Does InDesign Server support parallel processing for concurrent requests using programmatic communication?

This happens a lot. I attempt to remove unused swatches, and some can't be deleted, the trash icon grayed out in the Swatches panel. This has happened from CS6 through the current CC 2018 build of InDesign and includes jobs with no linked assets. I know I'm not alone because this issue is shared by many in my workplace. Help?

Liebe Community,ich habe hier ein Dokument mit einem CTA unten. Dort sollen 3 Buttons stehen, wenn man auf diese draufklickt, öffnet sich jeweils ein Pop-up-Fenster mit der Information zu Tel, Mail, Web.Das mit dem Tel.  habe ich nun schon ganz gut hinbekommen 😉 in der Vorschau funktioniert es und auch im als interaktiv exportierten PDF - aber immer nur einmal! Also ich kann nur 1x das Fenster öffnen und dann 1x wieder auf  X schließen. Ich finde auch nach ewiger Suche hier keine Einstellmöglichkeiten und auch beim Googeln im Netz nix. Vielleicht verwende ich die falschen Stichwörter? Vielleicht kann mir hier jemand einen Tipp geben? Das wäre himmlisch. 🙏 Es gibt außerdem noch das Problem, dass im exportierten PDF das X-Feld unter dem Infofenster liegt, obwohl es in der Ebenenanordnung darüber liegt und auch in der Interaktivitäts-Vorschau als darüber richtig dargestellt wird. I am working on a new edition of a book that has grown by two pages in the middle of the book. I need to update the manually created index to reflect this repagination. I have a memory of a script that would search out page ranges and then could increase it by a set amount (in my case, anything from pages 204–422 becomes 206–424 [+2]). I have done an exhaustive search online and can't track down anything that would work. Anyone know of a script that can do such a miracle?

Why won't story editor let me delete overset text? 

Hello Everyone,I´m designing a catalogue in InDesign. I put many tables with different information. In the future, the prices column will change. The new prices will be write in a Excel and it will be messy. Can I automate this somehow? For example, taking the value of another of the columns?

I've tried looking at forums for this issue and nothing is helping. I am working on a brochure for my company. I was typing in text boxes, no problem. All of a sudden, I try to create a new text box and it automatically goes to right alignment. I change it. I start typing a sentence, no problem. The second I go to add a period it moves to the front of the line. I even try tricking it by putting a period in between letters and deleting the letter after but then it still moves to the front. I'm not sure what I did that could have messed with the settings because it was going smoothly until now. I've tried so far just duplicating other texts boxes that work but I don't understand why this is happening. I feel like it should be a simple fix but haven't found anything to help. Has anyone else had this issue in InDesign? 

Hallo!Mir ist des öfteren aufgefallen, dass wenn ich die Suchen/Ersetzen Funktion verwende, irgendetwas nicht stimmt.Also: ich suche ein Wort unter Text, klicke Weitersuchen bis das Wort gefunden wird was mich interessiert (muss nicht das 1. Resultat sein, denn es geht um Textblöcke die ich auf mehreren Seiten habe), dann klicke ich in meinem Dokument um diesen Textblock zu löschen, dann gehe ich erneut im Fenster Suchen/Ersetzen und will weitersuchen... da fängt die Suche von diesem Wort von vorne an! Warum startet es nicht wo ich zuletzt war? Das is doch lästig wenn immer wieder von vorne die Suche startet und ich immer und immer wieder weiter klicken muss, um zur Seite anzukommen wo ich zuletzt war!?!Mir ist es nur bei dieser Aktion aufgefallen, also nur wenn auf der Seite wo ich diesen Textblock gefunden habe, ich mit dem schwarzen oder weißen Pfeil auf der Seite etwas mache (konkret hier z.B. diesen Textblock lösche) und dann im Fenster Suchen/Ersetzen weitersuchen will... If I want to resize a textbox to fit the content, it only works for the height. The width remains the same. What is the reason for this? Is there a trick to adjust the width as well?

When I adjust the directory, I often encounter inconsistencies at the bottom.I used to align both ends, but later I found that it was not very useful. I am now fine -tuning the line, either increased the distance, fill it, or reduce the line of row.IIs there any script to fine -tune the lines of text selected, so that they are quickly full of text boxes?  That must be greatTwo functions: sometimes+, sometimes--, One with a script panel. Thank you~  

Any GREP code for the below would be really helpful. Either to use as a GREP style or to use in find/change. I want "character style A" applied to the brackets which have arabic characters in between them. And i want "character style B" applied to the brackets which have English characters in between them. [My purpose isIf the brackets have arabic text in between them, they will have character direction right to left applied. And if there is English text in between them then they will have character direction left to right applied to them] 

What does this mean? What is the use?I tried several values, and it seemed that nothing changed.

Hi there,  really hoping someone can help.a file I created 5 days ago suddenly won't open? I get an error message that reads "Cannot open the file "filename.indd" Adobe in design may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application." I have never used a plug-in for in design so it's not that. The file gets the same error message after updating in design to the latest version, on different computer, after multiple restarts. I have also tried manually moving the file to the desktop same message. Open from bridge same message. no idea what has happened and there is no alternative to this file. Hopefully somebody has a resolution? thanks in advance 

I am editing a book with 200 pages and about 20 chapters. Each chapter has a heading/title. I want each chapter to start on the next right-hand page which is easily achieved with Keep Options. But I also want it to start about a third down the page. And I discover that Space Before doesn't work because there is no preceding para. So I am advised by Googlers to use Text Frame Options which does indeed give me the option of Inset Spacing to achieve the desired result. But that's isn't what I want. I want to make that inset spacing a feature of the para heading by means of a para style. Is there any way to do that or do I have to use Text Frame Options on every relevant frame (and then when I amend the text, finding that the Inset Spacing is applying to the wrong frame).

I'm working between 2 computers. One of them has CS6 so I have to downsave the file.I have styles set up that align to a baseline grid.When opening the IDML file in CS6 some of the text frames have the text start at the next line in the baseline grid, causing the text to be in the wrong place and overset. Moving the frame around doesn't help. Making it a bit taller does fix it.This doesn't happen when opeing the file in CC. Any idea what might be causing this?

Hi, I'm working through tutorials to learn InDesign. I just tried to select paragraph styles in the styles panel, then click "add selected styles to current CC library". The styles show up in my current library for a few seconds but greyed out. I hover the cursor over the greyed out styles and there's a note "This item is not supported in InDesign". (attached screenshots of the steps) I haven't had any trouble adding items to my library so far - color swatches, graphics, text. What could be going on? I tried adding them individually, and multiple. They keep just disappearing. Any idea what's going on?

I am editing a book and it is almost complete with textboxes exactly matching the page margins. I have set page numbers and headers in the parent page and that is fine. However I now see that the top of the text frame is a bit too close to the page number/headers. So I want to lower the top of the frame a bit. But it is a 200 page book and I don't want to have to do this on every page. Is there a way of selecting all the text frames so I can do this for the entire document? I have spent some time researching Google/YouTube but I have yet to find a solution.

I’ve been trying out InDesign’s “Next Style” feature recently in an attempt to automate text styling and would like to find an answer to a question that occurred to me while doing so.I don’t understand why “Next Styles” are not applied when pasting several paragraphs inside a text box. With the “first” paragraph style of a "Next Styles" “chain” applied to a text frame, why are all pasted paragraphs styled according to the preferences set for the first paragraph, instead of following the sequence set up in the "chain"?When I paste text and do a hard return, the Next Style won't apply. It only works if I type out everything manunally in InDesign. Is there a way to make it work with pasted copy? It would save a lot of time. I really don't want to have to manually click each part and apply a style when I know it can do it automatically.

Hi: I'm trying to format my TOC. My chapters have the word "Chapter" in a smaller font than the one used for the number. I don't want that font size difference to appear in the TOC. I've set the font size for the TOC List (what I've named each TOC entry) for 11, but the number still comes in as it is formatted at the beginning of the chapter. Can I override the larger font size? If so, how? Thank you!

Is there a way to stop this toolbar from opening up every time I click an image in InDesign (and all Adobe products actually) - see attached photo? If I want a generative AI image, I'd request it.  but this is incredibly annoying... I'm working in Adobe InDesign 19.5 on a Mac. Thanks!  

I am editing a book with a lot of speech in the text and so a lot of  double quotes. The scan has missed a large number of full stops at the end of sentences. So it might end "...and there the matter rested"What I want to do is search for every double right quotation mark that is not preceded by a full stop and replace it with full stop plus double right quotation mark. Is there some clever, possibly GREP way to do that or do I have to search every sentence?
