I have two computers (a Macbook Air, a desktop PC), and one Android phone. I subscribe to the full Adobe suite. I've been using these apps for many many years, and there's still so much that to me, is un-understandable. I think one part of the problem is Adobe's lack of universal terms - like on mobile a "collection" is actually a FOLDER (yeesh I worked on that for an hour until I figured that out).Anyway, I want to be able to sync photos I take on my phone to BOTH my Macbook and desktop - but - they are using two different catalogs. So...am I screwed? No way to have the same photo on all threee devices? So then what does Adobe mean by "sync across all devices" - it seems that is IMPOSSIBLE, correct?Thanks...
When I first started editing a few years ago, I learned on Lightroom Cloud. Now that I know what I'm doing I'd like to switch over to Lightroom Classic because it seems like there is some more functionality with Classic. The problem is that for some reason the keyboard commands are different and the ones on classic dont seem to make any sense with hand placement, but there also isn't an option for Lightroom Cloud keyboard controls, which would seem like a no brainer. So much so that I assume I just don't know how to switch them over. Does anyone know where to do so?
You've combined Generative AI with the old content aware brush, and they produce different results, and I try to go back and deselect the Generative AI I lose my brush strokes. If I painted with the Content Aware brush and have Generative AI selected by mistake then Lightroom takes me immediately into the Generative AI Mask Refinement menu. There's no way out of this menu to deselect Generative AI without losing my selection. If I click cancel the selection goes away. Sometimes the Generative AI sucks, so I want to deselect it but keep my brush strokes. But, no, I have to repaint my selection. This is very inefficient and annoying. Either allow us to deselect generative AI from the refine mask menu or separate generative AI from the content aware brush, and create a separate brush for generative AI.
I keyword all my bird photos. If I am keywording for a bird that is already in my keyword list I have to type in the exact first letter for the drop down suggestions to come up. ie if I am keywording Sulpher-crested Cockatoo I have to type Sulp.... for the bird name to show. It would be really useful to be able to type the any of the words in the name ie if I type in 'crested' or 'cockatoo' Sulpher-crested Cockatoo shows in the drop down list. Often I can't remember the exact name of the bird so being ably to type in any part of the word in the name would help. Thank you Belinda
I am trying to export a shared drive and Lightroom Classic reported that the specific folder is not writable. However, I can read/write without issue from Windows Explorer on the same computer. Also, within the "Choose Folder" dialogue box I can create a new folder without issue. If I select the newly created folder, LR Classic complains again. Additionally, I can right click in the Choose Folder dialogue, select New, then add a new item to the folder. It can successfully add the item. So the folder is definitely writable! Why is LR Classic thinking it is not writable?! I am running Version 13.4. [Moved from ‘Bugs’ to ‘Discussions’ by moderator, according to forum rules. Hello!I am noticing a weird bug? lately in LR Classic on Macos Monterey. With raw file white balance, or It/something seems to have changed , more recently, from what I can tell. Basically, my raw image(s) white balance appears to shift as I edit my Canon R5 Raw Files, which didn't happen before/in the same way. Sometimes the image now will turn more purple or blue, when it might have been more orange in the base raw exposure/AWB in the past. I have attached the split view/before after, and other specs/version imformation. [moved from bugs to discussions according to the community rules - Mod.]
I have found that Lightroom Classic 13.4 and 13.3 both wipe out pre-existing Histories and Snapshots in the Develop Module.Have you perhaps seen this problem too?LrC 13.2 does not seen to have this problem. [Moved from ‘Bugs’ to ‘Discussions’ by moderator, according to forum rules.]
Let me give you an example: if I have a folder called USA, and a sub-folder called California, and in that, one sub-sub-folder is called San Diego while a second sub-sub-folder is called Los Angeles, is there any way for those names to be read so that the contained images' keywords to have "USA," "California," and some of them also have …, "San Diego," while others have …, "Los Angeles?" I know how to do this manually, but I want to know if there's a faster/easier way to do this. Thanks!
Probelem opening lightroom files in photoshop! All my software is up to date. Still I get this message: Could not open “DSC02192.ARW” because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. What can I do ? First time ever having this problem
I needed to upgrade the catalog with the new Lightroom Classic update about 10 days ago (now 13.3). However, it seems that the previews were not included. In the same folder, I see the old preview catalog (500 GB) and a new preview catalog (4.5 GB). I'm not sure why the previews were not incorporated into the new catalog. I've done several hours of work in the past week (before I noticed what happened), so I don't want to lose anything by rolling back and upgrading again. Is there a way to absorb the old previews into the new catalog? Or any other ideas besides creating 500 GB of previews all over again from scratch? What's the best way forward?
If this has already been asked, I haven't found it yet. So bear with me. After updating to the latest LR Classic on my windows computer, none of my AI masks work. This has caused a significant slow down in my workflow. What could have happened? And how do I fix it. Thanks ~Janet~
I've been editing a ton of dance show photos. I edit one photo, copy and paste the settings into others, and adjust the settings. I've always done this for quite some time. Today I noticed Lightroom Classic not behaving as usual. When I open up the copy settings window, I have no option to actually copy the Remove Tool (Q) (previousy called healing brush). I guess they changed some tools' naming and forgot to update the copy settings to reflect that. Worse thing is, the Remove Tool is not anywhere in the settings, but they are actually copied! So when I want to copy only the edits, the color, exposure, etc., I need to delete all Remove Tool instances, and copy settings. And add the Remove spots again if I need them. This is a nuissance. Can someone verify this? Is this a bug or actual intented way of working? How can one copy the settings without the Remove Tool? This is happening in a Windows 11, Intel i5 12400F with a Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti Than
I have 50+ presets with support slider. Applying one of them will show a slider with a default amount of 100. I can change the slider from 0 to 200. What I want is, to set the slider at 60 by default when I apply the preset instead of 100. I have used the presets on various cameras and I found the presets best to use at 60. I don't want to create a new preset. Is it possible to edit the presets.xmp for default slider amount? like example crs:Amount="60"? Any help and would be highly appreciated 🙂
This is a new issue. I used this feature in June and it created the image and posted it next to the ones I was working on. Today, after I select the images and try a photo merge (Panorama), it processes them and puts them in my folder on my hard drive, where the original files are located, and not in the software. Am I missing something? MacBook Pro 16-inch 2023 Apple M2 Max 64 GB memory Sonoma 14.5 [moved from bugs to discussions according to the community rules - Mod.]
I'm fairly new to Lightroom Classic, but I just updated it, so I'm hoping the program shouldn't have an issue there. My MacBook Pro has plenty of storage as well. I uploaded a set of Raw photos from my memory card and they all appear super pixelated (example screenshot attached) when I go to Develop them. None of the files appear missing. The raws did save to my computer's hard drive. When I view the photos using my computer's preview app, the photos are totally normal, so I'm assuming I messed something up during the import process to Lightroom. None of my previous imports or galleries had this issue, causing me to scratch my head at which step I did incorrectly this time. Does anyone know where I went wrong or have suggestions? Thank you in advance!!
Can there be a difference in image quality between different photo organisers????
I have about 300Gb of unstructured photos (a lifetime of photos) on my synology home RAID. I am using a Macbook Pro 14inch work computer as my best desktop client. I may have to buy a new home Mac in the next year as I may lose my job. Given this should I set up lightroom classic on my work computer now and transfer it to a new computer in a year or just go on-line with lightroom? I back up my home RAID as there are 2Tb of important files. I think classic may have more features but want to avoid a hassle that may be associated with switching. It is going to be a lot of work to organize all my past photos and don't want to do it twice.
Hello everyone, I'd like to understand how the Lightroom Classic catalog works.I built two catalogs with same photos, one with Lightroom Classic and one with Photo Mechanic Plus. The LrC catalog size is 32 GB and the PM catalog size is 16,57 GB.The previews sizes are almost the same, on LrC is 1680px and on PM is 1600px. Of course I discarded the 1:1 and the smart previews in LrC.How's possible this big difference?
Masking in LrC makes things a muddy color and it wont't go away so it's useless, it's current on updates ...Using windows
What I can do?I open photoshop 2024 and i can work normally... but if i click on "modify in Photoshop 2024" from lightroom menu, PS 2024 crashes. I hope i've put this problem in the right community!
Lightroom Classic was working fine yesterday and now every time I launch it from any source( shortcut on desktop, creative cloud, or start menu) nothing occurs. There is no window and no errors, but I can see it in Task Manager. I've seen other posts about the metric.json fix however I see this was fixed in previous updates and cannot find it in the given folder: C:\Users\""username"\AppData\Local\Adobe\Lightroom\CachesI would greatly appreciate any guidance you could give me before I start losing money.
Since updating to 13.2, I've had erratic behavior using either mouse or tablet. These are most noticeable when adding or subtracting from existing masks using the Brush tool. This happens more frequently with the tablet, but also with the mouse. I had recently done a system restart to clear up this issue, but this didn't help. Specifically, here are the steps working with a mask where problem occurs:Click on existing maskClick + or - to add or subtract to get dropdown windowI choose "Brush" and sometimes nothing happens (whether using a mouse or pen )...OR...I can select the brush, but the brush may not show up...OR...does not do anything, or does the opposite of what I selected (i.e., a + instead of a -). Hope that makes sense. This is virtually the same issue on 2 separate systems at our studio with 2 different model Wacom tablets (this one a PTZ-630). This issue was previously reported by user uncleoat, who is the other system in the studio. Here is system info for th
All I did was open the image in Develop after importing it. The image is JPG, scanned from an Ektachrome slide. Aside from needing some cleaning up, the image appears normal in every other photo viewer. No, I didn't click on "Auto" or "HDR". Outside of LrC, the original image appears as in the "Navigator" thumbnail (upper left of LrC window) but the image for editing is totally mangled, as shown below.Totally weird. For comparison, here's how the image appears in Photoshop... LrC 13.4, Windows 10 (version window also pasted below)... Thank you for your attention and guidance. Regards,Steve
After the Update of Lightroom. Lightroom start to change the File Attributes of the Following Folder/Files to S (System)How can I avoid that? I need to change this behaviour because Sync Tool won't sync this Files anymore. Regards
I have configured by MacBook Pro for dual boot, and am moving Lightroom & data to a new volume. Now, on the new volume, I get the following error:Lightroom cannot write to the following directories. until this problem is resolved, syncing from lightroom may not work correctly /Volumes/DataWell, it is expected Lightroom can't write to /Volumes/Data, as that is the Data volume for Macintosh HD.The dual booted MacOS uses a volume called alternate which mounts /System/Volumes/Data:Macintosh HD -> /Volumes/DataAlternate -> /System/Volumes/DataI have two questions: How can I fix this? Why is Lightroom hardwired to volumes instead of directories? (which I did copy over) [Moved from ‘Bugs’ to ‘Discussions’ by moderator, according to forum rules.
