Tools for Assistant EditorsNot Prioritized

As an Assistant Editor, I would LOVE if Adobe would provide some tools to help Assistant Editors, including "dumb" A.I. that would automate repetitive tasks that humans are bad at but computers are great at, things Assistant Editors have to do all the time and have to triple check our work to make sure we didn't make mistakes, but a computer could do in minutes, error free. I put an asterisk in front of ones I think are higher priority: * Greatly improve AAF turnovers to sound vendors. I've heard many sound vendors complain mightily about turnovers they receive from Premiere projects. * Batch renaming: ex. Find and Replace, as well as adding prefixes or suffixes, to clip names as a batch. Currently, I have to run a 3rd party program (Keyboard Maestro) to do this. * It'd be great if the A.I. could "learn" a process I need to repeat over and over by watching me do it several times, then repeating it. At the simplest level, I guess this would be recording a macro. It'd be interesting if it could go a little bit beyond that, i.e. learning exceptions: rename the suffix on a clip name to .R3D, but only if it's a video file. * "Auto sequence": lay out clips with timecode in a sequence so each clip is placed where its timecode starts. Ex. A clip whose start timecode is 18:05:00:06 will be placed so the head of the clip is at 18:05:00:06 in the sequence. This makes it easy to build a sync map when syncing by other methods isn't working well. * More distinguishable label colors with simpler names. The label colors in PP 2025 are pleasing to the eye in their subtlety; but what I need are colors that are clearly distinguishable, so I can easily identify, "Oh, this is a sound FX clip; this is an archival clip; this is a subtitle clip." The current colors are so subtle that some of them look almost the same. Also, there are many that are red-ish, which aren't very useful because I want to avoid red so it's easier to identify offline media. And the names are a nightmare. They're beautiful, but it's difficult for a human being to remember, "archival is Caribbean, music is Cerulean." - Consolidate Duplicates for selected clips rather than the whole project, and Consolidate Duplicates without causing source clips to disappear. I LOVE Consolidate Duplicates, but it sometimes makes source clips disappear, so that "Find in Project", which is essential for Assistant Editors, is no longer avaiable. Closing and reopening the project, or Exporting the sequences as a Premiere Project, sometimes restores disappeared source clips into a "Recovered Clips" bin, and I can be manually put those clips back in the correct bins. It'd be great if Premiere could put them back in the correct bins for me, maybe by searching the project for a source clip with the same name, moving the Recovered Clip into that bin, then Consolidate that Duplicate? - Rename to match source file name for selected clips: I'm on a project where I'd had to rename thousands of source media files, then rename all the source clips in Premiere to match those names. The "Replace" function does the same thing; but it seems like Premiere could do it for me, since it knows the name of the source media file it's connected to. I'm also hesitant to use "Replace" since Premiere will allow me to replace the source media file with ANYTHING. Since humans make mistakes, especially with repetitive tasks, it's too easy to replace it with the wrong file. Then, it's very difficult to identify the file the clip should be linked to because all the clues (source clip name, source file name, source file path, duration, etc.) have been replaced (you have to open an autosaved version of the project). - It'd be good if "Replace File" had an alternate version of the command (like "Replace with file with same [duration]" or something) that did some kind of fail-safe check (like checking if the file it's replacing with has the same duration, starts on the same timecode, has the same Tape Name, or something) to prevent replacing with a completely inappropriate file. - Reorganize selected clips based on source file path: This may not be a feature anyone else needs, but if it is, it'd be a way to reorganize a project that's turned into a chaotic mess. I'm on a project where I'm doing this manually and it's taking me weeks. A computer could probably do it in minutes. I would find these tools extremely helpful, right away, far more than the really complex A.I. tasks Adobe has been working on. The "A.I." ones probably aren't really even A.I., just basic computing. It'd be great if Adobe had a panel of working Assistant Editors it would consult annually to see what simple tools would make Premiere an even more useful and desirable alternative to Avid in scripted TV and film environments. Right now, the consensus among my colleagues is that Premiere is good for short-form, lower budget jobs, but is severely lacking for high-end scripted work.

Hybrid Acceleration for Premiere Pro: Cloud Power, Local ControlOpen for Voting

Hello Adobe Community and Product Teams, I want to share an idea aimed at significantly improving our experience with resource-intensive Creative Cloud applications, such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, Media Encoder, and potentially others. --- ### **The Current Problem: The Local Performance Bottleneck** We love the power of Adobe tools, but many of us face major challenges: * **Prohibitive rendering and encoding times:** Hours of waiting for complex projects, which hinders creativity and productivity.* **High hardware requirements:** The need to invest in expensive workstations to achieve acceptable performance.* **Slowdowns and lack of fluidity:** Choppy previews, less responsive interfaces on heavy projects, even on good machines.* **Lack of flexibility:** Difficulty working efficiently on less powerful machines or on the go. These factors limit our ability to fully exploit the potential of the software and meet our deadlines. --- ### **The Proposed Solution: Controlled Hybrid Acceleration** I propose that Adobe develops a **hybrid acceleration** system. The core idea is to keep the main software operations running on our local machines, while having the **option to send the most computationally intensive tasks to optimized remote servers**. --- ### **How It Would Work (Key Principles):** * **Solid Local Foundation and Guaranteed Offline Functionality:**    * Creative Cloud software remains installed and fully functional on our computers.    * Offline work must **always** be possible. Remote acceleration is an *option*, not a mandatory dependency. * **Targeted On-Demand Acceleration:**    * The user could choose to send specific tasks to servers for accelerated processing. Typical examples:        * Final rendering (Premiere Pro sequences, After Effects compositions).        * Encoding/Exporting via Media Encoder.        * Complex calculations (motion analysis, Warp Stabilizer, physics simulations, demanding preview renders, etc.).    * The main interface and light interactive tasks would remain handled locally for maximum responsiveness. * **Full Data Control and Maximum Security (Crucial Point):**    * **Primary Local Storage:** Project files (.prproj, .aep, etc.) and all source media (rushes, assets) **remain stored on the user's local hard drives**. This is our intellectual property, our client data.    * **Temporary and Secure Transfer:** For a remote server to perform a calculation, it is technically necessary to send it the *strictly required* data for that specific task (e.g., the relevant video segments, assets used, calculation instructions). This transfer must be:        * **Secure:** Using robust end-to-end encryption.        * **Temporary:** Data is only present on the server for the duration of the calculation.     * **IMPERATIVE DELETION GUARANTEE:** This is the most important point for trust. Adobe must **guarantee explicitly, contractually, and transparently** that all user data temporarily transferred to its servers (or authorized third-party servers) is **permanently and irretrievably deleted** as soon as the calculation task is finished and the result is retrieved by the user, or in case of cancellation/disconnection. No residual retention should be possible. This guarantee must be central to the privacy policy and terms of service. * **Plugin and Script Compatibility:**    * The remote processing environment must be able to load and use the same third-party plugins and scripts that the user has installed locally, ensuring the consistency and fidelity of the final result. * **Choice of Processing Infrastructure:**    * To offer maximum flexibility, users should have a choice regarding the source of remote computing power:         * **Option 1: Adobe Cloud Servers:**            * An integrated solution offered by Adobe. It would be essential for this option to be offered with **reasonable, transparent, and predictable pricing** (perhaps power tiers or a clear usage-based cost).         * **Option 2: Third-Party / Private Servers:**            * The ability to configure the software to use:                * External cloud computing services (Render Farms on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.).                * **Private** servers (on-premise or hosted) managed by the company or user. Adobe could provide recommended technical specifications and potentially server software or APIs to facilitate this integration for organizations requiring full control over their infrastructure. --- ### **Expected Benefits:** * **Massive Time Savings:** Drastic reduction in waiting times for renders and exports.* **Increased Accessibility:** Allowing those with less powerful hardware to tackle complex projects.* **Flexibility:** Working more smoothly, potentially from different machines.* **Potential Hardware Cost Reduction:** Less pressure to constantly upgrade to the most expensive local hardware.* **Scalability:** Adapting computing power to the specific needs of a project.* **For Adobe:** Strong added value to the Creative Cloud subscription, addressing a major user pain point, and potentially new service offerings. --- ### **Conclusion: A Logical Step Forward** Implementing a controlled hybrid acceleration solution would be a major step forward for the Creative Cloud ecosystem. It would address a pressing need for performance while respecting the imperatives of control, security, and flexibility for creative professionals. Of course, implementation presents a technical challenge (transfer optimization, remote plugin management, server infrastructure), but I am confident that the Adobe teams have the expertise to meet this challenge. I invite other community members to share their thoughts on this idea, and I hope Adobe will seriously consider this path for improvement for the future of Creative Cloud. Thank you for reading.

Adobe website needs to display our current website regionOpen for Voting

(This is actually primarily a Adobe website issue, but there is no place to make those requests. So this is the closest.)There are significant annoyances on the Adobe Help website where a popup comes up if we are not in the USA region.  There is some information available in forums for changing our region, but it doesn't always work.  Changing website region, option 1This is a common option:change your country on adobe.com, https://www.adobe.com/international/selector/ But this page does not tell us what region it is currently set to.So we have no way of confirming if any change has stuck, or indeed what region Adobe thinks we are set to.Changing website region, option 2On many pages there is a link at the bottom like this:Clicking on that gives a large popup with a list of countries we can select. However, neither the link at the bottom, nor the popup give ANY indication of what region is actually currently set.  It also appears that in order for the popup on the Help sections of the Adobe website to not annoy us by always appearing, that BOTH of these region selections need to be set to USA. If only one is set, then the website assumes we are not in the USA. Call to Action for AdobePlease give us indicators on each of the above tools which region is CURRENTLY selected.  For Option 1, just print the current region into the box, or into the dropdown as the selected option. And populate the tick box if we have elected to keep this setting. For Option 2, just print the region where it says Change Region > egNew Zealand (change) > That would give is instant feedback on what's going on.  This is all very easy to implement.
