FrameMaker

How do I anchor a frame that can be moved to half in and half out of a text frame, yet move with the text if shifted. It also needs a fill an outline and another unconnected text frame in it. Corel Ventura had a wonderful way of dealing with adding graphic and frames. Why doesn't Adobe buy that defunct program and add those great features to FrameMaker?

When I try to compile a book, it won't because it says a chapter is too large. So, I need to split it. How do I do this?

well i'm not quite familiar with structured documents, but whoever created it, did........i have this structured element and i need to word with their tables, i need to change translation at them but i just cannot edit,same goes with empty pages,how can i unlock and edit there?

Don't ask why, 'cause it's demeaning for a grown man to break down and sob, but I've just had to copy/paste some text changes from a FM document (in-house source) to a .pdf (submitted by an external agency after they'd somehow massaged our content into InDesign) for the next round of updates. I observe that this copy/paste helpfully prefixes the actual content with a generous list of fonts.I can (and did) cleanse the text with a textEditor wash – like mifWash but different – but just wondered if there is any light to be cast on this quirky mis-cooperation between FM and Acrobat?

We are using Tech Comm Suite 4.0 (FrameMaker 11) on a Windows 7-64 bit platform.We have related products that all use the same glossary file.  The glossary file is located in a parent folder, and all FM books (in subordinate folders) point to the glossary file as the last thing in all book content.The problem is that the file opens as read-only for all writers on the team.  We can close FrameMaker and power our systems down over the weekend, come back to the office on Monday, and the file is still "read only."  There is no "lck" file in the parent folder where the original file exists.Any ideas how we can fix this mystery lock?Thank you in advance.Tim

In FrameMaker 9 is there a way to create cross reference to a particular page on another doc (without closing the current/source doc)? I tried using "openpage filename:pagenumber" option, the link takes me to page 1 of the referenced doc not to the specified page, and as it is a hyper link when page 1 of the referenced doc gets displayed the souce doc closes.When a link is clicked in the source doc, it is required that the source doc remians open. This is an urgent requirement, can anyone please reply soon?

I have Technical Communicator Suite 4, and would like to write a simple script to automate the create of HTML Help for a FrameMaker book file.to(i.e. to automate the process of me opening the book file, and selecting File > Publish)The Publish command is new for TCS4 / FM11, however, so I don't think it's documented in the FM10 material...Within my script, I guess I need to know how to select values for the 4 drop-down fields in the Publish dialog? (i.e. Output type, source file, and path to the robohelp templates)

FrameMaker consistantly crashes, everytime, when doing a save file after doing a cut and paste of table data from one open FrameMaker file to another. This only happens with a specific table. I have had this happen consistantly over the past year with various docs and table data. Usually it occurs when trying to cut & paste data that has edit tacking turned on, but in this instance this is not the case. FrameMaker is fully up to date. Running WINXPInternal Error 10024, 6379539, 6372417, 6385921, FrameMaker has detected a serious problem and must quit.

Hi all,FrameMaker 11, Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard.We are getting different behavior if we do "save as PDF" as opposed to doing "Print" and choosing "Adobe PDF" as the printer.  In the former, italicized math symbols do not come out italicized, while they do using the latter.  I don't know if it matters, but we are using Lucida Sans Unicode to create the Math symbols, and then just applying an Italic char style to make them slant.So within the guts of Frame somewhere, it is calling something different for each of those selections. Does anyone know what, or how to find out?  Is this documented somewhere? Hello ,FM 11, W7.I have created a document and added it to a book.I have created a separate TOC, LOF and LOT. This is then imported as a Text Inset into my document.I can format everything fine, but when I Update Book the formatting is removed from the TOC, LOF and LOT and hence also the Text Inset.Am I doing anything wrong, or is there a way to format in Paragraph Designer so the tab is introduced?

Hello,I am using FM11 on Windows 7.0.When I update my TOC, one of the chapter titles break up and appear on 2 pages (as shown in image). I have checked for Page breaks, extra spaces and Paragraph tabs etc. Also, on pressing backspace the text gets shrinked (squeezed up) and not deleted.When the chapter title is a single line, the page break dissapears. (I have another file where the chapter title is in 2 line and this works well there).Help much needed!!ASAP Please...

Hi colleagues,I got some code to get attribut values but have a hard time setting the value. FM11 crashes when I add x-refs to another doc using x-ref markers and x-ref tool. This has happened on several occasions and the docs are not very large. All text and no graphics.Any ideas?

Greetings fellow FrameMaker users!I find that if I convert text to a table, I lose the original paragraph format and it becomes cellbody by default. Is there a way to change this default? I hope to make many tables by converting them from text, but I don't want to have to go through and change all the cellbody tags to the specific tag I want for that table format. I could maybe do one group of tables at a time, but still, I would have expected FrameMaker to let me specify the format of the cell text before or during the conversion.Are we really stuck with this default? Any suggestions are appreciated.Thank you.

Was not able to open FrameMaker file (version 3) with FrameMaker version 10. I got a message like "The size is not a multiple of 1 KB. The file appears to be corrupted...". I'm able to open other files with the same version. But they look like they have a correct file-size. How can I repair this file. (No backup available).
