FrameMaker

Hi Everyone,I like to ask you about how FrameMaker handles a process instruction. As you can the following xml source file, there is a PI: <?oxy_comment_start> and <?oxy_comment_end> inside <p> tag. Then, after opening this xml file in FM, you can see the following screenshot. There is a unnecessary line break in an unordered list. Can you tell me how I can remove this inappropriate line break, or how I can make FM not manage specific PI tag and not display PI in both FM editing view and PDF output? For your information, I'm using FM 2019 and there are Korean and English texts in this xml file.

I'm writing a report to a new document in comma delimited text.  I can select all the text (Ctrl-A) and use FrameMaker's Convert Text to Table dialogue to create the desired table.  However, was wondering if there's a way to convert text to table in extendscript.  I've checked all available posts going back to 2009 and can't seem to find anything.  BTW, Happy New Year to everyone!

I have never worked with context sensitive help. I added some topics OK. But now I have one that will not link to the correct place from the software. It just links to the top of the Help file. I was told by a previous writer that I should not use the generated H file, but to manually edit the H file that was handed over to me and then replace the generated one in the same location. I am not sure why.In the Frame file, I added a marker of  Type TopicAlias and Marker Text CSH_AmqpClient. At first, I was put in AMQPClient (maybe with an underscore), but the developer told me it was case sensitive AmqpClient, no underscore, no dash, or anything. So I fixed that, but it still does not work.But we are also looking at the CSH Javascript file in the whxdata folder and the marker is not being generated in that file. I have no idea why. Any brilliant suggestions?

Hello Team,Greeting,I'm using the version 17.0.0  Adobe FrameMaker.I was trying to connect Sharepoint Online repository to my Adobe FM, FM displays the following message:FrameMaker could not connect to the repository. Verify the connector installation and configuration.However, I found the adobe help guide (https://help.adobe.com/en_US/framemaker/using/using-framemaker/user-guide/frm_connector_cn-cms-setup-config-documentum-connector.html) to Setup and configure the Documentum connector.And, I followed the step by step instruction, in that adobe is instructed to download DFS SDK from EMC Community Network.But the given EMC Community Network link is dead and I cannot proceed further.So, could you please guide me to connect Sharepoint Online repository to my Adobe FM.I have attached the screenshot for your due consideration.Thanks in advance for your support.Regards,Amrish

Good day all... I hope everyone is well!I hope to receive comments/direction to resolve this issue that has appeared since I began using FM2020... from FM2015 (or since attempting to use the Adobe PDF printer).The image below (left side... image of FM2020 doc) correctly displays the thumbnail white pages in the first column... but the image on the right side (output to PDF)... does not display white pages in the first column. That's the issue!I get the same result whether I "publish" (from the pod), "save as PDF", or "print the book"... and even with different print job settings.I suspect this has something to do with using the Adobe PDF printer... as historically... we used a printer that didn't support colour... and we'd simply enable Spot Color As Black/White in the Print Document dialog box.I am looking forward to your comments... all the best to all!    

I tried to run the installer on Windows 11 ARM today, but it failed immediately saying the installer was corrupted. Any ideas on where I might find a log file that explains this?

What I mean is this: let's say I design a product that has empty text and picture frames, and I want to set up a form on a web site so clients can enter text (up to a set chartacter count) and maybe a logo graphic. Is there a way to set it up so Framemaker can pull that text into the text box and graphic into the picture box automatically? Or is there some sort of script I would need? Thanks.

I am using FM 2020, structured, DITA 1.3.When I edit DITA files, I find that positioning the cursor for an insertion point and selecting text for copy/cutting to be awkward. In particular, the default behaviour of the <home> and <end> keys, mouse-clicks and cursor keys is often inconsistent and unintuitive (and therefore inefficient). For example:There are some inconsistencies in whether or not the end result includes or excludes element tags.There are some inconsistencies in the end result depending on whether you press a key on the keyboard vs. clicking on the text with a mouse.The more common behaviour, which is to include element tags in the selection, makes editing inefficient NOTE: while I can make some reasonable guesses as to the programmatical reasons for why FM behaves this way, I am raising these concerns/observations from a usability perspective. NOTE: I have created https://tracker.adobe.com/#/view/FRMAKER-12635, Please vote if you also want this issu

In my test files for FMfindRepl I have a Text Insert (gugus2.fm), which can no more be updated, because the inserted file has been renamed (!_gugus2.fm.!!!) for purpose. IMHO this inset should be found by the standard Find dialogue (and FMfindRepl) as "Text Inset - unresoved". But it is not. It is of course found with "Text Inset - Any". Help states: If the name or location of the source file for a referenced text inset changes, the text inset is marked as unresolved in the Insets pod. In my case the panel does not list any unresolved inset. → When does a text inset become unresoved?

I'm trying to publish a softcover book created using framemaker to amazon's KDP but I'm receiving an error about font not being embedded. Specifically, "Fonts are missing from your file. In order to print your book using "Symbol" you will need to embed the missing fonts in your file" and then it points to various equations. I don't think I've had this problem before so I'm not sure where the issue lies- in saving the book as a pdf or in bringing the pdf into KDP (maybe the KDP forums). Is there a setting I'm unaware of where I need to enable embedding a font into the pdf from framemaker? 

Hi all, Is there a way to create a three-digit page number with leading zeros using either paragraph tag autonumbering or a variable? For example:001, 002032, 033098, 099 (we don't expect it to go to 100 - ha ha) Thank you.  

Please help, if this is possible. I need the master page to create a numbering sequence for the pages, and the chapters that will look like this (including the leading zeros). Do you know if the program has that capability? 1-001 (where 1- is the chapter and 001 is the page)1-0021-003 ... 1-999 2-001 (where 2- is the chapter and 001 is the page)2-0022-003 ... 2-999 Etc.Adobe FrameMaker 2022THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

Bjørn Smalbro developed two new templates for FrameMaker (). By newsletter I got knowledge that these were integrated in the newest FM version (17.0.0.226). In my installation of this FM version - downloaded from https://helpx.adobe.com/framemaker/kb/framemaker-downloads.html they are not present in any language. So I downloaded TCS 2022 from https://helpx.adobe.com/tech-comm-suite/kb/tech-comm-suite-downloads.html and find this (inspecting the ZIP file): The new templates exist in the US version, not in the other languges versions → Why are these templates not included in the standard FM distribution? and not at least for the EN version?

Hello,I am trying to import a TOC format from a sample TOC template which we created earlier, but after importing tabstop/tablead is not taking automatically, eventhough tabstop is setted in the paragraph format. Its taking tablead by manually pressing the tab button in keyboard, there are more 32 pages of TOC so I cannot do it manually for each line, please help with this issue. For more details please check the images.  In reference page tablead is showingBut, in body page no tablead between paratext and page number Paragraph settings is proper Tabstop is also showing correct Seeking towards your assistance.

Has anyone else experienced this? I installed FrameMaker 2022 today on Windows 11. When I open the app, it appears to attempt to open another window then the entire thing shuts down immediately. Anyone else have this issue? Any idea how to troubleshoot it?

Hello, I'm currently using Frameamker 8 in Win 10. The PDF converted from FM8 especially the asain fonts become unsearchable. As attached below, the texts copy and paste in search column are blank boxes.  Since PDFs exported from InDesign 2022 is fine, I suppose this is an issue regarding either FrameMaker, distiller or open type font.  I've changed the preference settings in Ditstiller as below but didn't make anything difference.Any help or ideas?Thanks a lot

I am trying to publish my book to HTML5 and the mini TOCs  are not being created as hypertext in the published HTML 5 output. When the mini TOCs were created "Create Hypertext Links" was selected and are functional in the FM book, but not in a published output.  I have also tried deleting and recreating the mini TOCs as well.  Any help would be appreciated! 

Dear colleagues, I have a problem with licensing TCS 2017 on the second computer. Company bought TCS 2017 years ago. That time, I successfully installed it on my office PC and worked with it. Now, due to situation in my country, I'm forced to install it on my notebook as well. In other words, when we are bombed, I need to work on notebook, when not I can continue working on office PC. I've installed TCS 2017 on my notebook. Then, on my office PC I made the "Sign Out" procedure (both for FrameMaker and RoboHelp). Then, on my notebook, I tried to "Sign In". I managed to sign in Adobe Manager, entered valid serial number, and tried to "license" the product. Adobe Manager constantly tells me that it cannot license the product, because there is no Internet connection (but in fact there is), and notifies me that I have only 30 days to license the product. What's the reason? Moreover, when I get back to my office PC and try to Sign In and License there, everything goes well. Could anybody ass

I use FM19 to publish our documentation as responsive html5 (Azure Blue template used.) It looks like that if a fm file is published as one single htm file, it will inherit the fm file name. And if a fm file is split up into several htm files, each htm file will be named after its first chapter title/heading. At least this is how I thought it was - until today when I decided to split a chapter (fm file) into two. I made a copy of the original fm file and gave it a new name, and added it to the fm book.The files are also from today set to each be published as several htm files. But the new fm file's first htm file is named the same as the original fm's first htm file, but having an 1 at the end. Example:Original file: alpha.fm, chapter titled "Alpha Guide" has the first htm file named Alpha_Guide.htm. New file: alpha_ref.fm, chapter titled "Alpha Guide Reference" has the first htm file named Alpha_Guide1.htm - which is odd. I'd like to have the second chapt

Say you have an unstructured book about how to make ice cream and you want to create a presentation about ice cream which offers a summarized view of the book. Usually, I would write the book in FrameMaker and make the presentation in PowerPoint.Is there a quick process to extract and publish content from the book as a presentation? The target file (be it pdf or html5) would have a different page size suitable for a presentation. Is that easy to do in FM or should I stick with PowerPoint for presentations? 

I have several books that import PDF graphics just fine and the graphics display in the file Save As PDF and Export to Word. I have a new book that imports the graphics, just fine, but does not display them in Adobe Acrobat file and obviously not in the Word export file, either. What could be missing? Thanks!

I am trying to publish documents in a DITA map to HTLM5, but I get the following message "Failed to preprocess DITA documents".
