I can currently apply existing profiles, such as Adobe Color, with AutoTone on importing images. For many of my volume images, such as in basketball arenas, this has given a good initial image that needs few adjustments to complete and quickly be able to deliver my images. initial testing of the new Adaptive Color profile shows that it is providing superior results. Unfortunately, the current implementation in 14.2 does not execute the profile. This requires a separate, time consuming step to do an AI update. please allow the Adaptive Profiles to be applied and execute during the import stem.
Background: My workflow: Get a starting point for the edit Fine tune the settings to make a technically good and neutral version of the image Make a virtual copy Add a creative look So far I have used the auto setting to get a starting point. Though, the newly introduced adaptive color profile offers a more subtle way to get started. But when I want to add a creative look using one of the color profiles, the adaptive profile is replaced. Currently there is no way to combined the adaptive profile with a creative color profile. Idea: Introduce the possibility to make a "virtual copy" that works just as if you had exported a 16 bit TIF and reimported the file into the catalogue. Then you can add a creative look on top of your basic edit with the adaptive profile. Why not keep exporting TIFs? Well, it is timeconsuming and file size heavy as you have to make a copy/export of the file which eats HDD space.
In the latest version of LRC a list of backups has been introduced. On displaying this list (Edit>Catalog Settings>Backups ) LRC declares that the list of backups are displayed in date order. However, it is not stated if this is new to old or old to new order. Please add a suitable description or, even better, add a field in the list of when the backup was created.
Topic - Local Color Filtering in B&W Images. I would like to be able to apply color filters locally in black and white images and not just globally (using the Black and White Mix Panel). This could be achieved by either: 1) Adding a Black and White Mix Panel option for masks in black and white images or 2) Even better would enabling the color picker panel in the masking options for black and white images such that when we select a "color" (not a gray scale level) and adjust the luminosity of that hue, it would would change the corresponding gray scale in the selected mask area of the image. This wchange would make it possible to much more effectiely control gray scale tones using color information.
It would be really useful if Lightroom could have more color labels to categorize quickly visually . 5 is a really low number. For example, Davinci Resolve resolve has many more. And this makes it very easy to categorize and quickly filter by color. It would be even better if you can let us make unlimited labels with the colors we want. For example, 5 different shades of blue , red etc.
I use different presets for different projects. I have to change several settings depending on if I'm shooting Real Estate, architecture, or doing post-production for another photographer. Justification: When I shoot real estate I just need quick edits and the quality is mid level and have specific presets for it. When shooting architecture, my raw settings are completely different. Add import presets like we have for exports. Then I can pick my import settings and not have to change multiple. For example, when I do post-production for others, it's easy to forget to change the metadata tab and I can end up adding my copyright to another photographers photos. It would be nice if you could even tie the import to a specific camera. Please vote it up! 🙂
I would like that writing export data in history was optional. I´we got no use for export in my history. It is noise.
I would like the three color balance sliders that photoshop has put into Lightroom. I use the cyan/red slider a lot in PS but as a wedding photographer I do not want to edit them all in PS just to allow for this. Adjusting the HSL sliders to compensate for this lack of a slider is time consuming. Please consider adding this.
Have develop preset settings viewable inside Lightroom after creation. I find it a bit cumbersome that I cannot see the parameters specified in a deveop preset after it has been created. I'd appreciate an entry in the context menu of a preset: "show definition of preset". This should display, like the criteria of a smart collection, how the preset was defined: which panels included, which slider settings or auto algorithms chosen. Currently it is guess from hovering/navigator panel or try&undo, or I have to view them in a text editor from OS storage location.
Description: I use one LR catalog as a "working" platform for sorting/editing/deleting imagery, then import "accepted imagery" to another catalog as a "final", clean library/repository (where they're organized). During this process Virtual Copies of images do not import to the second catalog. Request: Please enable Virtual Copies to be imported from one LR catalog to another. Value: Enable retention of all work, creative ideas and further organizing of content. [Currently using LR Classic 14.0.1]
I would like to see the automatic grid seen during 'Transform' actions to be seen when in 'Crop' mode, regardless of overlay selected. At the moment, the grid used remains until you exit crop mode, when the required grid becomes visible. The reason is for layout I want to use 'thirds', as that provides the best tool for my use. However, shooting architecture, I require a lot of transform, when the basic 'grid' is preferred. If the switch was automatic, it would save me a considerable amount of time. In other words, if I am in 'crop' mode and have 'thirds' overlay, if I use the transform tool I want to see the grid while transforming. It shows that way for all other modes except crop.
When creating a new saved Slideshow from a collection, it becomes a child of the collection. If the collection has sort Custom Order, then I want the Slideshow to inherit the same sort order. With LrC 14.1, the sort order of the saved Slideshow always defaults to Capture Time. Although it can be manually changed by switching to Grid view, change sort order, then go back to Slideshow, and then export, this is seriously error prone and is often forgotten and thereby causes big problems with exported slideshows that exhibit wrong sort order. Therefore I request: When creating a new saved Slideshow from a collection, the Slideshow should inherit the sort order of the Collection.
In the Develop module, control-click a preset and choosing 'Update with Current Settings' brings up the 'Update Develop Preset' panel/dialog.Request: The name of the panel/dialog that comes up should include the name of the preset I am about to update. This prevents accidental update of the wrong preset.
To be able to draw masking as a rectangle and then pick each corner of the shape to scale/ change it would make masking that much easier.
This is more a feature request than a bug... I noticed that with large catalogs atl east on slower machines, sometimes LrC runs in the background as it's finishing writing to the database and then unloads, but I've seen times where it may take a few minutes to comoplete and then c lose fully (even though the UI closes when the user closes the app, it may still run in the background, and this is not obvious). Maybe Adobe should add an icon in the System Tray to alert users that it's still writing data to the database and it's still open in the background, so they don't restart or shut down their computer until LrC has fully closed. It's not a huge deal but if someone were to shutdown or restart, it's possible that the changes that LRC may be writing will be incomplete and this could lead to corruption. I've also noticed a few instances where it's unloaded from the background but does not remove it's temporary database files (although Adobe does have a workaround
I would love to beable to use the CTRL-G and Shift-CTRL-G short cuts while in the Develope Module. I use it quite frequently for HDR merge and going back and forth into Library is just an additional step.
It would be great if we could do an add of subtract in the Lightroom CC Masking by holding down the command key or someting while selecting objects instead of just one at a time. This would be especially helpful when trying to de-select objects that got pulled in by a range mask.
Background.Lightroom provides very powerful tools to manage images and their related metadata. Unfortunately, the ability to place professionally formatted metadata or text on the same page as a print is sadly lacking. However, the functionality required is substantially already working within the Lightroom Classic App, but only in the Slide Show Module. Details. Please add the existing Text Overlay features within the Slide Show Module to the Print Module. The functionality can be added substantially unchanged, with perhaps some relevant tweaking to respect the characteristics of a Printed Page rather than a Slide. I can think of 2 specific tweaks required.1. Align the text with the edge of the Image rather than the edge of the screen. 2. Provide the option in the Text Overlay panel to specify a font size. I enclose a worked example within the attached pdf / jpg. This topic is discussed further here Including Metadata - Title and caption |
I have made multiple requests over the years to improve the handling of the presentation of metadata with images. This applies especially to the Slideshow and Print Modules. It is depressing that this feature is missing. Even more depressing : There is no interface between Lightroom Classic and InDesign. The InDesign / Photoshop data merge feature is so bug ridden and lacks the most basic of usability features. The following idea is a potential solution which will go a long way towards addressing these gaps while providing much needed functionality. Proposal. Provide an extra option within the Slide Show module to export a Slideshow as an InDesign document (Indd). The slideshow module already allows exporting to a Pdf, Video and as a series of jpgs. It should be a very modest exercise to extend this to export a slide show as an Indd file. The requirements are simple. Just include a page for every image in a slideshow
Hi, I think it will be very useful to allow exportation of book created with LR toward InDesign. Blurb, PDF ... InDesign file... should be very interesting ! Alain
Lightroom--I would love to see relative presets as opposed to only absolute presets. For example, I may want to add +10 of yellow in Temperature to what ever setting exists and not a static number. This would be great for white balancing where pleasing color is preferable over accurate color. I may want to white balance a set of pictures and add +10 of yellow to warm things up. I find a lot of presets aren’t useful in my workflow, but a relative color temp/tint would be. Thanks, Reid
They lack the most basic logic like "folder name is folder01 or folder 02 and type is not video" - sigh
Hello LRC 14.1.1 W11 24H2 Before going to PS both number suffix (filename or original) are OK After going back from PS Filename suffix is gone but original is ok. Why not But if you use the denoise by AI that create a DNG from the initial RAW. Both are gone. So Bug. The original should stay Kind regards
