InCopy

Hello, dear Adobe InCopy users, what location do you recommend for Adobe InCopy files?Do the files need to be on a server (local or cloud?) so that they can be automatically synchronized by the Adobe Creative Cloud - which we use as a license? Sincerely, your Ingo H. Recently upgraded to cc2018. We are using anchored objects (icons- AI files) within text boxes. They are losing their fill after Incopy closes file.  Work flow goes from designer(Indesign) to editor (Incopy). Icons are fine when designer closes file and sends to editor. Editor works file and closes. Designer opens file and Icons have either lost thier fill or have strokes applied. Has anyone experienced this? All of employees are on macs but versions vary. Please help. 

My artist sends me InCopy files, I edit them and return them as InDesign (IDAP) files. I use the "return for InDesign and email" function. All of a sudden, I started receiving an InCopy error box with a red X and a bar that says OK. When I click on the bar, it takes me out of the file. I hadn't done anything to my computer in terms of updates. So I decided to update InCopy to see if that fixed the problem. It still gave me the error box. I tried different files, thinking one was corrupt. Same result. I did find I can package the file as IDAP, save it to my hard drive, then go into my email, attach the IDAP file and email it to her. Not nearly as efficient but it allows us to limp along. We're using Apple mail built around Gmail.

How can I select all articles in the Assignments list so that I can check all in and check out? Thanks

Good evening. I noticed when downloading the creative cloud package that it came with many applications. And many of these applications were new to me. Therefore, I want to study all of them. However, I noticed that two of the applications never displayed or offered a reference guidebook (pdf) to download as you can do for Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. Can you please provide a time and date when the reference guidebooks will be available for the Adobe InCopy and Adobe Bridge applications? 

Hello,My team and I work using Incopy for our editors and Indesign for deigners. Currently we use a inhouse server for the workflow but soon maybe be working fully remote so we need to switch to a cloud server for our workflow. I use BOX and BoxSync for other projects but not with Incopy I worry about people working in documents at the smae time and cuaing issues. Does anyone else use a cloud server for the workflow and if so how and what? thank you for any help, I am trying to avoid havign the editors working directly in indesign if I can.  

When viewing (scrolling) or trying to copy XMP data in InCopy CC2019 the data is greyed out. The scroll bars in the XMP info window do not work and you cannot highlight the text to copy it to a text editor.  This issue seems to have been fixed in InDesign CC2019 (14.0.3), but InCopy is still at release version 14.0.2 and still has this bug.

I use the Adobe Arabic bunch of fonts in one of my websites, currently on Adobe XD. These fonts: https://fonts.adobe.com/fonts/adobe-arabic Can you confirm if I swap my Adobe XD  to InCopy I would still be able to use the web fonts on my website? I have tried on multiple occasions to get Adobe helpers to confirm this so far failed and no luck. Kind regards Layik

Hi,I created assignments from my indesign master on Mac and emailed the .icap files to my client working on a PC. He then downloaded them onto a server he shares with a colleague. They are both using the same InCopy licence (as it can be used on two computers).  The first person opens the file, Checks out one of the copy boxes, makes a change, saves the change, checks in the file and closes it... When the second person opens the file, the change is not visible.  When they open the file again they each see their own change but not the other persons change.... How can we solve this issue?

Hello Community, When placing an InCopy ICML into Indesign that has cross references, they are not working. In user manuals, for example, our Device operation section has a lot of "For more information see “"Maintenance” on page 149" with a cross-reference that works beautifully in InDesign. But my Device operation section is the exact same in multiple manuals, lets say M1, M2 and M3, so we decided to link the text with InCopy; however the Maintenance section it makes a reference to is not on the same page on M1 than it is on M2 or M3. So when I place the same IMCL into M1, M2 and M3, my cross reference appears as <?>.Does anybody know if there is a way to have the correct cross-reference shown correctly in each manual with little or none manual modification?(Using InCopy2020 and InDesign2020 on Windows) Thank you.

I am working on a big project with several authors. These authors enter the text via inCopy. Yesterday I open the inDesign document and notice that a text frame suddenly shows no content. I open the inCopy link and it is empty. There is absolutely no text left. The inCopy file was last edited one month before.Has anyone ever experienced something like this? If I hadn't made a backup, the content would have been deleted forever. I am grateful for any advice. 

I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a helpful, ideally free, tutorial on using InCopy — whether that be via video or writing. I apologize if something similar has already been posted here. Thanks!

Is there an option to block or unblock sticky notes in InCopy? One of our user is saying that he cant copy the text/ comments in the sticky notes in the article made by the translator? i thought that the translator might have locked the comments to be copied. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hello, does anyone know how to Globally convert a text character to a glyph in InDesign? I know how to replace a text with a glyph but I am looking to replace all in a document. The helvetica font I am using uses straight quotation marks but I am looking to convert the straight quotes with curved quotes. In Find/Replace it gives an option for this but it changes the font. I am looking to only replace the character with a glyph globally. 

How do you resolve the error "Invalid operation (S1019)" ?Thank you.

Buenos días, es mi primer mensaje. Hacemos varias revistas en inDesign, utilizando incopy para que los redactores corrijan en asignaciones. Con algunas revistas tenemos desajustes importantes habitualmente. Se mueven los contenidos de las página maqueta, también las cajas de texto, las imágenes, y hace inutil la vista de diseño.  Trabajamos con archivos origen .indd, asignando y obteniendo .icma para los redactores. ¿tenéis idea de por qué se da este problema en algunas revistas? Un saludo  

My coworker is using Incopy to edit the text in my InDesign file. I recently updated InDesign and now she is getting this message: "Cannot open XXXX because saved with a newer version...". My first instinct was to have her update her InCopy, however even after updating her InCopy she is still receiving this message. What is the solution? 

So I have set up my first incopy/indesign workflow. I have exported my text layers only to incopy. Everything links just fine, but because some of my content lives on a coloured background, the text in incopy is displayed white in layout view. Is there a way I can add a background or change the text colour just on incopy so my copy writer can read all the text?

I'm having an issue with InCopy 2020 where I'm seeing other users' tracked changes in Story view show up in my tracking color. Is anyone else having this problem? Any tips on how to fix it?

I work on a daily newspaper and our copy desk uses InCopy (CC 2017). As the design editor, I maintain the InDesign (CC2017) file to which the InCopy assignment are linked and our copy editors update the assignments in InCopy. Occasionally, after an assignment has been updated in a layout file with another or multiple assignments, the update icon will appear on one of the another assignments, which then reverts it back to the original version, eliminating any recent changes. This weird glitch is not because someone has accidentally checked out that assignment — in fact it seems to happen randomly. Does anyone know why this keeps happening and how I can rectify this?

I'm stuck with InCopy 2017 and InDesign 2018 due to the age of my mac. The author I work with just updated all his Adobe software with the latest.Can we work with two different releases or will he need to use 2017 as well?Thanks in advance!

Hallo zusammen,wir haben Probleme mit einer Fehlerhaften Darstellung in InCopy.Der Fehler tritt häufiger auf sobald Bilderrahmen im InDesign gedreht werden.Der Text ist dann in der InCopy Aufgabe komplett verschoben. Wenn man allerdings die *.indd im InCopy öffnet ist die Ansicht korrekt. Kann etwas im InCopy eingestellt werden damit die Ansicht korrekt ist oder handelt es sie hierbei um einen Bug? Hello, everybody,we have problems with a faulty display in InCopy.The error occurs when picture frames are rotated in InDesign.The text is then completely shifted in the InCopy task. InCopy's command bar is not showing any of the controls/buttons. I have tried everything. Removing/readding it, etc. I have found other people online with the same issue, but no solutions except people saying "Window > Command Bar" which is not the solution. The Command bar IS active. It is just blank. Anyone have a way to fix this?
