Lightroom Classic

If I apply the Adaptive Portrait preset (e.g. Polished Portrait) at import - I get exclamation mark and message all AI settings need updating on EACH image after import. I think it should not work like that, moreover that I don't know of any way to update AI settings for a batch of multiple images at once. Please fix. Loupe Overlay is useful for image layouts in Loupe View (Magazine covers with text, etc) however the Overlay is not visible in Full-Screen mode [F]. If this were possible, images could be shown, or projected, 'full-screen' with an overlay similar to a watermark or Identity Plate.  

I would really like to see a way to configure the location and max sizes of the preview and smart preview cache.If I could move the preview/smart preview cache away from the Lightroom catalog, this would allow me to easily sync the catalog via Dropbox/OneDrive/etc.I'd also like to set a max size for the preview and smart preview cache (so I don't run into space issues on smaller SSD drives). Once max size is hit, it can cull old/unused cache entries.

I occasionally use the AutoSync feature in the Develop pamnel to automatically apply multiple edits to multiple photos at the same time. However, after doing so, I very frequently forget to turn off AutoSync and then may make multiple selections again in a different tab (say the grid view). Then, when I go back to make an edit, I accidentally have the AutoSync option still selected and end up making a lot of edits to a lot of photos before realizing that I have had it turned on.   I would appreciate a new feature of the settings menu that would allow a user to choose to keep the AutoSync selected after making a new or different selection of photos (as it does today), or have the ability to automatically disable AutoSync  automatically as soon  as the user selects a different selection, either a single selection, or another multiple selection.   I currently use an 2023 iMac 24" M3, running Sonoma 14.6.1 and Lightroom Classic CC v13.5.   I havwe found the fact th

LR allows users to customize the file name format (EDIT>PREFERENCES>FILE HANDLING).  For example, my webpage images have a hyphen between words in a title, while my client images use spaces in lieu of hyphens.  LR allows users to customize export presets...I have 14 export presets.  In none of the export presets, can I lock in the file format (i.e. the hyphen use or space use).   When using my webpage image export preset, I must first edit the LR preferences.  Seconds later, when exporting the same image for another use, I have to undo the LR preference, making for cumbersome work.  REQUEST: Allow users to customize the file format in Export Preset so we can avoid the LR preference flip-flopping.  

In the Import dialog, there should be an option to skip importing any JPEG files where a matching RAW file exists.   I always leave my camera on shooting JPEG+RAW, since I can easily download pics to my phone and share with others while on the go, but I don't keep those in my computer. Therefore, an easy solution to just skip these files during import would be great.   Currently, the closest process is to either: in the Import dialog, import all files, go to settings, configure to "display jpeg and raw as separate files", remove all JPEG, revert your configuration; OR In the Import dialog, select all images, sort by image type, uncheck all JPEG images, import just the others Any of these alternatives are cumbersome and not perfect: if you happen to have a picture in JPEG only, not the matching RAW, you risk deleting it by mistake.    

I'd like to see some improvements/additions to the lens blur manual adjustment tools. The AI does a great job, but it's never quite perfect. It would be really useful to be able to simply set/calibrate depth with an adjustment brush, rather than a relative focus/blur.   I think it means adding a third tool that is more explicitly "paint depth"—preferably with an eyedropper to select the depth level from the image. The depth level you are painting should correspond directly to the 1-100 scale that the focus range adjustment uses.   At least half of my time spent adjusting photos using lens blur is adjusting imperfect AI mapping of objects outside the main subject so that they match their surroundings. For that, I switch to the "visualize depth" map mode. If you're trying to get the image to a place where you can then adjust the blur amount and focus range, you really need the depth map itself to be accurate.    Why is the new tool needed?   U

I am capturing via tether while using multiple displays all day / every day and the widget it constantly disapearing. If it goes way I have to make sure LR is in full screen mode then go to another app and then back to Lightoom to find the widget over on another display then drag it to the correct display to shoot. Yes I know I can F12 to shoot and shift/command T to change Shot Name but I often need the "Tethered Capture Settings" window to change sesssion name and that's a button on the widget. I want the tether window to imbed in my develop module to which I'm shooting or have a completely new customizable Tether Module. Thoughts? How does that sound Adobe, let's make it happen. -Rf

Problem: I have an almost full keybord workflow for culling photos. Where I slow down is when I have to check critical focus on my subjects face, i have to use my mouse and hunt around once zoomed in, or click and select on a face. Solution: I would love to leverage the face detection which is already running, and do a zoom view via a keyboard shortcut where I can see all my subjects faces at a specified zoom level.  either as different boxes since there are seperate subjects or just zoom into the single face that is anywhere in the frame. I guess it would be "Zoom to face"   Alternately, show focus peaking with a keyboard shortcut, to see what is in critical focus. 

I have files going back to 2004.  I also have many, many collections, which I prefer over keywords.  Because the Collections panel is on the same side of the screen as the Folders panel, I find that I have to scroll constantly up and down, up and down, just to add images to various collections (some images are in 5 or 6 or more collections).  This is terribly frustrating and time consuming.It has occured to me that if the Collections panel was on the right side of the screen, along with the Keyword panel, I would be able to reduce the amount of scrolling I have to do to add photos to their various collections, thereby saving considerable time.I realize this would be a major change, but I'd still love to see it, and I'd bet others would, too.

LRC offers guides and rulers in Print module but nothing in Develop module.While creating Triptych it causes trouble as there are no guides to size the images it leads to incorrect dimensions.PS offers guides and rulers too.

The options for backing up catalogs are behind several menu layers (Options, Preferences, Catalog Settings, Catalog Backup Frequency).   This could use a logical refresh. Can we have the option to backup our catalog directly from the File menu, backing it up to the last used directory? This could be nestled under 'Optimize Catalog'.

Idea:  Within Lightroom, Brushes with simple effects built in, such as a strong blur, pixellation, or solid color.  It would be similar to how adjustment brushes work.   This would allow users to use LR to markup images quickly (such as circling an important object, adding a signature, etc) as well as make it easier to blur out details such as faces or body parts.   Having these tools in LR would improve the workflow because users wouldn't need to also open each image individually in Photoshop.   Right now, if one needed to blur out something like a face or other body part, the only options within Lightroom are to use an adjustment brush to lower texture and sharpening, and apply the effect multiple times over with diminishing results.   The only practical solution to blur or pixellate an object is to open the image into adobe photoshop, do the effect there, and save a copy.  This slows the workflow by requiring more steps, and loses the abi

I vote to ADD the ability in Preferences to have White and Lt gray Workspace Panels instead of just Black. *spent most of career indoors on computers... Now I can workdoors...but can't see the screens in daylight!  Should be an easy fix for software engineers ...not as exciting with alll the new AI stuff but please don't forget to take care of older software as well, please. Many of us are still using Classic in our daily workflow.  So far this is NOT something you can change. Please upsell this request!! 

lightroom classic print module is the best tool to print photo on my epson large format printer 44inch .i hope , i can set number of photo to be printed on a layout  (single image / contact sheet ) with repeat one photo per page offso that i dont need drage same photo multiple time manually inside the layout .

This would be helpful for me. For example, when I photograph a beautiful sky, I export it as a high quality file for possible future use in Photoshop's Sky Replacement feature.   It would be nice to add the Keyword: Sky-Replacement-Export to the metadata.   It might be useful to be able to choose a Metadata Preset as well.   What do you think?

I am writing to suggest an improvement to the workflow in Lightroom when using the AI-based noise reduction feature. Currently, when Lightroom creates a new DNG file during the noise reduction process, all attributes (such as flags, star ratings, and color labels) applied to the original file are not automatically retained. This forces me to manually reapply these attributes by switching back to the Library module, which disrupts my workflow. It would be highly beneficial if Lightroom could automatically retain these attributes when generating the new DNG file. This would streamline the process and enhance the user experience, particularly for those of us who heavily rely on these attributes for organizing and managing our images. Thank you for considering this suggestion, and I appreciate the continuous improvements you bring to Lightroom. Thanks 🙂

it would be better and more friendly to use if the ctrl button is removed from the develop module in order to go to next or previous photos 

Present Aspect Ratio of Picture in Library Module for easy reference.  I tis very important to be able to quickly scan and recognize the current aspect ratio in addition to pixel dimensions.  All that is requied is to create a calculation of pixel Width/pixel Height and show this number as a decimal and/or fraction.  THis is critical for ease of reference for print purposes as well as other compositional workflows.

I was recently had a situation where there was motion in multiple bracked images that I needed to merge with a set amount of de ghosting. I'm not seeing a way to set this amount before applying "merge" to multiple stacks. Also, the resulting HDR image does not appear to be in the collection afterwards and can be difficult to track down from "All Photographs".

Is it possible to map shortcuts for the quick develop Settings in the Library Module? It want to map this littel helpful functions to my midi controller, but there is no way to do this without shortcuts...

I am a sports photographer, and Getty Images *requires* the use of the IPTC "Personality" field for all athletes shown in the image before submission.  I do most of my sorting, culling, IPTC labeling in PhotoMechanic before importing to Lightroom for toning and cropping (No AI anything allowed!). PhotoMechanic supports the Personality field, which I use to insert the subject of the image's name.  However, when I search for an athlete in Lightroom's "all searchable fields" , I get a "nothing found" result.     In searching Adobe.com, I don't see "Personality" field supported by Adobe (yet).    It seems that Getty would have enough weight to get Adobe to support the Personality IPTC field.

I might be alone in thinking this, but I'd love to see the Tone adjustments and the Effects (Texture, Clarity, Dehaze) adjacent in the Mask Adjustment Panel. In other words, I'd like the Effects panel moved up (and renamed) to sit just below the Tone adjustment panel.  IMO the "Effects" are mis-grouped and share more in common with Tonal (contrast) adjustments than, say, grain and lens blur.    Thoughts?

I would find it most useful if the Collection Sets had a Collection counter where I have the red arrow. It would be much easier than having to manually count the Collections.   TIA
