My father teaches lightroom to a group of fellow seniors. He's been complaining that his laptop doesn't have enough memory to run Lightroom efficiently and project on screen and stuff. In case you couldn't tell from the word "stuff", I am most definitely not a lightroom user or a computer geek. I could definitely use some help. I'd like to get him an exceptional machine and read that gaming laptops are usually really good for Lightroom. Looking at the Omen Transcend 14" by HP. I would appreciate any and all thoughts. Just want to get this right. It's my dad. Here are the specs: Op Sys: Windows 11Processor: Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 185H (up to 5.1 GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology, 24 MB L3 cache, 16 cores, 22 threads)Graphics: Integrated: Intel® Arc™ GraphicsDisplay: Discrete: NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4070 Laptop GPU (8 GB GDDR6 dedicated)14" diagonal, 3K (2880 x 1800), OLED, 48-120 Hz, 0.2 ms response
Hi there. Ive been working my 2019 Intel MBP pretty hard over the years. Its ability to quickly read and edit images in LRC (and PS), has been faultering for a while now. I work in a few disciplines of photography but the core of my work has me needing to analyze and cull and tweak anything up to and over 3000 raw files at times. Like many people right now i am eyeing the new Mini and not having been in the M-Chip/Unified memory game yet i find myself lacking in tech knowledge as to what the best conficyuration would be to get the best results without overspending in unnecessary areas. I've read a few conflicting articles about what the best way to go is. When buying a Mac, i'm finding myself always checking every box. The mac that started off as a very reasonable $999 cranks up to $7k at checkout lol I usually try to get max HD/SSD when i can to begin with but I'd appreciate any thoughts in this community as to what is important to get the best and grun

I'm running LR Classic V 13.4 on Windows 10. When I try to import from a card in my camera (I have two), the import dialog begins to show the photos on the card, then it crashes LR. I can import from my computer HD without issue and Windows file explorer can access my cards without issue. Disabling the GPU doesn't help. Thanks!Elia
Hello Lightroom community, I did something foolish a long time ago and it's just become a problem. Years back when I started using Lightroom, I set it up on my H: drive. I created a folder there called 'Pictures' and then (don't ask my why) I created inside that folder another folder called 'Pictures' in which lived my 'Lightroom' folder (where the catalogues and backups live) and the 'MY LIGHTROOM PHOTOS' folder (with all the images in dated folders). For years that worked fine, despite my folder structure error. Now I've just moved to a new PC - with great care. I have a new H: drive and transferred the old H: drive structure into it. When I loaded up Lightroom Classic, all my images were there - deep joy. However, just yesterday, when I tried to import some new images for the first time, I was given this message: The destination folder "H:\Pictures\MY LIGHTROOM PHOTOS" is not available. Using "Pictures" folder instead. Please can someone help me
Since updating LR to 14.0.1 and Mac OS to 15.1 - i've had hanging/ crash and performances issues when working with LR wit the message of your system has run out of memory., Here's my set up Apple Mac Studio - M1 Ultra 64GB RAM Activity monitor is saying its using 150 GB of RAM ! Should only be a max of 5GB- What's going on ADOBE?
I have an issue when using LR Classic on my MacBook Air, in that when I first open LR, it works fine. But as I continue using, each click of the mouse brings up the spinning circle for several seconds, then even longer. Then eventually, my entire laptop freezes with a message that I am using too much memory & I have to Force Quit LR.LR is version 14.0.1. Computer is Somoma 14.5, 8 GB memory, 250 GB free storage space. Activity Monitor showing approx 37 % cpu usage as LR is open but sitting idle. (DOing nothing, it just jumoed up to 53% usage) Showing 28 GB memory. THe only item that shows more cpu usage is "kernal task" whatever that is. THe program is just very difficult to use this way. I haven't even gotten to download Photoshop yet considering how much of a hog (?) LR C is.
I read that Adobe had finally made the updates so I could tether with my Nikon Z9 using Lightroom, so I tried it for the first time last week and found it to be incredibly unreliable. It literally disconnected every 1-2 frames and then I'd have to wait for it to find the connected camera before I could shoot again. I'd then take 1-2 frames and go throiugh it all over again. I'm using a Macbook Pro M1 and a Tether Tools cord. Any siuggestions or fixes for this issue?
I finally cured the extreme slowness of Lightroom a week ago with a driver update for my graphics card and a windows tweak and then suddenly, lightroom started asking me to sign in *every* time I started it up. Then after entering my email/password, it would say that it could not verify my subscription status. This was even though I was signed into my Adobe account at the same time in a windows edge brower session. What the heck?If I would reboot and try again, then it seemed to let me sign in successfully. Possible related is I have a 4th hard drive that seems to go offline but I am not using it within LR. Another issue - which I have tried many times to fix - is that whenever I click "help " in either LR or PS, it *always* says that I appear to be in the wrong country and then I have to manually select Canada and *then* English. Usually by that time, the context-sesitive help has no clue what I was asking for help with and sends me to some generic page. Useless really. Is there a way
In „Lightroom Catalog.

I have three images selected in the Library Loupe view. As I use the keyboard arrows to move from image to image the location of the displayed crop of the image moves around. One of the images is wildly off from the other two. The images are approximately the same size crop of an original, but not exactly. I'm doing this to compare the detail of a feature in three different processes of the image. What is the expected behaviour in this case? Thanks,Chris
Hi guys, I was wondering if someone here could help me with this mini headache. I have an issue that when I edit photos fromlightroom classic on photoshop cc and saved back, the previews on Lightroom cc mobile doesn't update. On LR classic they are fine, but not on mobile. To make it more clear, this is my workflow: upload photos to Lightroom classic > creat collections and sync (with smart previews) to Lightroom CC / mobile > on Lightroom classic I do "edit image in photoshop 2020" > finished editing on PS 2020 and saved back. On lightroom classic the previews are updated nicely, however on Lightroom CC mobile the new previews doesn't update. The old one remains. I have tried to delete smart preview and then creat them again via library but nothing. the only work around it's to delete the collection (or sync) > delete smart previews > creat smart previews > creat collection and sync over and over again everytime I edit in pho
Hello Friends, Nothing happens except for photoshop launching unless I already have it open when I try to edit in PS from Lightroom Classic. I have tried as many suggested fixes as I can find. Deleting preferences, uninstalling and reinstalling both PS and LR. I still can't get it to function properly. Very frustrating as I do most of my editing in LR and only use photoshop for cloning etc. I am current in my operating system on a 2017 I Mac with plenty of power and all the goodies needed to run the programs. According to creative cloud, all of my applications are up to date.Has anyone had any success with solving this problem? Thank you in advance for your help.
In Develop module when I try and zoom in to edit a small section of the image the photo enlarges a litle bit then goes black and I have to zoom out to see the image again. This happens regardles of what is selected in terms of enlarging from image size Fit, Fill, or 66% etc etc Using MB2 with latest Apple and LR version downloaded ...please advise how to fix this? Thanks [Moved from ‘Bugs’ to ‘Discussions’ by moderator, according to forum rules.]
When I import photos into Lightroom Classic 14.0.1, RAW files from a shoot, and create Smart Previews, corresponding DNG files are generated in the *smart previews.lrdata catalog. If I copy these DNG files to an iPhone, some of them display strangely — contrast is lost, and strange color tinting appears. I am attaching 2 RAW files and their corresponding DNG files, where one displays correctly, but the other does not.https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1yv8R3-vFUsO2vw05HgfVPLPgaCnAxmfJ?usp=sharing [Moved from ‘Bugs’ to ‘Discussions’ by moderator, according to forum rules.]
I am running Lightroom Classic (14.0.1) on an M1 iMac. I'm trying to screen mirror to an M1 MacBook Air. Both computers run Sequoia 15.1.1. My Lightroom files all sit on the iMac.I can set up the screen mirroring but Lightroom Classic doesn't seem to play ball. For example in Library mode with a Grid View I want to show the selected individual image in a Secondary display on the MacBook Air. In that way I can be viewing the Grid on one screen but see an individual image in detail on the other. But Lightroom resolutely will only appear on one screen at a time. Is this just a feature of Lightroom and I'm asking the impossible, or is it a bug, or am I not going about it the right way? Mike
So I have Canon and Nikon cameras and AI denoise works fine on their RAW files but I also have the DJI AIR 3 drone that when I try to use AI denoise on it's DNG files it doesn't denoise at all, instead it just sharpens the existed noise. Is there hope?
To free up space on my internal drive, I all of my international travel folders to an external drive. This was quite a while ago and I've never had any problems accessing themBut today (several upgrades to LRC later), I tried to move another folder on my internal and could not.I should be able to drag/drop....yes?When I do that, I'm unable to drop it on the drive name OR as a new folder on that drive. So, I created a folder on the external (outside of LR) with the same folder name figuring I'd drag/drop all of the subfolders into that one. But that new folder isn't showing up on as a folder in LR.I'm stuck. I can think of some workarounds, but this SHOULD work. And, since I'm told repeatedly to organize my photo files from inside of LRC, that's what I'm tryin' to do!
Hi, yesterday I build a new Workstation PC, to replace my old System. Hardware is as follows: MoBo: Asus Prime B650-Plus CPU: AMD Ryzen 9900x 4,4Ghz 12-CoreRAM: Corsair 64GB (2x32) 6000MhzStorage: WD 4TB NVME SN850xGPU: Asus Prime 4070 Ti Super OS: Win 11 Pro, 24H2 basically, LR has more than enough resources to work with. Now heres the thing, Lightroom starts up as fast as expected, and when I am in the editing module its also fast. But, when I click on the Import Button, it gets stuck. I get that round-blue-spinny-circle thingy as a cursor (similar to the rainbow thingy on mac), and its just stuck. And its not like its running out of resources, Task Manager shows no crazy use of anything. Its just like Lightroom doesnt want to open the Import Panel, or does not know how to? Sometimes, after a few minutes, I either get a "Lightroom is not Responding" Pop-Up, or sometimes it works, until I click on lets say the ca
I'm working on a new MacBook Pro and trying to create an Import preset so that file copies get written to an external SanDisk SSD. On starting the import, LrC recognizes the folder, but when executing the import I get a message "The files could not be copied to the backup location." I checked the SanDisk and saw the file had not been copied. To ensure that there wasn't a SanDisk failure, I copied another file from my desktop computer into the same folder and was able to find it with Mac Finder. Not sure what to do next.
TLDR; when mac loses local network access, lightroom keeps trying to build previews until it hits 120gb of application memory and crashes. If usung remote storage of photos, and the os drops the network mount lightroom classic keeps trying to build previews without warning. Something leaks and consumes between 120 and 130gb of application memory. Network drops for Mac not Windows. Drops every 5 mins or randomly New Mac m4 pro, was migrating from Windows, maybe I'll go back to Windows... [moved from bugs to discussion according to the community rules - Mod.]
Hi guys,I usually work on adjustments on a virtual copy - or several, and when I am satisfied I transfer the adjustments to the original image via "Sync Settings" or "Previous". Neither seem to work and no adjustments are transferred between images. This is what happens: "Sync Settings" blinks and stops without effecting any changes; same with "Previous" but a message flashes on the screen for a fracrion of a second - I was able to decipher "Your changes were pasted .... AI ...., etc" but it happens too fast to read intelligibly. Seems like it's only happening to this one image. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.
Hello,Since the new update Lightroom classic 13.3, the script ExtractPreviews doesn't work. I have put the new ExtractPreviews.lua, but I have always the same message : "Failed to extrac or write the preview for x photos - this may be because no preview was available or an error occured while writing the preview to the destination".Have you a resolution ?Thanks'
