I recently had to restore my computer from a backup and now it thinks that my TCS4 is a Trial version. I attempted to put the serial # for my license using the "License this Product" option, but it says it was invalid. My IT Support team decided to uninstall 4, reinstall 3 and try to add 4 back, but when I get to the Serial Number fields, it says my serial number is INVALID. Anyone know what to do here?

I have a file open in Structured FrameMaker 13 and the cursor in position to insert a Trademark symbol. Selecting the menu options (none of which are "grey'd out") File > Utilities > Character Palette... , no subsequent window or palette seems to open or become available in the menu bar. Does anyone know what I am apparently missing?

I'm using my HP ZBook running FrameMaker 12. I've set my monitor to default. FrameMaker does not display all dialog boxes completely. Most of the pods are complete, but some are missing buttons completely or only showing partial buttons. When the buttons are missing, sometimes you can use the Enter key for OK, sometimes not. Attached is an examples of what I see.

Help!!!I'm trying to automate finding text in a FM11 file and tagging it with a specific para tag. Once it's tagged, I want to be able to search for the same string again and delete it. The search will include wildcards. I'm moving Word files over and bringing them in with manual numbering of paragraphs. So, when they come in, they have "2.3.4.5" in front of the paragraphs for instance. I want to search for all numbers at beginning of paragraphs, tag all those with the appropriate para format (from a catalog) and then delete the manual numbering.Right now we do this manually, by using Find/Replace and using wildcard search strings to find (such as "\P[1-9]*.*.*.*[0-9]", which will find all para numbering with 4 digits at the beginning of a para), and then using the Change By Pasting option to paste in a para tag from the catalog. Our team just upgraded to FrameMaker 2015 (from FrameMaker 12). We're running into some issues where we lose italic formatting in existing files and templates, and/or the "Emphasis" character tag that we use to apply italic formatting does not work correctly.For example, when I open our existing template in FrameMaker 2015, the "Emphasis" character tag is still defined correctly – it shows the "Italic" property in the "Angle" field. But, when I select a word or phrase and apply the "Emphasis" style, the text does not get italicized. Frame shows that the "Emphasis" tag has been applied, but the text is still roman (i.e., not italicized).When I change the "Angle" property from "Italic" to "Kursiv" that seems to resolve the issue, but I'm not sure why.We are also seeing inconsistent issues of italic formatting getting dropped altogether in existing files, or getting dropped just from cross-references, etc.Are there any known issues with italic formatting in FrameMaker 2015? Greetings!I have users that run FrameMaker 12 and periodically the application crashes and produces an error log and associated internal error codes. Can we get a translation of the error codes so we can diagnose the issues? And if not the entire list can we get the most common ones? After reviewing the error logs of multiple computers I have noticed patterns in the error codes. Two of the most common codes are 12024 and 12004. I did some digging and it appears that 12004 is related to network connectivity internal error 12004, 4454010, 7384245. Hi everybody,I wrote an application using the FDK that simply opens a book, saves it as pdf (using API call F_ApiSave and FS_FileType=FV_SaveFmtPdf). Everything works like a charme but the page size. The book contains several A4 documents but the final PDF is created using the US Letter format resulting in a too short page.If I export manually the book (using Framemaker interactively) the resulting PDF contains A4 sized pages.I already tried to set the Adobe PDF printer default settings via the Control Panel (I set A4 as default page size).Hopefully someone can point me out to a solution.Thanks

FrameMaker 2015 trial installation: Installer stops, saying it cannot initialize and pointing me to the Adobe Support Advisor, a tool which discontinued apparently. I get the error message in my language (German) irrespective of which language trial version I downloaded. My Win7Pro computer already had FM8 installed, but this one now requires me to register again, which fails.

I received the email and clicked Download and Install, but it is not clear what I should click on to get install TCS 2015?

To insert a graphic, Alt F I F no longer seems to work, nor does Esc F I F.What is the keyboard shortcut to insert a graphic into a FrameMaker 2015 frame? Thanks!

I have two of these separated by paragraph symbols - they are messing up my book - how can I get rid of one of them - help !

For a reason I'll explain below, each graphic frame in our thousands of pages of FrameMaker documents has within it a text frame containing only a marker. We no longer need the markers. I can quickly search for and delete the markers, but this leaves empty text frames. Is there an easy way to get rid of these empty frames? If not, is there a not-easy way, like creating a script?I don't think that the frames, or the markers, for that matter, will cause any problems in the documents, but they will be mysterious artifacts for writers who join our organization going forward, and it can complicate working with callouts to have empty text boxes in the same graphic frame.The reason we have the markers and frames was that Webworks ePublisher didn't recognize borders on graphics without them. I have a book consisting of a list of documents with one main frame. I would love to know how many books my book contains. I do know FrameMaker 12 has in File -> Tools -> Document Report a facility to count the number of words in that document. My book has 50 documents and it's tedious to do this by hand.Is there a script out there that would do that? Baring that, any starting script that I could actually take and use? I already know how to iterate on each document in a book, what I would need to know is the function I could call to count the number of words in that document and I think I could do the rest.Thanks for any suggestion or help in this matter,Egan.

When I or one of my colleagues attempted to run the updater for FrameMaker 2015 Update 2, the installer stopped and displayed the following message: "There was an error installing this update. Please quit and try again later. Error Code: U44M1I210"The problem seems to be related to permissions. An Adobe support record (Error U44M1I210 when installing Adobe Creative Cloud or Creative Suite 6 updates) suggests creating a new user with administrator permissions. Although I and the colleague who experienced this problem were already logged in as administrators, in my colleague's case, someone from IT created a new user with (the same) administrator permissions, which solved the problem.Another record (Error U44M1I216 when updating applications) suggested deleting the following folder:[DriveLetter]:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0I did this and was then able to successfully run the updater. Hi,I was glad about the possibility to generate a miniTOC in an easy way but ...it is a nice feature to use mini TOC instead of single cross references or table of content as text insert. But the mini TOC in FM 2015 only is a compact blog of all references I determined where I'm not able to say i.e. that I want to show only the first ten paragraphs as mini TOC for the current section of my document and after this I want to insert a new mini TOC for the next section with the rest of the references for the next pages. Means, I cannot split my mini TOC for different parts of the document. With a table of content I can do so..So I have to do the same I did before I was delighted about a mini TOC.Or did I misunderstand the feature?Thx

Is it possible to automate Framemaker 2015 File > Publish, ie to call this function from the commandline? Typical usage would be to automate building html/pdf/etc output from a Jenkins buildbot.Somewhat related question: why is not pdf an option in the File > Publish dialog? In some table cells in a document I am working on, the text is being outlined in dashed line (seen below). I have been unsuccessful and determining what is causing this or how to fix it. Has anyone else encountered this issue and know of any possible solutions? Thank you for your help with this

Hello All,I hope someone can help me. We have changed our Product Manual Templates to having a TOC in each section. The problem is that I haven't been able to get the TOC to have links when making a PDF. Also, the only way I have found to make a TOC for each section is using the Special TOC while the Body section is open (which I can't update, and isn't working). When I try to add a TOC to a folder within the book, it looks at the whole book. Is there a way to do this?Thanks!!I am using FM12....

Finished a project using the owners Framemaker 11. Attempt to reinstall my version of Frame 7 fails. Stalls on first page.

The Responsive HTML5 manual generated by FrameMaker 2015's "publish" tool has a browse sequence, but this seems to skip from chapter to chapter and does not have a very natural flow (skipping all sub-sections.) Is there any way we can change the browse sequence within FrameMaker? Or make edit a file to get the right browse sequence in the output?
