:This what I get when I publish in 2015:How can I make this work?

I have made sure that all OverviewHeadings used have the same fonts and sizes but when I convert to HTML some of the pages display a different font and size.  Not sure what is causing this.  Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Muscle-memory tells me I can hold down Shift to draw straight lines with the graphics tools, but whenever I tried this yesterday it simply cancelled the line-drawing operation. FM 2012 – have I so far failed to notice/stumble upon an "improvement" over earlier versions?It was worth persisting, though, for the awe and amazement on the developer's face: "you mean those are three separate, editable graphics in that diagram? and the connectors are separate too?"

Been getting an error when trying to load an MIF file in FrameMaker.The log shows this error ->Internal Error: 10014, 9331838, 9337973, 8023382it is not easy for someone to understand what is the issue.

I just installed Framemaker 2015 Trial, after a bios upgrade that rendered Framemaker 2012 unusable (it won't start and wouldn't after I tried several times to reinstall it) on my new Dell laptop. After failing several times, I uninstalled every Adobe product on the computer except Flash and Air and rebooted (also several times), and tried again - still won't start, for both fm 12 and 2015. Is there an installation procedure beyond just running Setup that I need to know about? If so, where can I get it? I'm a 15+ year user of Framemaker (7 or 8 versions, bought and paid for) and do nearly all my work on it, but this is getting very frustrating.David Stevens

I'm a long time Framemaker user (v 12). As of 3 pm Friday 8/5, FM won't start under windows 10. It shows up in the task manager but not on screen and it can't be used. This came after a simple reboot of the computer, that I do every day. I used it all day up until 3 pm with no problems. What could be wrong?

Hello,I am trying to setup a template where the first page is in a 2 column format but the columns are a different width (Left -> 18 pica / Right -> 16 Pica). When I try to do this in Format -> Page Layout -> Column Layout it moves the left margin in instead of changing the left columns width. Does anyone know how I can achieve the layout I need?Thank you for your help!Framemaker 13.0.1

The search didn't return anything, but I feel I'm repeating a question I've seen before … I can tweak the predefined system variable Modification Date Long to end up with a variable that shows {monthname year} in body text, but I can hardly approve of myself for doing so! is there no way to create a user variable that can use the date and time building blocks? I'm still on FM2012, and not likely to be upgrading for a while.

I just installed FM 2015 which says it has a 30 day trial for MathFlow, but clicking Special > MathML Equation... does nothing.  Do I need to get a trial license from Design Science?

Using FM2015 Publish to HTML5 Responsive. I'm writing documentation for programmers, which includes sections of source code. What is the best way to format in my FM doc so that it is published to HTML using the PRE tag (i.e. use the original textual indentation and formatting). Can I map a paragraph format in FM to output (publish) using the PRE tag in HTML?Thanks,-Ray
