Kindly help me install Frame Maker trial 13 it show error DW 021.
Since FM-12 Equation strings can not get special spaces (e.g. Thin Space by ESC, blank, t).I ahve reported this in the bug base (4066585).In FM-11 things are still OK, but FM-12 and FM-13 do not accept these short cuts although the definitions in cmds.cfg are still there.See my MIF-12 file at https://www.dropbox.com/s/z1o9wb5l9pj7p8q/Equation-special-spaces-12.mif?dl=0I hope this will be fixed!Klaus Daube
FrameMaker 2015 Trail crashes when I´m scrolling in my Laptop with Windows 7 and all updates. It shows messages below "Crash in VScrollTrack: 10" - and below that another message: "internal error ...".Edit: Now I discover that FM only crashes when I use the touchpad, not if I use FM´s scroll bar.My touchpad never cause that crash problem in other software. What´s wrong ?
Can't upgrade from Framemaker version 12.0.3 to 12.0.4. Error message requests I download Application Manager but this has not helped.
I have been successful in using a white rectangle to cover up the unwanted bold line above table titles except when the table continuation variable is used for tables continued on a second page. Has anyone discovered a work-around?
I have a unstructured FM document that is mostly text, with a couple of images. Most of the text is normal body text with some words highlighted in bold. However, when I use the Save as PDF option to create a PDF from this document, all my text is rendered in bold in the PDF. How can I stop that from happening. I have other documents that render fine. It's just this one that won't.Many thanks in advance for any suggestions on how to fix this.
Hi, FM2015, Win7. I have structured FM files with a root element of <topic>, but are not DITA. While authoring, the DITA feature set is automatically adding IDs to all elements that have an ID attribute. I know it is DITA doing this because when I change the ID prefix in the DITA options, the IDs change. I unchecked the "Auto-Add IDs..." option, no change (the IDs aren't mandatory anyway). Can I make this stop without turning off the DITA clients entirely?Russ
I have 3 books, each with several chapters and their own TOC covering their own topics.I place all 3 books into a parent book, also with its own TOC that covers all of the kids. When I publish, the only TOC that is included is the one for the parent. All of the child content is present, except for the TOCs.Is this an undocumented feature of Framemaker? Is there a switch or process I can use to make sure that the TOCs, from the parent and the kids, all show up?(I tried a mini-TOC, but that has to be added to each chapter rather than the whole book.)Thanks.
Hello Community,I've installed a Framemaker 2015.I got a document made by FM12.If I start a pdf production for a single fm file - it works, but the same for the book, what I actually want, - it fails with a message "can't open first_file.fm ".In the document some fonts are missing and replaced by default. What is a Problem? Thanks for any help. With best regards,S
FM12 at last, and object styles already coming in very handy … even though their behaviour seems a little quirky:File > Import File > Use object style kld – offset from left 0.972"Object catalog > kld > apply – offset from left 1.944", as defined in object styleHow come selecting an object style at import is not giving the same result as applying an object style afterwards?
I'm used to esc, c, c and esc, j, j for swiftly reapplying character and paragraph styles … dare I hope that there is a similar shortcut for reapplying the last object style? or, indeed, some new way of achieving the same result :-}Mind you, I'm not immediately sanguine about the chances of a simple keyboard shortcut when I see that Alt+G, o is now assigned to three commands in the Graphics menu.
First round of updates since (finally) installing FM12, so I start by opening the .book and saving it as FM12. Then I open all the files in the book and save them as FM12, before updating ToC and LoF – no book error log.File > Save as .pdf fails with Error: undefined: Offending command 009999ffffffMindful of the potential for problems with just one file in the book, I try again with the "one .pdf per chapter" option, and this time each chapter-.pdf fails with the same message. So I try again with a single file, which I had already updated to FM12 last week and successfully saved as .pdf … same message.Hints, tips, and (preferably) solutions very welcome!postscriptNot pre-empting the wisdom of the forum, but trying to apply it, I experimentally applied the .mif-washing technique to the .book file. FM wasn't happy with the result, complaining about Separations out of range. I edited the .mif file (outside FM) to remove all the offending Separation references, opened the updated .mif wi
It is very painful to always have to change the font of times new roman to arial every time I try to work with a new document.the default template is defined with Times New Roman. Is there a way to globally set the default font to Arial? Every new document is set to Times New Roman.
I need to publish a book about to be finished, with FM 10 as a PDF file. But something has happened to the software. In the Book file, there is no option to print the book in any format at all. There had been a few weeks ago, but it has disappeared. If I go to a single chapter file, that can be printed, but not the book along with index, etc.Earle Fox
I am using FM 10, creating an index for a book. I can adjust the font size for the text down to 9 points, but page numbers are stuck at 12 point. I can make them 9 point individually, but they revert to 12 point when I save the book. What do I need to do to get the page numbers to stay at 9 point? The same thing happens whether I use the character or the paragraph designer. Earle Fox

Since FM 5.2, long file names and paths have been abbreviated in the middle making it impossible to locate them easily. Has anyone heard if Adobe plans to fix this?
If a graphic is imported by reference, is there a way to change the graphic to an embedded graphic without having to delete and re-import it?
Hi-I am building a structured application in FrameMaker 12 for DITA 1.2 xml. When I insert Dynamic HTML Effects > Drop Down Caption and Drop Down Body on elements in the xml, the dropdowns appear correctly in the help output. But after I close the xml file, reopen it, and create output, the dropdowns do not work. The code does not retain. Is there a read/write rule I can add to the rules file to retain the dropdowncaption and body?Because I couldn't find a rule on my own, I attempted the following workaround:In the template file, I added the DropDownCaption and DropDownBody paragraph tags as they are added to the document when you create the dropdowns. In the EDD/DTD, I added code on elements (such as p and note) to use platform attribute for the dropdown tags.If context is: [platform = "dropdowncaption"] Use paragraph format: DropDownCaptionElse, if context is: [platform = "dropdownbody"] Use paragraph format: DropDownBodyUsing this workaround on th
Where can I find my s/n for FrameMaker 12 as I need to reinstall FrameMaker 12 into my new hard drive
Hi,I need to create an index marker using H2O2, but the 2s need to be in subscript (H2O2 is hydrogen peroxide).I wonder how to preserve the subscript attribute in the index (I did it here using the HTML editor of this forum).I tried to put this in my index marker text to refer users to "hydrogen peroxide":"H2O2, <Emphasis>see </>hydrogen peroxide<$nopage>"How can I make sure the "2s" stay in subscript in the index?I use FrameMaker 12.0.4.445, unstructured.Regards.
Is it possible for FrameMaker to "Learn" (add) a word to the user dictionary or document dictionary so that the word would be flagged by the spelling checker if it is typed in lowercase, but not if it is typed in uppercase? In other words, the word I'm working with needs to have a capital first letter so I only want the spelling checker to flag it if it is spelled with a lowercase first letter.
I'm stepping into a job where they've used cross reference markers for all of the cross references in a 13-file book instead of using paragraph tags as the source type. What is the benefit of doing that? I'm finding many, many unresolved cross references when updating the book. They appear to be linked correctly though...do markers simply show up as unresolved? I know some files are missing fonts and that may be adding to the problem, and I haven't looked at every cross references to see if it is correctly linked or not. I guess I'm just wondering why you would use one type of cross reference over the other. Thanks.
I am new to FrameMaker and just installed version 12. Every time I try to import a DTD into a new EDD, per instructions in the Frame documentation, I get a seven page (number of messages exceeded the maximum) FrameMaker Log that lists mostly DTD lines in which "Length of name, number, or token exceeded the NAMELEN limit". This happens with every DTD I try to import, so I'm wondering what I might be doing wrong. Any ideas?
Please refrain from posting the "smoother word import" video as it doesn't help whatsoever in finding the word import location.
