FrameMaker

Tassos Anastasiou and I have worked on a structured FM project that is now in its 5th release to its users. It involves deeply nested, progressively indented sections with a numbering scheme that involves multi-part numbers at the higher levels (e.g., 14.25.101) and letters or single integers with varying punctuation (usually periods or parentheses) at lower levels. The number of supported levels, the numbering styles, and the space allotted for numbers has changed over the years. Because of the way the FM files are used, it is a requirement that the EDD applies formats from the paragraph catalog rather than setting individual properties. I use FM10 and FM12. Both have this problem.I know it is normal for a table having a left indent equal to the tab stop of the list if the table is within a list.But could anyone explain why a table after a list (even there are other contents between the table and the list) is still given an indent?

  When converting my FrameMaker 11 book into a PDF, the page numbers in certain chapters will not print on the  PDF. The page numbers are visible in the all of the chapters of Framemaker files/book.  Does anyone know why this is occurring? How do we fix this?

I'm testing XML/XHTML import in FrameMaker 2015.If I use xml:space in my document, then FM2015 recognizes this and uses the correct spacing (a big improvement over the old version I've been using!).But if I set my element definitions to automatically add an xml:space attribute, the white space is not preserved. I can tell that my definitions are getting applied because it applies the correct styles, and when I look in Structure View, I can see that xml:space is indeed set to preserve... but the spaces aren't correct.Is there any way I can get FrameMaker to automatically recognize certain types of elements and preserve the whitespace, or do I need to explicitly set xml:preserve every single time I want to preserve spacing?

I watched the Framemaker tutorial "Inserting Special Characters" but, when I clicked on the symbol I wanted to insert, it inserted a Latin symbol instead.  Help!

The content is somehow now on a different layer that I can't get to.Any ideas about how to get my content back?

When closing my FrameMaker files individually from the book file, I got messages saying that certain fonts were not in a file and asking if I wanted to add them. This seemed unusual, so I clicked "No." After clicking several of these, I had a crash. When I reopened the book file, I discovered that one of the chapters (c09.fm) was represented by a question mark (?) in the file icon in the book file. When I tried to open  the file from the book, I got an error message saying that the file does not exist. When I checked the file in my Explorer directory, it had been renamed to "c09.fm.4EB." What happened, and what should I do about it? I would like to keep and continue using the renamed file because it contains changes that I don't want to hunt down and do again.

I have created a FM-book (V12) consisting of a number of files. One of these is a Tab directory for the binder the documents shall be placed in. The tabs are created in a table in the tab directory file. I also want a PDF-solution for the documents and in this I wish the tabs i the tab-directory to be active links to the differnet documents. So I created hypertext links between the Tab-directory and the first page of each document in FrameMaker. Works beatiful.However, when I create a PDF of the book the tabdirectory table is whitened out. The links are there and works but the tab-texts are hidden. Note that there is other text in the tab directory document that is not blanked.Any ideas why?I even removed the links and regernerated the PDF but the tabs remain hidden.

I'm trying to use FrameMaker to Save as PDF. I receive the error:  Offending Command: ct_T3HdrDict.  Any ideas on what this means? Do I have a control character somewhere that I cannot see? If so, how can I locate it?

Hello,I have Windows 7 Ultimate.The other day I tried to download a trial version of FM, but noticed it wasn't succeeding. Later, I received an email from Adobe telling me my trial had started, yet the trial is nowhere to be found on my computer! I did have FM 11, so when I try to put it up I get a message that my serial number is no longer valid and I need to enter a valid number. This must be because years ago, I did have FM...is there any way I can still download a trial version? And, why did I get that email...I feel like time is running on something I can't see.Thank you,Susan

I created a Creative Cloud install package for FrameMaker 2015 v13 and Adobe Distiller wasn't an option to include in the package creation and doesn't show after install.Any insight would be helpful.

Hi,I'm building a document and I am finding it increasingly difficult and frustrating to "remember" all the links and named destinations I created on a page, section, document, etc.My customers seem to want all the bells and whistles of html but not in html.  I offered to use RoboHelp so that then I can author in html, but I can publish it into whatever format they wanted, but they declined.  Why, I have no idea.So now, I'm building a book in Framemaker.  Is there an easy way to display all the links and named destinations in a file so I can easily click on them and link them together?  Currently, I have to:1. Remember where the information is because there's no "at a glance" feature I can find so click on a file in the book and see the links and named destinations.2. Open the file.3. I need to produce SGML out of FM2015 and the customer wants paragraphs beyond a certain level of nesting (1.1.1.1) to have the text start on the same line as the Title. This is per a military spec (MIL-STD-38784), so I am hoping someone might have had to deal with it in the past. Any ideas?

I have a clean windows 10 x64 (Chinese edition) installed, and i downloaded Framemaker 2015 trial version from the Adobe website.When I start the application, a window pops up, asking me to select Framemaker, Structured Framemaker or Framemaker XML Author.If i choose Framemaker, everything seems ok except that i cannot import graphics. It says that the filter goes wrong and the translation cannot be completed.If I choose the other two, the main window will show, but before the start page (I mean the page where you can see "Recent Items", "Restore Sessions", etc.) shows, an internal error window pops up with the code 13014, 15811732, 15812026, 18936253, saying that Framemaker must quit.I have tried to run it in compatible mode with Administrator previledge, but have no luck.
