FrameMaker

Hello, we already had this Problem with the Framemaker 12 and we upgrade to 2015 because we thought, the problem is fixed. If we create new conditions as a conditional text and then formats and assigns, FrameMaker crashes. The problem occurs in existing documents where already conditions assigned.I already create a Bugbase and sent this Problem to fmerror@adobe.com but I did not get a response. Can somebody help me?Thank youZsanett

I created a template with Heading3 instead of Head3 - same properties just different name. I deleted all of the paragraph formats, imported the new template, updated the headers. Head3 remains persistent in the document. I cannot clear the check box for NextParagraph so that there is no required next paragraph. It just will not remove itself from the document period. I have tried removing it from the catalog and it does delete the format. But there it is still in the document. Any thoughts?

hii'm relativliy new to Framemaker 11. but i need to change the layout and add more titles.I allready added the new title to the edd. but some how the elements are not updated atomataclly.so i startet to open each element and adding the new format manualy to its variable, but that will take me probably a other week of work, because there are so many ;-(.it would be awsome if it would be possible to update all variables with the same name in each element at once.im looking forward to your answers.best regardsbeat

When I print a book from FM 13 (File > Print Book > Printer: Adobe PDF), the resulting PDF always defaults to opening at page 5. I can adjust the PDF File Properties to correct this after it prints, but I suspect there is a default setting I am missing. When I use Adobe PDF as the "printer" from programs other than FM, the resulting PDFs correctly open at page 1.I have already set the following from inside FM: File > Print Book > Printer: Adobe PDF > Generate Acrobat Data > PDF Setup > Open PDF Document on Page 1

Hello All,          I am having some issue while creating PDF from FrameMaker book. It is creating only a TPS file, but not PDF. I tried the trouble shooting options from adobe site. But nothing worked.I opened all the documents in the book before trying to create the pdf.This issue started after I tried updating TOC. That time I got the error "Show/Hide setting for is inconsistent in <filename>:.To solve that issue I followed the below steps for each of the documents in the book:On the 'Special' menu, clicked 'Conditional Text'.In the 'Conditional Text' dialog box, clicked 'Show/Hide'.In the 'Show/Hide Conditional Text' dialog box, made the condition tag same for all the filesThe errors disappeared but after that I am not able to generate PDF file.Please help me on this issue. FM15 started messing up for me. It wants to refresh slowly line by line and before it is refreshed, it starts over & over & over. It can take up to 30 minutes to refresh a page. If I save, copy, cut, page up/dn, etc. it starts all over. I rebooted my computer once but nothing changed.

Hi,I've been using Frame forever, and I've had version 12 (12.0.4.445) for a long while.  When I first enter "\x15" in a variable, everything works correctly.  When I click Update in the variable dialog box, "\x15" is replaced by "\+" in the variable definition and, in the body text, the hyphen is there and it is non-breaking.  Everything looks good.But, if I click Update a second time, the hyphen is replace by "+" in the body text.  No hyphen.  The variable definition still appears as "\+".  Why is it suddenly treating "\+" as a literal plus symbol in text and how do I make it stop?Thanks,--Jeff Gansberg

I cannot figure out why FM is omitting a specific file from the HTML5 output... I just got a new work computer, and this wasn't happening on the old one (using the same .sts file). Any idea how to ensure all files are being added to the output?

What does Internal Error: 11024, 21101821, 21093447, 19354980 mean and how do I fix it? Frame has crashed 7 times so far today - makes it difficult to get work done.

All of a sudden, some people on our team cannot generate TOCs in FrameMaker 2015, while others still can. We could all generate TOCs without a problem until this week (at least, this week is when we noticed the issue). Are there any known issues with the 3.1 update that was released in April (I believe)?When we select Add >> Create Standalone TOC, FrameMaker creates a TOC file and adds it to the book, but the file is completely blank. When we try updating the TOC file, nothing happens. When we try to create/update TOCs with other books and templates, same thing.Other folks are able to create/update TOCs with these same files. We haven't been able to determine what the difference is that's causing the issue.Those of us with the problem all seem to have FrameMaker 2015 version 13.0.3.495 installed. But at least one person who has that same version installed can create/update TOCs. (We're all on Windows 7, 64-bit.)Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,jason nich

I am the IT responsible at our company and we have 2 Framemaker subscriptions that 2 of our users have and use. I have asked the support a couple of times if we can either pay per year or even better have the invoices emailed directly to our erp system.The support could not help me with this and i cant describe the irritation of the users who have to be alert and forward the email every month so it gets paid and now during vacation time.........How hard can it be to send an invoice for a year or change the invoice email address?Very frustrated admin.

I was using the publish to APS feature in FM 2015 and it seems to be fine with small books (<10 files) or a small chapter file<10 pages. I have set the paragraph format Heading2 to break up the chapter into smaller chunks, but now FM just crashes continually. I tried other output options and all of them now crash FM. I liked publishing to APS because it generated a nice individual HTML file. FM is getting too frustrating to use as an authoring tool. Nothing seems to work as advertised except basic functionality.

I made updates to my manual, saved the book and now my TOC displays as red text with lines through the text (like marked changes).  The TOC has duplicated with this red text/lines 8 times (its now 34 pages) and the bottom of the page shows the normal TOC. I can't figure out how to fix this. Can anyone assist?

Hi all,the cross references in a set of FM documents were lost in the translation process so the sources and the published PDFs contain plain text parts such as "see chapter 4.6.2.1". I imagine that theoretically a script could search for such text snippets and the automatically link them to the corresponding headings - does anybody know a solution for this? Robert

Dear Experts,How can I extract the string "=?utf-8?B?LDvGhsLCBGcmybYk?=" between the coding markers?Currently, I am able with the help of code likestartText = activeDoc.Find(startText.beg, findParams);to find the exact start and exact end of the string and I have created the TextRange Base64Text.With the instruction activeDoc.TextSelection = Base64Text; I can highlight the text in my document.I have tried further with Base64Item = activeDoc.GetTextForRange(Base64Text,Constants.FTI_String);Base64String = Base64Item.toString();But still I am not able to see the string in the object browser of the Toolkit.Note that I don't use the method GetText because the string is only a part of the paragraph.Thank you for advices.

It has happened three times on my computer, and twice on my co-workers since we've upgraded from FM9 two months ago.  We are not experiencing any crashing or freezing at all.  Sometimes we are not even actively working in Frame.  It's just open, and when we return, the pods will all just be completely gone, causing us to have to reset all of them from scratch.

FM2015 / SGMLIn my EDDs, I have been setting up the Graphic element as seen below:Element (Graphic): Graphic   Initial graphic element format      If context is: Figure [Imported = “Yes”]         Insert imported graphic file.      Else         Insert anchored frame.Now I have a customer DTD which defines the Graphic element as a Container and uses the Boardno attribute to identify the graphic to be displayed. This is probably something people do all the time but I haven't run into it. Can anyone point me to information that would help me educate myself. I assume it involves some kind of reference but I've looked around and I'm not finding the information I need for some reason.

I have tried multiple things to get the file name to appear as the topic name in the TOC. My single file (in a book) is generated as a book file with an href that uses the correct URL but the topic lists the title of something in the doc. I thought at first that the conversion was picking up Title from the File Info, so I deleted that from each file and tried again. Still getting the title as the href - not the file name. Using <$filename_no_ext> as the Topic Pattern Name has no effect. Changing the HTML Mapping Macros to use <$filename_no_ext> instead of <$defaulttitle> has no effect either. Any suggestions? If I can get this to work then I can convert all of my docs to HTML.Thanks

I just converted my 7.2 files to FM 2015 and got some 'At least one original filter ... graphics imported by reference ... not available ..' messages.When I looked at these files, I found that many anchored frames had heavy black borders that I could not change and some tables had strange thick cross-hatch borders that I similarly could not find information about.  I'm guessing this is some kind of error condition report but have not been able to find any information about fixing it.The affected files tend to be older ones originating before FM 7.2Any ideas about how to approach this?  See pictures.

I have a Book containing 23 document files. The document files contain page numbers in the footers.One of the document files is a generated table of contents (TOC). Unfortunately, the generated pagenumbers in the TOC do not match the page numbers in the files. Here are the particulars:The title page, in a file by itself, is unnumberedThe frontmatter, spread across five files uses lower-case roman (i-xvi)The body text in the remaining 17 files is numeric (1-243)The generated Table of Contents uses cardinal numbers from the book as a whole. For example,Chapter I is numbered correctly in the footer starting with page 1. However, in the TOC it is listedas starting on page 19 because it is the 19th actual file in the book. I have set the document numberingproperties for this file to start at 1, and the Page Numbering properties for the book as a whole tobe "Continue"The style of the TOC entries is correct. I downloaded a trial version of the technical suite once on my work PC and again on my personal laptop. For both versions the File\Publish drop-down list does not exist.The help screen identifies this as the method for creating HTML5 files. The result is I can create a document but can't publish it into any usable format. Your help is appreciated.

Le Noir est défini en "surimpression".  Je souhaite réalisé un PDF pour l'imprimeur avec le Noir en surimpression.Malgré toutes mes tentatives, je n'obtiens pas le résultat escompté.Voici la définition des couleurs dans FrameMaker.J'utilise les paramètres "Qualité supérieure" car les paramètres de surimpression sont théoriquement conservés lors de la génération du PDF.Mais, dans l'Aperçu de sortie d'Acrobat Pro DC, le texte Noir apparaît toujours en réserve sur la couche Cyan. Ce qui n'est pas correct.Le texte Noir est pourtant bien détecté "en surimpression" dans l'Aperçu de sortie.Quelqu'un connaît-il une procédure fiable pour obtenir le Noir en surimpression (donc sans réserve dans les autres couches) dans un PDF généré à partir de FrameMaker 11 ?Merci pour votre aide.
